Driving error. Need to turn downwind to unload the sail

I don't understand why anyone was on deck barefoot in those conditions. a stubbed toe or a twisted ankle or a cut foot and you've taken two people out - the injured and someone to take care of the injured.

Was not obvious from the video why the bow guy cut the tack? Did he cut it because the boat was wiping out? What about blowing the sheet and taking control with the lazy sheet to avoid more carnage?

It turns out that the tack blew on its own, which created the mess.

@@UK-Sailmakers-International That makes more sense. I had a tylaska blow on my tack under load just a few weeks ago, fortunately the timing was perfect as we were ready for a takedown anyway.

@@geoffmanchester6287 That's why most spinnaker sheets used on asymmetricals are tied on with bowlines.

Not to be to harsh, but that was all avoidable. The conditions were not unsuitable, just a chain of bad decisions!
