Me too. Got the book by Lehodey. Very helpful to listen to this and also read book. I find that I need to listen to Father Ripperger lessons over and over for a few days to absorb slowly so I can retain information. It’s like a season of time to learn one thing before I move onto another. I find myself spiritually hungry but I feel I need to slow down a bit. Like a fine dining experience. It’s helpful

I never understood why people just want to stop at not doing mortal sins and forego sanctity. I mean, staying out of mortal sin is really hard and on its own it is more a torture than anything else. It only gets easier and in fact joyful as you advance in the spiritual life. If you think about it, it's insane and painful to just stick to the periphery of spiritual life and not go any further.

@doge fm So in my experience, the life of virtue is hard at first because your passions are not in check..it seems like you'll never gain control, but a lot of prayer helps out so much in giving you the strength you need. After that, you actually start acquiring a desire and love of virtue, so that practicing it becomes a form of fulfillment. You start seeing the fruits of your work and they give the soul great joy. There are other forms of difficulties later on in the spiritual life, like the dark nights that St. John of the Cross speaks of, but these are not about the difficulty of self-control but rather the difficulty of being a little creature that God can give or withold anything from. These are painful trials but people that are in them are often quite radiant and find a special sort of joy that only real commitment to God can give. To be honest, I think that the more you walk the road to sanctity, the more you love it and the more you love God, even if it can really hurt and test you to your limits. That is the beauty of it, that your love begins to surpass your horror of suffering and that's when deep down you know that no matter what God has in store for you, you will be faithful to Him. That's how I feel about it now in my heart, and it's really an incredible place to be, though I have much road left to travel. In the end, that is what makes sanctity increasingly "easier", the fire that gets ignited in your heart and that will not rest until it is resting in God.
