I love the original Tassie Devil. On light braid - and a good quality spinning reel - you can cast them a very long way! They are better suited for impoundments IMHO, and I have caught some good-sized trout on them while trolling in the tinnie. All the best Robbie.

I didn't even know you could get painted blades. Shows how much I've lost touch lol. Yeah I think I'd prefer the metal finishes with the greater reflectivity. They just look better too I reckon. Very informative, thanks Robbie.

I might give the large size spoon a go on yellow-belly in the lakes and dams shore based. Not sure that I could trust my skill to keep it from snagging when deep in the fallen timber. How did you fish them? Slow roll or a hopping action ect.

Maybe someday you can show us the casting and retrieving of spoons. I personally am confused as how it is to be done. Do you just retrieve it like a spinner or pause and retrieve or what? I imagine it's different depending on the water type and depth also.

Hey Robbie. Value your opinion greatly and wondered if when using spoons in lakes to chase big trout shore spinning, should I tie my mono directly to the split ring or attach a swivel to the split ring via split ring pliers? I have been told spoons are great but can cause a lot of line twist. Thanks, mate!
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing 4 ай бұрын
G'day Frank, I find that they twist the line a lot if you retrieve them too fast, causing them to make full rotations rather than swaying. I have always tied directly to the split ring myself. I think that you can buy some kind of swivels that you can tie a metre or so up the line that can spin and prevent line twist.

Do you know if they are still going to stock the family waterways with trout for the holidays this year or does it depend on the current situation. I assume that the regular stocking is still going to take place ie cod,yellas etc. Cheers Craig

Is a spoon the same as a Wobbler , or are they different ?

Very similar Mohammed. Compared spoons to wobblers is a bit like comparing Tassie Devils to Tilsons. Pretty much the same thing.

@@robbiefishing I don't know what is a Tilson - but I did read that spoons were actually teaspoons with the shaft cut off short , and a hole drilled in it.
