LYRICS
Stand tall and cut away the ties
Drop walls and hold that head up high
The world is fast and youth ain't gonna wait
So grab a hold before it gets to late
Bare your soul and strip away the cold
Of withered life thats past so gray and cold
Cause all the pain that thats filled these eyes you see
Was made to bleed just recently
Tears that made me
Ashamed to be me
But that gave me
Strength to see me
Made a spark that
Lit the dark
Let me shine
Time to see, believe this in me
The pain that i feel deep inside
Cause its time we come together
Be on because I'm bout to now
So do it now or never
I fall sleep to freeways far from here
Spend half the night just drinking beer
From this day on shall be the words
My flesh and bones shall make it heard
Don't you test Ill have to mess with you
Do my best so fuck the rest of you
One of these days
You'll see I've always been right
And it makes me glad
When i see the sun
And it makes me sad
When you feel my one
And i thank my god
Got a girl like you
And i thank my god
Did you save me

Nu Metal made today's mainstream shit look like a bitch back in the time. Who wouldn't miss that? I think any metalhead would prefer Nu Metal in the mainstream rather than whatever diarrhea they're putting out today. At least we'd have music with actual heart and charisma again. Bless Nu Metal. It's still the hero of the Metal world. We wouldn't have nearly as many metalheads today if it wasn't for Nu Metal. And the day we metalheads start getting along is the day we will rise again.

@@Amadeus_Eisenberg agree!! I fell in love with Nu Metal, it was unlike old school rock and nothing like thrash metal that was just full of screams. Nu Metal had a harmonic soft side to it, whilst also suprising you with rap or skats, and rifs just badass as any metal song. The base had a level of funk and slap that is unmatched in any rock/metal genre. And the styles.. you just gotta love em! Usually dreads mixed with bright colourful tracksuits.. and in korns case, kilts 😍 It was an era that woke me up musically, and connected itself deep within me emotionally, like it was speaking for me things i felt supressed to say. No other type of music ever did this for me and i think thats why i stayed with Nu Metal upto thos day and will forever. I still listen to korn on a daily, they were who i connected most with. I dread to think of my life without korn or Nu Metal

@@DownfallDarkness Sure I do! I'm not sure how you inferred that from my comment. What I was saying back 5 years ago when I made that comment was in my opinion it isn't cool to change your sound & image from what you genuinely are to what's popular simply to capitalize on it. Again just my opinion, but it makes me lose respect for them and tarnishes their legacy while at the same time belittling the nu metal bands that shaped the scene with genuine desire & passion. That's all! That said, I've seen them live since making that comment and they blew me away - but this song & video is still something I can point at and say 'Hey, that's not cool'.

+Maximiliano They modified it (this song) to fit with their current style of metal. I was shocked (and then kind of relieved) that they played this song. Robb didn't "rap" the lyrics but sung it a bit. Then they did a some heavy riff over that calm part were he's kind of mumbling the lyrics on the original version. A much better live representation of this song even though it not one my favorites.

+Justin Beabout I'm not very familiar with this stuff. I heard Machine head since the 90's and I knew some of their popular songs but I never really listened to a full machine head album until onto the Locust. After hearing that album I started listening to other albums like the blackening, Through the ashes... The acoustic set, and of course the new stuff. This is really one of the best shows I've ever been too. I'm so glad they skipped the opening band. I hope more bands start doing this.

+Go Green Besides the music the most important for me and what got me into Nu-Metal is lyrical content. I love traumatized cracking vocals, dark lyrics, anger, hate, pain and all that stuff. Nu-Metal is really the heaviest for me when it comes to that point. Thats why I always loved SlipKnot, Mudvayne, Deftones, KoRn's breakout and all that. I consider KoRn still as my most favorite band. But I admit that I hated later Nu-Metal influenced bands, crying and bitchin' about girls-drugs-relationships... And also the image it created, ok I'm mostly a Nu listener but I DON'T HAVE TO fucking have dreadlocks-spikey hair-chains-jumpsuits-tattoos or whatever the hell is considered as the "Nu-Metal look", thats what ruins and/or makes Nu-Metal a hated genre among other metalgenre fans.

The chorus of this song might appeal to most people lol, it's TV and radio friendly, also very catchy. Even if there are people who hate Heavy metal music and it's subgenres, they might like enjoy this song.

The Burning Red album is fantastic, Robb Flynn exorcised his demons and revealed a surprising amount of sadness and despair but ultimately strength on songs like Exhale the vile, Nothing left, Five & the title track. Even this song (especially the album version) is just pure catharsis, something that is missing from UTL in my opinion.

not their finest moment, but unfortunately music fans still judge them on this and refuse to listen to their new material without the notion they 'sold out'. its a shame because their new material is top shelf.
@kevinulasovich106
@kevinulasovich106 9 жыл бұрын
I was aware of this, but never listened to it. Had to just watch it a second time because it is that LOL bad! I've always judged them based on their more recent efforts which I don't like either. I believe the reason that people consider them a sell out band is because Robb Flynn could appear to be a trend hopper (the proverbial Madonna of metal): 80s thrash, 90s groove/nu metal, 00s metal esp. thrash/traditional revival. I know that you could make this comparison with many artists, however, with some other artists, their key contributions are just that awesome that they get a lifelong pass (cough)...(i.e."Beneath the Remains"), or their missteps are not quite this bad. Also, any band that is praised as much as this band is for certain albums ("The Blackening," "Burn My Eyes"), is also gonna receive a lot of criticism. Back in the day, I picked up "Burn My Eyes" just because of all the "classic"-type praise given to it and I just don't get it. Pretty...meh. Hope that helped! Keep on "Jumping the fuck up!"

One of the best old school rock metal music ever in the early mid 90s-2000s,men I miss the old way of nu-metal and hard rock style with those trendy clothes of loose fit pants, regular fit t-shirt,or else. That year was the best because I was born in 90s kids era but I was born on 1998.

It might be my generation but I can remember the house parties, rocking up in Adidas trackies or blue bolt jeans and nu rocks, so much wax in my hair to get it spiked up that I shouldnt have been any where near a naked flames .. these were the good times, before mobiles and shit that we are so preoccupied with now.
