Yeah that's because Toho needed stuff on the shelf because of licensing but gvk got delayed so they had to do something quick, playmates then settled a deal with bandai to use their figures just stamping playmates logos over everything, they used the same boxes with different kaiju.

I will tell the difference from 1989-1995 1989 _mascular 1991-more mascular 1992 - spine rearange neck had ladder shape and flat head with golden eyes 1993- same but the arms and legs are slim 1994-more mascular and larger neck and eye 1995- same as 1994 but with the burning look

I remember how back then I really wished and dreamed to get these figures, which I never did and still haven't, not even sure if I want to nowadays cause of import and ship taxes for me, but I will say most of these figures looked awesome, especially the previous ones as I see the minimal paint problem on the current figures, couldn't care less about the detailed s.h. monsterarts or other figures alike, these ones would do it for me, if life ever gives me a chance to get some of these I'd gladly take it, but it's ok if I can't get them at all. Though speaking of Ultraman monsters I recall some of those figures being the same size as the movie monster series figures but eventually reduced the size for some reason.
