Spirit Beside Me - Pilot Episode | Synopsis
Thousands of years ago, a King (Kue Lee) of the Hmong Kingdom orders his most trusted Royal Guard (Yujin Thao) to inspect a village that people say have been attacked. The Daughter of the King (Sua Vang) who has seer-like abilities warns the Royal Guard not to go. The Royal Guard, loyal to the King and kingdom, obeys the orders; he travels out with his men.
The Royal Guard with his soldiers sees a small shelter suspicious in the woods. The shelter looked as if it was just recently abandoned with food still warm, but everything seems to be empty.
…or so they thought.

Great concept but some feedback for improvement from a nobody-viewer who's a big fantasy nerd: 1. Setting design - It's based in 2500 BC but the setting design looks way too modern. It breaks the immersion. White cubic tree pots that look like they're from Ikea, the palace room looks like my uncle's funeral home -- too western, the throne looks like one I'd see in a Medieval Britain kid's museum instead of a 2500 BC Hmong kingdom, the cooking pot that looks like the one I bought at the Asian market last week, the necklace looks like a cheap candy machine-one that I'd get at Hmong Village, the swords that look like they've never been used before -- why not just stick with the rustic Hmong machete design that is iconic to our culture instead of going for a shiny Roman Gladius-styled sword? 2. Acting - Not bad actually for a pilot episode...until the forest fight. You have a swarm of mindless villagers attacking, but the group of scouts are stopping to talk to each other in full heartfelt sentences during the battle? Just too unrealistic. This is a live action film, not an anime. 3. Characters - The costumes aren't that bad besides the Roman Gladius swords. But again, everyone looks too clean and too modern. The male hairstyles are immersion-breaking. Most of them look like 21st century Hmong guys who just came back from the korean hair salon and not 2500 BC Hmong warriors. The long-hair soldier was the only one who looked the part because yes in 2500 BC long scruffy hair was probably a thing for males. Overall, the setting needs to look more rustic, ancient, and less western. I get that it's a fantasy but this is a live action portrayal of a 2500 BC Hmong Kingdom in a time turmoil and uncertainty. Take pride in our culture and create a setting that resonates with our roots. Straw housing structures in the mountains, Hmong machetes, a rough and unforgiving region where we wouldn't have justin-bieber-haircuts and porcelain clean faces and clothes. We are a nomadic ethnic group that stayed true to our roots and refused to be conquered throughout the ages, and I wish this could be portrayed better. I really like the concept behind this great project but it relies too heavily on western-inspired modern designs. Still gonna support you guys regardless. Keep up the great effort. You guys are paving the way for future Hmong artists and movie directors.

Yes, definately a great concept. But it needs to be more inspired by our culture and history. Most ancient Chinese, Japanese or Korean series is based off their history and culture....even if it was fantasy related. Be nice to see a drama that is hmoob culture focus. If it ever does become a hit drama.....it should be something that leaves behind good things in the back of people's mind when they wonder "What is Hmong?". A bit of hmoob history with a fictional twist is cool as long as it's hmong inspired. Something that would make people not think it's just another typical Hmong movie. Their needs to be a balance when it comes to portraying certain emotions.

i should say first that i will not choose sides nor favoring anything on what im going to say here but to be very very honest. i think this is still far from what i would consider "GOOD". i know some of you or even alot of you will disagree with that but thats okay. everyone has their own experiences and knowledge about this topic of cinematography or film making so i'm not gonna say much about that, whether you think this is good enough or not so much, or maybe not even close, i'll leave that for you to decide but since you're comparing this to our usual hmong movies that are produced in thailand, that makes its very interesting because i must be honest with you that i still think even some our old movies are still at the very least better than this. now i'm not saying they did a bad job or anything but i'd definitly say that it was not up to my expectations. when i was watching the concept video from the director himself, i gotta admitted i was quite excited and hyped for this movie, and i had also waited for quite sometime too with my excitement expecting something new or something great that we'd ever yet to see in our hmong films, or ya know something new that i could have hope for because as growing up watching our hmong movies, i understand that we're lacking alot of things in the film entertainment category and so i was really hoping for something great from this movie. however most of the stuff they did in this film was really not anything new that we'd never seen, so since you're comparing it to our hmong movies that are produced in thailand, i must say that to me, i think its the opposite XD , in a friendly way though so no butt hurt alright lol. now if onsider that this movie was a 50k budget film compare to most of our hmong movies that are produced in thailand with only 30k max or even lower, that should give you a good enough reason to start with, but if you still dont get it then i'll point them out for ya, im just a little bit tooo lazy to write an entire essay so i think that budget alone should give you an idea why i say that. but just a quick comparison for you so you dont have to think too hard on why, lets just compare this to these movies like nuj nplaib thiab ntxawm - the original movie, pov sis txam, npaj thaub, nkaus npua teb, ncaub fab, and other ones that i dont remember their names, these hmong movies are still the best that we'd ever produced so far even now in 2019, and yes i said now. even know days there is not a hmong director or producer i know that could produced anything that is at least better than these few movies i've mentioned, and im not even expecting something 10x or just 2x better? not even 1.5x, at least just something a little better like 1x maybe yet its still hard to come by. so if you just think about that, you know we've got a long way to go buddy. i know we've come along way and we're improved a little bit since then but i gotta say that it wasn't anything at all because from what i can see from these newer generations are just the technical improvement due to the generation of technologies moving forward only, not our skills and knowledge, its still a cheap ghetto movie but just in 1080p instead of 480p lol. like i've said, due to technologies moving forward only, not us :(

I honestly thought this wasn't bad. I feel like Hmong filmmaking have improved over the years. We've definitely come a long way. However, as for this, I thought the action scenes and some of the acting could use more work though. Something that doesn't come off too corny or unnatural. Other than that, great job guys! If this is done right, this could very well be a successful HDrama. We're heading in a right direction. Just need a few more improvements is all. Btw, this kinda gave me Game of Thrones or Goblins (Kdrama) vibe as well. Not bad. I'd personally like to see where this goes. But I guess not if this is discontinued.

@@dangermanv6133 Aye man. I know they've been making movies like this wayyyy back then. In fact, I grew up watching Hmong movies with my grandparents. I have ALWAYS been a huge supporter of Hmong filmmaking regardless if I knew them or not. Now that I've grown up and look back at the old movies, it's nostalgic for sure, but also corny and lacks of quality. What I meant was the quality, vfx, and filmmaking has improved over the years. Which is a right step in the Hmong filmmaking industry. Story wise and acting wise, not there yet. But I'm sure we'll improve there too as we did with the quality of filmmaking. Since there's a lot of Hmong American kids these days, I'm sure they'd want to go to film schools and whatnot. We have online tutorials too. Which helps a lot. That's probably one of the reasons why Hmong filmmaking has improved over the years. Btw, I don't even know the people in here personally. So don't assume I know these people and that they are my friends, DangerMan V. I just like films in general, and I like supporting any filmmakers in general. Especially being Hmong, I like seeing Hmong filmmaking improve and being better in quality. That's all. It makes me proud as a Hmong, personally, because we've come a long way. That's why I said it sucks other Hmong people are being so damn negative towards other Hmong people. Smh.
@treylee7791
@treylee7791 4 жыл бұрын
@tom young I agree. I think the OG actors are fine with their Hmong since they've spoken it throughout their life and were born speaking Hmong unlike the new gen Hmong people who had American schools and who were essentially raised into the American culture. Gotta admit, I'm not great great at Hmong myself, but I'm trying to be great at it again these days. Gotta keep the Hmong culture and language alive, man. But back to the acting, I'm sure the delivery of lines and how some of them pronounce their Hmong are what makes it unnatural too. Learning and pronouncing your Hmong is one thing, which should be important for these Hmong content/films (because that'd be like a Chinese person not speaking their Chinese properly in a movie), but stepping into your character's shoes naturally is another thing. To anyone who wants to be in the acting industry of any kind, I'd say at least join an acting class of some sort (could be online class too since that's more accessible these days) to gain more knowledge and to better yourself. That's always a plus. But overall, these guys aren't too bad. Just some minor stuff they need to fix, and they'll be fine.

Copy pasting my review from Facebook. So took time to watch the pilot. Gotta say it is eh. Though it is only the pilot it does very little to get you invested in the characters. There's a reason why most shows are an hour to see hour and a half format especially for dramas. You have to take the time to build the characters and make the audience care about them. You can't feel sad or angry for a character that was just introduced 5 minutes ago. If they die then what was the point of putting them in the show? The natural backdrops were very nice but the shot of the gathering hall was laughable. The show (or is it film? Opening cinematic says it's a film) takes place more then a thousand year ago but their gathering hall is lit by light bulbs and electricity? You can see the lamps hanging in the gathering hall they look too modern for the setting of the film. Acting wasn't terrible and I think they did rather well for the 3 main cast. Extras were hilarious though, I get extras won't always give 100% since they are just extras but come on were those shots in the forest done in one take? In scene as one of the Royal Guard screams out the main characters name one of the extras looks directly at the Royal Guard as if they were caught by surprise. Did no one see that and think "We need to retake one of extras screwed up". The "zombies" were bad it looks like the director just told them run around in circles or if they are holding a weapon to move back and forth constantly like you are ready to attack. Scenes of the zombies eating the Royal Guard were unnecessary as you could tell they were just pawing at the actors and not really doing anything. It makes it worse when one of the Royal Guards just jumps out of being eaten alive and the only damage he has is..... dirt on his face. Another scene where one of the Royal Guard forces two other Guards to return to the palace was hilariously bad, he has you locked in by one arm... how are you struggling to break free from his master hold. That was probably the worse acted scene. Camera work was probably the highlight of the episode. Like they got that right at least, though I would have preferred more wide angle shots instead of close up shots. Close up shots, to me at least show that they couldn't get the lines read correctly with both characters on screen, so they did close up shots so they can cut when they needed to and use the best takes even if both scenes were done at a different times. As some have already said, costume design looks to Western and European when it should look know Eastern and Asian considering their setting. Overall it's not a great outlook for the show (or film.. make up your mind on what it is) when the pilot fails to present an interesting story and characters for viewers. I'll keep an eye out and watch the show as they release it but I have very little confidence it'll get better. Prove me wrong Windstruck Productions.

I agree. I watched this pilot episode twice, the second time just to study. This pilot could use more character building and story refinement. I feel like some parts are "cheesy" and "unessential" (i.e. when one of the royal guards discovers a cooked chicken and starts munching on it and then mocks the shaman(?) for his lack of salt, or when the princess "nodded" to herself before meeting up with Tuazeej). It almost irks me when we have a camera shot going from full shot to close up and then back to a full shot, yet nothing changes. Then of course the fight scene was poorly executed. I feel like if the director didn't feel competent in directing the fight scene, he could've avoided the fight and went with something simpler, yet just as powerful. Maybe they were ambushed from the hordes of zombies and had to flee, but in the most dramatic and sacrificial way. Maybe this was an opportunity for Tuazeej's character to unfold, to show the audience that he is willing die for his comrades...but no. The royal guard had to drag everyone away from the zombies with his bare arms. The ending threw me off a bit because now I'm not sure if the film is a comedy or not. On the positive side, I like the textures and Hmong symbols on the amors. Overall, this to me feels like a student film project. I too have very little confidence in the next episode, but lets not lose all hope. Maybe they will read all of these comments and re-write the script (if there's any).

(SPOILER REVIEW, these are my opinions, I'm not a professional film critic. Just a viewer.) This short film pilot was good. Not the worst and not the best. It still has flaws but every film has flaws so that's normal. The opening intro was really good. As in the narrative speaking intro, if you seen any Netflix original show opening, actually think WALKING DEAD opening, then you can tell that this film had a good opening with the music and art cg. The beginning of the film introducing the king and royal guards actors along with the princess was good. Not much to say about it, but it did well to establish that the king was somehow a cruel king going far as sentencing a man to death immediately after he brought news, but soon we find out that king he's been corrupted by a spirit and that's why he did what he did. As for the the kings acting. I thought it was going to be cheesy but at the end of film I have to say he was the best actor for me. I'm not gonna rate the other actors because they did fine, they had strong moments and like all actors, there was some areas where they could improve. Skipping to the fight scene, I'm pretty sure everyone had a problem with this scene. Yes this scene could had done better and I'm also not going to point out all the flaws because everyone's complained about it but the only thing I will complain from the scene is one detail that made me think "I think everyone's going to notice that", and that is the blood, where is the blood from killing the possessed villagers? why isnt the blood on the obvious clean silver short sword? the blood only appears at the end of our main male leads death. Just that one small detail that I had a problem with, because if the blood was evident in the beginning I think it could had heighten the drama of the fight to show that it was indeed a life or death situation. As for the chemistry of the male and female lead. It was fine. won't judge because it's the first episode so it was fine. The female lead singing at first bothered me bit but then I changed my mind, I could see how the director wanted to implement that singing into the scene to build a sense of longing and sadness for the girl and it worked well. Also i thought that the singing might be her saying a spell but thats just a theory! a film theory! Now to end this, the ending! I'm talking about the present day scene. It was expected, I saw that coming and did expect it base on the title. Also if you watched any K DRAMA or Anime you already know where it's heading and how the two leads are going to interact in the present. Overall, I want a refund. Joking aside. The film was good.

That kongmeng guy was getting pinned down by a bunch of people/monster but when called, he stood up immediately? Her pronounciation and enunciation of Hmong words in the movie were decent. 🤷 Being able to fluently speak a particular language in real life is not and should not be a requirement to acting. We have a lot of international actors/actresses who barely speak English in real life star in Hollywood movies speaking English.

@FUN FACT So can you not understand her in the movie? The point of good acting is looking the part and playing a character well. Actors play singers in movies and many can't sing in real life and need voice overs with real singers but no one's complaining because they're ACTORS. While I can speak, read, and write Hmong, I don't feel the need to judge my fellow Hmong people who can't nor make them feel less because I understand the challenge being a stateless group of people who lives biculturally no matter where we are.

Production wise, it was enjoyable. However, if they keep the story in ancient times, the princess needs a whole new wardrobe. They overdid her wardrobe and made her dress like an old lady. Her head piece and hair just looks so out of place. They should have went the unconventional way and dress her in tight fitting clothes. i.e. dark, short, pleaded skirt with thigh high boots and cropped top. I guess the head piece could be ok with her hair in a bun or in pig tails. The soldiers...the soldiers' armor kind of irritated me...seems like something was missing. It's like the armor was made for a cold climate but in short sleeves and didn't look thick enough. Dialogues were too plain, they lack interest. I've seen better dialogues in text messages. Like when Yujin said "I have lied to you. Sorry" A better dialogue would be something like, "Forgive me, I can not keep the words I gave you." Just my 2 cents...besides that, I can't wait for upcoming episodes.

MESSAGE TO HMONG AMERICAN WRITERS: If you're gonna have the original script in English, at least translate it to more meaningful Hmong words. As a lot of people has voiced out, it comes off really unnatural. For example, instead of "Kuv tau dag koj," (because Hmong people don't really say that in this kind of context) Yujin should have said something along the lines of, "Koj ua tsis tau li wb cov lus cog tseg." Yea, it's longer but more nautural lol But overall, this episode was good! I especially loved the ending lol will be waiting for the next episodes! 😁

I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi or fantasy films if they are not utilized properly. That being said, I think yall should considered making a psychological thriller film kind of like Korean thriller films out there; It will definitely push your actors/actresses to work harder on their acting ability. You guys have potential to bring great stuff for Hmong cinema. Don't let it go to waste. So far this "Spirit Beside Me" project of yours has shown more weakness over strength.

It's not a short film. It's supposed to be a Hmong Drama. Kind of like a kdrama. A pilot episode means it's testing the water to see if people will like it. If they do, the series continued on with many episodes. If not, the series stop because lack of funds and support from it's audience.
@kngkng91

i actually really like it! There are reasons for why things happen the way the director directed it. Watch it for what it is. People are already complaining about the acting and the way they talk etc. It’s great that the audiences are also giving feedback. That’s what the film crew needs. But come on you guys, have you guys seen hmong dubbed movies? They talk that way for the cinematic purposes of the film. It’ll just be cringy if they talk like normal everyday Hmong talk 😂 Acting is bland? Sure maybe a little. But give them a fighting a chance. Acting is hard. Fighting scene is bad? I do agree a little LOL. I watch a lot of historical dramas myself and have seen amazing sword fights. But Hmong people aren’t necessarily war warriors that fight. So it’s ganna be a little awkward. But it’s ok 👌🏼 And pleasseeeee, you just can’t keep comparing this to Kdrama/CDrama/Jdrama that has already have an establishment of YEARS of cinematography and knows what their audiences are expecting. It’s only a pilot episode, don’t shut it down, rather hype it up and hope the next one is up to your expectations. The fact that this is the first Hmong drama, I have very high hopes! I’m excited and am pleased with this pilot episode. Great work! Keep it up, can’t wait to see this continue 🤗

Cinematography is the same everywhere unfortunately, it's all about budget and how well they used the money to make the show. Also sorry but you can't ask people not to compare it. It's an H-drama which was created specifically for those who watch K/C/J dramas so naturally people will make the comparison. It's good to have high hopes though, if it succeeds then we have a new industry for Hmong filmmakers.

I'm actually not comparing to any non-Hmong movies/dramas. I just think acting and dialogues are unnatural.
@kngkng91
@kngkng91 5 жыл бұрын
@@ffboi7 Hey there, thanks for the reply. Yes, I agree that cinematography is the same everywhere and the budget does play a role. However, I still don't think we should compare Hdrama to others YET. Key word - YET. This drama was not necessarily made specifically for audiences who are familiar with C/K/Jdramas. It started with a story that the writer wanted to share. A fantasy. I've imagined many of us have fantasy themed stories in our heads we once wanted to share. The difference is that the writer was able to start making this into his reality. And fantasies are similar in ideas globally so I understand the comparatives. However, let me rephrase: not saying that we CAN'T, but rather that we SHOULDN'T compare. Sure it reaches audiences who are more familiar with non-Hmong dramas and it's definitely natural for audience to jump and compare. But we shouldn't be comparing Hdrama to other dramas quite yet because if it becomes already way too similar to a C/K/Jdrama, then Hdrama is nothing but a C/K/Jdrama "wanna-be.” And that doesn’t sound like a good connotation. Once it’s labeled as a “wanna-be,” it’s kind of hard to progress from that point. How is it that we are able to watch other dramas as their own kind (and really without much criticism) but can’t watch Hdrama as its own? That’s because it doesn’t have a well-established base yet unlike the others no matter the budget or the process. But I really do hope that one day we’ll be able to watch Hdrama as its own kind without saying stuff like “Oh, this would be better if they make it look like a scene from this Chinese drama.” Because we don’t watch a Chinese drama and go “Oh, this scene should look more like this Korean drama.” And even when a Cdrama and a Kdrama have similar fantasy themes, we don’t necessarily compare the two to each other’s. Hdrama is still a baby. It’s bound to be criticized a lot. And that’s ok. But it shouldn’t be deemed as a low quality C/K/Jdrama. Excuse me for writing a lot. Just wanted to be clear and feel complete with my point and get it out of my head. Hopefully it make sense. lol. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Arblia man I just love your comment 💜💜 I agree completely what you said💜 Hdrama should be a little more different. In my opinion, I believe this type of film is something new from the director genre so got to give him credits and support no matter what. Been a fan of the director since his Hmong web series (the ones with the lady and about her mom not liking him- melo funny drama type of feeling). If you have watched those, then you would have got a great feeling at the end of this episode going into the upcoming episodes. Looking forward to it! Fighting!!! Can’t wait!! 😎🙌

The actors and actresses were lacking in acting and dialogue was kind of off. If they put a little time into really tapping into thair emotions, it'll be great! Scene transitions was kind of rough. All that aside, wow. Pat yourself on the back, Touacha. This is a huge step for Hmong cinematography. We could pin point all the flaws in the pilot but we have to remember this is a low budget, crowd funded project. The FX and props are good quality and the did bring out the best with what they have. Scenery settings were beautiful and really bringing out the moment. Throughout the pilot, only a couple actors could really bring out some emotions. Towards the end of the episode with that crying scene. Wow. Got me right in the feels. The story doesn't lag or drag on and it gets to the point and you know what's going on. This drama looks original and has exceeded my expectations as a film fanatic. Great work to Touacha and the rest of the crew. Looking forward to what he brings next next. Best of luck and great job. 8/10!

I know it’s just a pilot episode, but nobody was introduced and we didn’t even get to meet or know the characters enough for us to feel upset about them being split up. The armor is too westernized. If we're to go pure fantasy might as well add some wizards. Our close proximity to China means our armor probably looked similar to theirs. Same reason why Mongol and Japanese armor looks similar to Chinese armor, their ideas bounce off each other. In Eastern heritage, military armor was made of metal plates or leather. This type of armor is used all the way towards Eastern Europe, once you get to Western Europe you start seeing plate armor depicted in this episode. Just saying.

Honestly, this pilot episode was a bit better than I expected. Good cinematography! The director, producers, and editors have done a great job on that. I was thinking that the fighting scene could have been a bit better, or come off more natural? I think the scene I thought was kind of random was when the soldier Koob Meej stood up from the ghosts, or zombies and took the other two soldiers away. Also, my Miao friend from China thought it was done good too, but he felt some improvements can make this series a bit better as it goes on. Good luck!

Was just browsing youtube and landed on this video. As someone who loves to watch films, I clicked play and watched it with subtitles. The cinematography and special effects were nicely done. The fight scenes left a lot to be desired. That was just painful to watch. The fight scene and some of the acting didn't seem natural. Then again, they're not professionals, so it's expected. I'm sure they'll improve with more experience over time. The story seems to be set in ancient times, so I think it would of been better if the actor's hair matched that time period. The princess, when she was crying, should of at least had more tears. I only seen one streak of tears coming down her face at the very end. Tears would of helped portray her emotions even more. Anyhow, this was just my observation. With the limited crowd sourced budget, I think you and the cast did the best you could with it. Good luck with your future episodes!

They are doing a very nice job overall, the fighting scene could need a little work then it is good. mostly hmong movie in the US are Cringy and all these stuff but not this one. I actually watch the whole episode! I know people say the acting is bad but how would you feel if you have to act? you will be nervous and shy, plus you have to speak hmong language so yeah give them a break it is not easy to act people. Hey, I hope that you have time to read my comment as I am expressing my opinions about this pilot episode and that you would take my words to consideration in the future. A short intro about myself, I am a girl who has been in drama class before and I still watch hmong movies up till this day. Comparing to the hmong movies that were made elsewhere (ex. Thailand), this pilot episode was good overall because of the cinematography, cgis with the props which I liked very much. Also, the directing was good too however, the part that lacks pretty much throughout the whole episode was the acting. I mean it is good in some parts but, mostly it's still not there. You mentioned in some other of your videos that you want Hollywood to see your work and make our people be recognized through this pilot episode, which would be fantastic and good but, Hollywood's standards of film is high so it would take alot of time to meet their standards at the same time for our people to be recognized. Of course, our hmong community has risen in other fields but, in the film field though, even if the profession in technology has improved, the one thing that would most likely needed more improvement is the acting. In every hmong films that I see that hasn't improve much was the acting. So, if you wanted to seek opportunity for mostly you to be recognized by Hollywood, I would've waited because there are still time and, we can be recognized anytime. For me personally, I would've waited until hmong people can master the most lacking thing shown in hmong films then, I would debut a big budget film like this. Additionally, I want point out that Hmong Americans are still struggling with their mother tongues or just don't know it at all which will also take some time there. In conclusion, I appreciate of how you filmed this pilot episode with your team but do keep in mind that there are many things that hmong in general lacks while filming and, I want you to continue doing what you do for more improvement of your directing in the future than now. That is all I want to say. I hope it makes sense because my writing is a little messy.

Darn.... I mean it’s been a year.... and they still haven’t had enough funding? That’s so sad. I would loveeee for them to have more episodes.

16:9 full screen really? This would have been better in a 2:39:1 cinematic aspect ratio. Lots of static shots, really? Hmmm, what else should I complain about? When you are an unknown director and you come out of the woods and say you are going to make the best-est Hmong movie ever, you need to deliver that bold claim. This is by far a disappointment after all the Lord of the Rings hype behind it and $60K+ of budget. I highly doubt we will see anything beyond this 21 minute short...mark my words. Who graded this movie? Was color grading done in a flash? There's no theme to it. You don't need a RED to make this movie, a Sony A6300 will do. C+ for effort.

I’m looking forward to the story line of this drama, but it didn’t make sense during the fight scene when Yujin was having flashbacks and talking to his fellow soldiers. Like, I see all them monsters behind Yujin just walking around. Shouldn’t they be attacking him? And shouldn’t they be going after the other soldiers? Also, when Yujin was laying on the ground, why didn’t the monsters swarm around him to eat him like how they were swarming around koob meej? If it’s a dream, I guess that’s reasonable cuz dreams be weirdddd. But that last clip of the girl waking up was a great cliff hanger for the next episode!

I always want to see such a wonderful movie, but every time I worry that the actors and producers have no money. Thanks to every actor, to the director, to the props, to those who still have dreams about Hmong movies, you gave us A lot of fantasy stories, respect!

RED camera making a huge difference here. Nicely Done. Have your actors and actresses take things more seriously and this series will turn out just fine.

Just curious but why are the soldiers/royal guards armed with Roman Gladius’s? Seeing as Hmong knives are kinda like Thai daab, wouldn’t it make sense for the swords to mimic Thai/Lao or Chinese swords?

Overall not bad. The picture was great. The scenes with the King were too dark. Can’t a King afford more lighting in his castle? The sound effects for their foot prints and so forth were off and the acting...lets just say we’ve seen better Hmong actors. Overall it is not horribly bad. Could I make a better movie? Definitely not!! So kudos to all the hard work. It definately showed through.

I just watch this and it seems like alot of minor stuff needs improvement. The biggest one that kind of bug me is the action or fighting scene with the zombies. I feel the whole scene was too fake. The zombies arent even scary and look so weak same as the actors. They re just standing around and not even fighting. Ya should of got them brothers from that stunt unleashed 360 team for that scene. Just my 2 cents.
