I watched this whole video. Better than meditation! My Swedish grandmother was a big shot weaver and designer for one of the largest textile mills in New York in the 40s. In her old age she had a giant loom in her house and I never tired of watching her create tapestries.

Nothing simpler and more relaxing than a little time at the wheel. Are you spinning anything?

I do a little spinning practice most days (missed yesterday due to being kept in hospital after a biopsy). At the moment, I'm spinning some sample combed tops of Shetland wool in various natural colours. I spun the dark charcoal brown first, and it's singing out to me saying that I need to spin up a whole garment's worth. I'm now working on the fawn, and I've still got a natural black, a creamy white and a pale, pale silver still to go. Like other people here, I definitely find spinning is a form of meditation, I call it physical meditation. I can't just sit still and meditate, my brain gets bored and then gets busy, but if I am spinning the spinning takes just enough attention that the rest of the brain activity slows down to a nice, relaxing rate. And I _love_ watching other people spin.

Just brought myself an Ashford upright wheel. It was l used when teaching myself to spin in the 80’s. Haven’t done much it the last 30 years but am determined to get back to it. 🇦🇺👋😊

Yes! You can do it! A little spa treatment for your wheel and a bit of oil, and you’ll be ready to go!

Singles are a mystery to me. What would you want to make with yarn that pills and falls apart?
@sweetgeorgia7 ай бұрын
Ah sorry, I misspoke. I’m spinning the singles that will be plied into a fractal yarn. I don’t generally keep yarns as singles. I edited the video title to clarify. 👍
