“Height of Callousness” was a perfect album. Every song is solid with no filler. That’s a rarity in the Nu metal genre especially in the early 2000s.

About 1994ish to 2005ish was the golden age for metal. I mean dont get me wrong - shit like Justice and stuff from the 80s still slaps HARD, but this stuff is just perfect. A great balance of techno, vocals, heavy industrial guitar, and driving drum beats.

A song by Drowning Pool was playing in the background and it made me think of a song that I hadn't heard in forever; couldn't even come up with a lyric or remember who or what, but I KNEW it was from the MX Superfly soundtrack. One of the best concerts I have been to. It happened to be my birthday, and I was lucky enough to be shooting the shit with the lead singer of the opening band (unbeknownst to me). It was a small venue, but mid-show, Johnny pauses and pulls me up to wish me a happy birthday and ask what song to play next. After the show, I was pulled backstage to chill and meet everyone, including his lovely girlfriend.

Tommy is such an underrated drummer and Johnny's vocals are a perfect overall tone for their style of music It's too bad they didn't take it seriously enough and really put in the work to make multiple great albums, but at least we have diesel ! I didn't even know the band Spineshank till their song came out from their self-titled album, "Smothered." I first heard that song off a metal and hard rock compilation called Headbangers Ball (Volume 1). Great song, and then it lead me into wanting to see what some of their other hit songs were. This is my second favorite track of theirs.

I can remember first listening to this song when i went to Australia, I can remember all the subtle nuances of life down under just by listening to this song, playing constantly while going down the gold coast. Only good music can do that.

I loved this group when I was young. Although they don't necessarily withstand the test of time seeing their sound as a product of what was trending then there is no denying just how hard the verses groove! Seriously groovy, some music today is missing that element. I'm not cynical though. I've outgrown my former tastes but revisiting those tracks of yesteryear has pleasantly surprised me by how big the grooves were in their arrangements
