For the ones complaining about the mutant, I think everybody is forgetting that the source material was all about mutations. The only so-called dinosaurs we saw in the park were the ones that successfully reflected what we think dinosaurs look like. That is a big theme in Michael crichton's books. I for one am excited for the new twists

I'm excited for the idea of a mutant dinosaur. I have always had the thought in mind of what happened when they first started cloning the dinosaurs. Like what monsters did they accidently make while trying to make the dinosaurs that we see in all the films. They can't have done it perfectly from the start at some point they had to have made something monstrous, and I am glad to see it put to film.

In the book, its written that there were 5 islands rhey used to make the dinosaurs 🦕 for jurassic Park. Called the 5 Deaths. Because they were all unsuccessful in terms of longevity because they all got overrun by dinosaurs 🦕. Some very bad dinosaurs too. This is one of those islands.

I feel like all the people who complain about the mutants and hybrids keep forgetting this whole franchise’s origins were about what can go awry when we try to play god. genetic tampering leading to disaster was literally what this franchise was built around. I’ve heard people complain about the indomnius just looking like a big, slightly different looking raptor/trex. This thing was probably designed to be an entirely new kind of dinosaur that doesn’t look like a slightly augmented variant of a pre existing species. Kind of a reverse speculative evolution type deal to create something truly distinct that still looks like a dinosaur that could have existed under the right circumstances.

The people behind this are doing wonders with this film, the animals look so much like movie monsters but at the same time like irl dinosaurs, it's amazing. ​@@RPGeek it fits well with the themes of the film about how the scientists messed with power they couldn't comprehend and how that was bad both for them and the animals that got heavily mutated, it's basically a gradual build up from the original 6 movie's message and the now extra mutated and also Paleo accurate dinos, which then leads to the xenomorph looking thing, I don't say it DOES work and it needs to be executed perfectly for that to be the case but I am saying however that it LOOKS like it works, given how it seems to be getting implemented into the film with it's whole point being how out of place it is. In simpler terms, this is MEANT to be a failed experiment at creating a megathereopod, thus it makes sense that it looks so off given that they probably filled the gaps with stuff they shouldn't have, it feels weird at first but it works really well and feels like a concept straight out of the of film, but cranked up to 11.

The mosa could benefit by having the spinos help it hunt land prey without beaching itself. And the dilo looks different enough to me, the frill pattern has black spots and the body has dark green/brown along the back. Im still figuring out how i feel about all this and will definitely watch it more times. Also love to hear about paleo-accurate F16s!

Pros: - Incredible visuals. Very vibrant, earthy-tones that look beautiful amongst the dinos. And Gareth finally brought back a much needed sense of scale to the creatures. - More attention seems directed at writing good characters, and the character dynamics seem very interesting so far. - The Dinosaur designs all look incredible for the most part, also bringing back unique color configurations which is nice. (Wish they used a different Dilophosaurus model and the design of the mutant looks very ugly) - The plot and vibe of the movie is most reminiscent of The Lost World novel and film which is always exciting to see. - The set pieces all look original and fun. Cons: - The idea of a mutant dinosaur could work, but it seems a little silly in this (mainly due to the design not looking remotely like a dinosaur, rather a weird alien-monster) - Tonally it comes off as little too MCU-adjacent, but that could just be the way the trailer was edited. - The plot seems a little unrealistic and far out in some areas, but we should just wait for the film before jumping to conclusions. - The kids seems a little hamfisted in at this point but I'm not complaining too much

I’m nervous and excited about some of the design changes. Spinosaurus is the biggest. I’m also not excited for more hybrid/mutants…thought Indoraptor was stated to be the last. @marcopaulo_ ya I realized it's one of the 2 islands 🏝 that's mentioned in the second book of the series. In the second book its mentioned that there was 2 islands that were abandoned that were used prior to the 5 deaths an it had some private investors that Ian didn't get along with. Not much is mentioned about them other than they were currently overrun with dinosaurs. I think their keeping it quiet cause it wasn't Ian who spear headed these two islands. He wasn't the main guy in charge of giving the ok to work on them their. I think it was woo. Or another subordinate of Ian's. This movie will answer alot of questions surrounding those 2 islands an probably leave us with more questions about the second island 🏝 that got left behind. These 2 islands came about either right before the 5 deaths or very close to when they happend. Very close timeframe overall

I understand that some people say that those of us who didn't want a mutant or hybrid don't understand Michael Crichton's idea of "playing God" and that things can go wrong. But those people don't get that this franchise is not about monsters; it's about DINOSAURS. Dinosaurs are already amazing enough on their own, there's no need to add hybrids or mutants. 14:22 The "n" that we see on that panel looks to me more like the "n" used at the end of the biosyn logo, not the "n" used at the end of the ingen logo. Alongside this, I believe that the incubation chamber that is shown with all of the more flowing designs matches the more elegant technology used by biosyn. Note: it's really sad that i could identify the "n" instantly in the trailer. 😭 It's not surprising, however, because I watch too much of the Jurassic Park franchise (I've watched Jurassic Park over 20 times already this year).

Thank goodness I'm not the only one disappointed with the Quetz design! There's hard, fossilized proof that its crest was over the eyes; and the Dominion production were also willing to consider that as fitting into the Jurassic design style. Why change that??? The other designs actually look alright, Titanosaurus and Spinosaurus might be a little goofy, but at least their core body structures are relatively reflective of what they were in reality.

I love the trailer! The D Rex is a crazy concept but a fun one for me if done right! Which I think they did. It’s menacing and displays to me a failed fusion attempt, at least to the levels of Indominus

So, for the Quetz, the design team took inspiration from Tucans, hence the weird bill shape. So, they may have actually been modified to fit a tropical biome using bird DNA.

Thank you for your analysis. I'm really impressed by the potential of this film. I think I'm going to love it! Just 2 things haven't convinced me. The mutant, not because of the mutant itself, but because of its look. And I think I was expecting a more horror kind of tone from the trailer. One thing many observed is that the old InGen facilities look too modern. But someone has said that there could be a plot twist, in which actually, it's not true it was completely abandoned

I don't really have a ton of thoughts on the D-rex, other than it kinda scares me. Being able to handwave mutations for all kinds of weird designs has me very curious! Fully expecting some nightmare fuel, but hopefully also some really cool stuff they might make merch of.

6:39 Anyone else notice the raptor has two heads? 12:47, I can make up an in-universe justification for the Dilophosaurus being similar. Nobody said this island wasn't where BioSyn got some of their materials. Maybe they're even why this place went to hell to begin with, just like on Nublar when Nedry screwed the pooch? I'm personally hoping this film is an indicator that we may get nods to Chaos Effect. In fact, that "Titanosaur" reminds me a bit of Amargospinus. You gotta admit, a Chaos Effect spin-off series would be a load of fun to watch.

I'm actually a fan of the new hybrid. If you're going to make a mutant dinosaur, go nuts. The Indominus just looks like a weird dinosaur. I will die on the hill that the best hybrid in the Jurassic series is the Scorpius Rex from the show. It looks weird, it climbs and it's hands and mannerisms are messed up. It twitches around like there's something wrong with it

To be fair, I don’t think it was ever established that BioSyn made that kind of Dilophosaurus. There are multiple variants of several InGen dinosaurs. Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus, Pterandon and Triceratops as some notable examples, so it’s not impossible that they made a different kind of Dilo

It seems like a lot of the designs for the dinosaurs in the movie are the result of genetic modifications or natural evolution. Animals have been known to evolve rapidly when put into extreme situations when in risk of extinction. It's been over 30 yrs so the animals best equipped to survive will be the ones currently inhabiting the island.
