Spindle turning thin spindles - Beads and Coves

I'm new at turning and for some time I've been looking for turning videos where they address the wobble that causes spirals when turning thin stock. I've tried sharpening, lighter pressure, adjusting the turning speed, but couldn't find a solution. It's like no one else had the problem. This is the first that spoke of a simple solution; supporting the back of the piece with your finger. Thank you!

Very clear, thanks. I've been working on wands which are the same principle but longer and apparently that extra length is just enough that I've needed a steady rest to support it; my fingers behind are not enough. So frustrating to watch them snap! I liked how you did the fillets, and your clean parting off. Maybe I'll do hairpins instead of wands once I finish this commission! :)

I don’t know the exact speed - probably between 1500 and 2000.

I have both crown and sorby tools and see no difference in their spindle gouges- there are flute profile differences in their bowl gouges. I like the crown pm tools.
