What Is Islam? Islam is not just another religion. It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him

To Rcbif - Really cool aircraft, thank you. I had a Magnus effect KITE in the 1950's, it had a little sweepback and a little dihedral, on the wing rotor spars. This made it much more stable.. Maybe you could try that..? It had no end-plates, maybe they are not needed.

Models like this already existed back in early 60's, but not motorized in any way. It was airlifted as a kite, helped by the rotating wings shaped like an S, while this model has flat wings. The whole thing would lift up while the wings were rotating against the wind and was held with a fishing line, exactly like flying a kite. In the distance it looked like a Hawk hovering above, and this model reminds me the same, a Hawk or some sort of bird with slow beat of wings. The 60's model wings were angled slightly upward like a kite so that the model would remain steady in the air. Amazingly, after all these years since the 60's I now see one, and it's electric.

It appears from the way the model tips forward in the ground that the C of G is too far forward which probably accounts for the difficulty in getting it to climb. The C of G needs to lie directly above or below the wing shaft to achieve neutral stability in the air. It may even be better to move it slightly behind the wing shaft but this is a matter of trial and error. The easiest way to move the G of G is to move the battery. Adding weight to the tail as an alternative will increase the overall weight requiring more power from the motor. If you move the C of G as suggested, you should find the elevator has more effect. At present the model relies on the motor’s elevated thrust line to keep the nose up and therefore the whole model from dropping. Once the elevator becomes more effective, height can then be controlled either using the elevator or increasing the thrust, assuming the model will them maintain level flight at less the full throttle. Adding a bit of dihedral to the wings will make it more stable by increasing the roll resistance, possibly allowing a more hands-off and relaxing method of control. Hope this helps.
@rcbif101
@rcbif101 6 жыл бұрын
Actually the reason it tips on the ground is just because of the curve of it's belly. The belly curve starts behind the CG, so it tips forward on the ground. The CG is at or near the shaft. Experimentation showed CG best just behind the shaft. I just didnt bother to design it to have landing gear. After more experience and tuning, it actually does fly hand-off as the low slung battery mimics dihedral. Adding rear dihedral would be interesting, but that would require two shafts, stronger bearing carriers, more weight, ect. Also, unless the shafts were linked, one could spin faster than the other which would make uneven lift.
@ianmathieson65
@ianmathieson65 6 жыл бұрын
Rcbif Many thanks for the update. You’ve confirmed what I expected, that a slightly rearward C of G would be best. Difficult to pinpoint its location in the video which is why I thought it was too far forward. Sorry I got it wrong. Adding an extension to the belly just ahead of the wing shaft would prevent it tipping forward on the ground. Not sure what you mean by rear dihedral. Does the shaft rotate in the fuselage with the wings attached to it or is the shaft fixed with the wings rotating around it? Simple bearing tubes made from a low friction plastic such as polythene or polypropylene should work ok without the weight penalty of metal ball races. Out of interest, have you tried firming the wings into an ‘S’ section as described in my reply to another further below? I’ve seen free-flying cylinders using this shape blade perform well in a good breeze when launched from a roof top. Anyway, glad to hear your tweaking has proved successful and it now flies hands-off. Well done.

Saw a video in KZbin a week ago about a "ducted fan wing?" by an inventor with backing from some university in Germany I think. Front Wing were tubes with something spinning inside the tube like a bagless vacuum cleaner. Cargo planes and short takeoffs were advantages. Try fan wing search. Update: Just saw a fan wing EU SOAR distributed propulsion von Karmen institute video that looks like what I saw last week.

I doubt you are really employing the Magnus effect here. The Magnus effect applies to a rotating cylinder or sphere, and only when the vehicle is moving forward w.r.t. air. Your wings are rotating but they are not cylinders. Can you take off vertically with only wings rotating, no prop pulling forward? If so, it is not the Magnus effect generating lift, as this would require forward (horizontal) motion btwn aircraft and air.
@rcbif101
@rcbif101 6 ай бұрын
This aircraft cannot glide if hand chucked - but only because the wings are low inertia, and the aircraft is high drag. It need ls a constant source of power - as does any magnus effect aircraft. As far as the wings not being a cylinder....what is a cylinder, but a square with "more sides"? After all, from far away, a decagon looks like a circle. If I made the magnus effect aircraft with a decagon, or even hectogon style cylinder and it flew - would it count? Or no, because it still has "sides"? Food for though.

@rcbif101
@rcbif101 6 жыл бұрын
Significant loss of forward airspeed, and my guess if high enough, eventually a straight down drop. The worst case is the main rotor slowing, stopping, and then reversing, because when throttle is reapplied, the forces may be too great and the rotors may tear apart. I have been meaning to do an upset recovery video with this aircraft which unfortunately may destroy it, but it will be valuable info for other builders. Stay tuned.

It has a great flapping action visual at a distance. A stunning 'thing' for the skies :) Am wondering about the 'wing' surface shape to increase lift...have you tried curving the blades or a KFm type ? Perhaps regular wing profiles that work great for lift but badly for inverted, helping the downward to upward transitions. Swappable wings would be an idea for tests.
@ianmathieson65
@ianmathieson65 6 жыл бұрын
Slider2732 Around 50 to 60 years ago when I was in my teens, I owned a kite sold with the name Revojet. It too used the Magnus effect - the wings were thin plastic sheet formed into an ‘S’ shape with the axis of rotation lying along the centre of the ‘S’. The shaft was made from a single length of thick piano wire bent where it passed through the fuselage to give the wings some dihedral. This greatly helped its roll stability. The whole thing was made from the same thin plastic sheet as the wings to minimise weight. The kite string was attached to the fuselage beneath the wings and it flew extremely well in a wide variety of wind speeds from a gentle breeze upward. When rotating the wings made a loud whirring sound which probably accounted for the name Revojet. The aspect ratio of each wing wing was much higher than in the model in the video - the chord was a much smaller proportion of the wing length. I wish I still had it - it was great fun and was different.

Hi,how about useing two independant motors to drive the padels and increase the size of the tail and elevator ? just a thought, regards Terry
@rcbif101
@rcbif101 6 жыл бұрын
If by "drive the paddle" you mean by air, I think the model could benefit from another propeller motor. If you mean drive them mechanically like being hooked up directly - I'm not sure the extra weight would be worth the extra paddle speed, but it is hard to say. If you do drive the paddles mechanically and much faster, you have to be sure the paddles are very balances, or else the high speeds may cause too much vibrations. If building lightweight, the tail could defiantly benefit from being larger, but for this model, it may be too much weight unless I change something to make it more efficient.

@rcbif101
@rcbif101 5 жыл бұрын
My guess would be no. It would weigh more to begin with, and then require a motor to spin it adding even more weight. This style self rotates once it gets going. I have to imagine the scoop like flaps on mine generate more negative pressure that the surface boundary of a cylinder could. I'm actually working on a new design now that will debut at Flite Fest 2019.

@@rcbif101 Good info, thanks. I'm also planning to experiment with this, I think I'll try to use the flap style like yours but cut out the inner section, so that I would essentially have 2 smaller scoops on the outer perimeter of the cylinder at a slight angle, similar to the FanWing but with fewer scoops. It will look more like a harvester but might be more functional than a complete hollow cylinder.
@rcbif101
@rcbif101 5 жыл бұрын
@@curiexr8292 I also learned the prop washed powered paddles may not be the best idea. If I redesigned this bird, I would aim for maybe only 5% of the prop overlapping the paddle. My newest mag model, the prop wash does not touch the paddle at all. Using angled fingers/tabs, forward airspeed alone can self start the flaps spinning. I tried a variation with each flap panel angled 30deg in the middle to form a crude "S" or impeller shape, but for some reason it was very unstable. Did not fly.
@curiexr8292
@curiexr8292 5 жыл бұрын
@@rcbif101 I'm surprised that the prop wash isnt helping, actually I thought that the way you positioned the motor would benefit the magnus effect, as compared to some other motor configurations I've seen that actually work against the effect. I was just disappointed that I couldnt find more information about lift/drag differences between various configurations like flap peddles/tabs/complete hollow cylinders etc. Guess we are the few crazy ones haha. Amazing. How does it keep from getting pitched down? It seems that there would be a lot of torque from both the magnus wing and the prop itself, both trying to pitch the nose down. The horz-stabilizer can compensate for all that?
@rcbif101
@rcbif101 5 жыл бұрын
The Magnus wing is free spinning so there is no torque, but there is a moment arm caused by the drag of the magnus wing and the motor being higher above wing centerline. So you are correct, the model does want to pitch down some. The solution was considerable positive motor thrust angle (motor pointed upward maybe 15 deg), so that some of the propwash hits the horizontal stabalizer, pushing the tail down, thus rotating the nose back up. This results in overall inefficiencies (along with the design of some of the propwash hitting the magnus wing for auto-start), but it works. My new design for this year has the motor below the wing. I lose the advantage of prop-wash autostarting the wing, but my prototype now climbs like a homesick angel at only 1/2 throttle.
