Spiritual AND Religious: Mystics Anonymous Anyone?

Father Bill continues a deep dive exploring the place of religion within 12-Step recovery. Worldwide, and within 12-Step Fellowships, membership in religious bodies continues a steady decline, while the hunger for spiritual connection seems to grow steadily. This episode continues to ask what religions may have to contribute to our spiritual growth and why it’s often so difficult to join the worlds of recovery and religion. Fr. Bill asks if most addicts may just be misplaced mystics!

I enjoy your insights and the guests you have had in this series. (And others). Your genuine desire to be helpful in bringing your listeners to the One who has all powerful, or the SOLUTION seeps through all your words. Then you add the gentle voice and I find myself rewinding and replaying because you speak of the roots to the building blocks of A.A. I’ve been told , “when you know better, you do better”. I had to quit listening when you began to suggest that all religions are equal.For someone who presents themselves as an intellectual there has to be a lot of mushy wishful thinking to overlook the contradictions in different faiths. I choose to stand on the side of the Christian faith, where AA came from.
