@@TraditionalHippie It is applied by enjoying every day of your life, without stopping to regret your mistakes, learning from them and growing as an individual, also not putting limits on that growth by fighting and going beyond your comfort zone to become even better than what you thougt you could be.

A wise man once told me, back in 1998... Tool is gospel. I was intelligent enough then, to understand what he meant, he wasn't saying it in a literal sense, of course. I had quite a lot of intelligent conversations with this person, so I'm telling this to you from a personal experience standpoint. Tool doesn't put a song out, without having some weight and intention behind it. The musicianship speaks for itself.

@@TraditionalHippieI can answer for them. My dad drowned when I was 1, and my mom surrounded herself with junkies and other hard-drug using violent people throughout my childhood. Beatings weren't abnormal. My sister and I still got straight A's, in both high-school and college. Sheerly out of spite. Is the spiral setting in?

This track changed my life. To me, this is beyond a master piece. Musically, the time signatures, the sounds, the lyrics, the vocals, including science (Fibonacci Sequence) / geometry, the message, the emotion, & truly, 4 band members becoming 1. 🤘🏻🌀

I just watched a video that was titled “Why are Tool fans so obsessed?” The things that I’ve learned from this band couldn’t touch my Master’s. I get that they’re fucking with us. I enjoy that they are fucking with us. I’ve almost shaped my life around Fool, but I also know they don’t want me to. Dichotomy. I’m a different person because I found this band at 15. Learn to swim. 🌀

I love how they say that overthinking and over analyzing seperates the body from the mind, then write the song in Fibonacci sequence, making you overthink it. They fuck with your mind.

Fantastic reaction. Such a masterpiece of a song ❤I highly recommend going and finding the live version of this (Final 2002 concert) - tuning out the world and just spiraling out. It’s a crappy phone illegal video like all tool videos, BUT it gets the job done. Maynard’s performance is ridiculous.

I feel the overall meaning of this song is positive. It’s about appreciating the sanctity of life itself. Both the good and the chaos. To live your life to the fullest to push the envelope of who you are and spiral and keep going and let the random happen. At the 2002 Rapid City concert Maynard gave a short speech prior to the last song of the concert which was Lateralus. He said. “Thank you very much for sharing this moment with us tonight, we would hope that something that we shared together tonight will leave you, inspired and or healed on some level. And it is our hope that you take this feeling home with you and in the coming weeks and coming months and coming years. We would encourage you to use this feeling to create something positive. Thank you very much!”

Your first TOOL video you said you hate to think. Bullshit, you are smart and TOOL makes you think every single song. Best band ever and this song is an absolute masterpiece. Glad you caught the spiral out reference. It's the only way to grow as a human vs living a downward spiral into a black hole of nothing. Trust your intuition because overthinking often leads to doing nothing. Live, do, embrace the unknown and you find where life starts living. Next TOOL song is up to the requests or whatever dart you throw at the song lists. You won't go wrong. They do have filler tracts to set up the next song soundscape so by themselves won't be great but don't hesitate to lump them in.

On this album the popular opinion is this one is the masterpiece, while I agree the message is positive the one I hold in higher standing is the grudge and reflection which is part of "the triad" and Lateralus is the key/way to understand the growth it takes to spiral out, not to forget abt the message of the grudge that starts the album to "let it go"

I can’t wait for you to witness the epic build that is Right in Two! Speaking of a witness you need to check out “The Witness” by Adam Jones. It’s a promo music video for Adam Jones’ special edition of his 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom. It a really cool music video and song he co-wrote for the project. It is instrumental meaning no Maynard but Danny and Justin might be apart of it. 😋

In July 2017, Maynard's friend Joe Rogan described his writing process in his podcast; "He wrote a song to the Fibonacci sequence. The Fibonacci sequence is a mathematical sequence. It starts from one, the next number is one, and the next number being two, creates the 2+1 which is three, continuing in this mathematical progression. That's how they found the chord progression. It began linking up to the Fibonacci sequence." The syllables Maynard sings in the first verse follow the first six numbers in the pattern, ascending and descending in the sequence 1-1-2-3-5-8-5-3. "Black (1), then (1), white are (2), all I see (3), in my infancy (5). Red and yellow then came to be (8), reaching out to me (5). Lets me see (3)." In the next verse, Maynard begins with the seventh number of the Fibonacci sequence (13), implying a missing verse in between. He descends back down with the following pattern; 13-8-5-3. "As below so above and beyond I imagine (13). Drawn beyond the lines of reason (8). Push the envelope (5). Watch it bend (3)." The second verse adds the missing line to complete the sequence; "There is (2), so (1), much (1), more that (2), beckons me (3), to look through to these (5), infinite possibilities (8)." 1-1-2-3-5-8-5-3-2-1-1-2-3-5-8-13-8-5-3.
