Absolutely one of the most perfect performances of this glorious piece I have ever heard. Sublime!

Listening to Fieri Consort sing Victoria, Monteverdi, Byrd, Tallis, and many other great Renaissance and Baroque composers has gotten me through my long recovery from having my cancerous gall bladder removed. You guys *inspire* me--especially Hannah Ely and Josh--even at my darkest, lowest moments. I cannot possibly ever thank you enough. Would you ever consider doing a collection of Victoria? I LOVE his vocal compositions

Beauty that pivots the mind from all other notions in relief sequestered, for pale the mist magnificent of earth, that glory would condescend to light on us a morsel treasure - for bright divine could slay us. We are slain still by but long shadows, guilty even when hearts are raptured, that milk and wine from lips sublime, swift us away to endless time in His glorious light.

All right. This is a very fine rendition of this exquisitely beautiful motet. But there is a repetitive flaw in the singing that should be addressed and to be honest, I would be surprised if the S, A, and B haven't already told the T about it to no avail. The tenor is the only one using a very precious little "blooming" portamento (meaning there's a minute crescendo together with the slide up to pitch) on many of his attacks where syllables begin with vowels, that has no place in the style. Since he is the last voice to move while the other three are holding at the very end, it is sadly conspicuous. Once in a while you find someone who really can't cleanly attack on pitch and too often glides to it, but more often it's an affectation. He's got a fine voice that blends well with the others, but this distracting tic needs to be dealt with.

Correction: the tenor is singing his little portamenti on many syllables, at word beginning or middle, whether they begin with vowels or consonants.
