I’ve not read all 174 comments, so if I’m repeating someone else, that’s why. When the rabbi spoke of the men coming back from the land and saying they saw them selves as grasshoppers, I thought of the scripture that says “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he”. Shalom, Rabbi Daniel! I am a born again Christian listening from Honduras, Central America. I am HOOKED on your teachings and have been listening to hours upon hours of your speeches and lectures. I am currently waiting for delivery of Thou Shall Prosper and will be buying Business Principles from the Bible soon. Your teachings on viewing work as it really is, which is serving God’s children, has been transformative in me. I am EASILY getting out of bed 2 hours early now and eager to find opportunities to serve. I’m on my path to getting out of massive debt and God’s wisdom through your teachings have me knowing that I will be financially free at least 4 years earlier than originally planned. Thank you Rabbi!

Some people say it's better to burn all the bridges behind and force yourself on 'hunter mode' to succeed. But I don't subscribe to that thought, unless someone works in casino, as astrologer or prostitute (just like you said in one of the previous post on your page). So my two cents are that you *don't ever quit before you find something better.* If you're dissatisfied at your current job then actively search for something better suited for you, but in the meantime keep working what you do. My main point is: *you always need to work and SERVE your fellow humans, that's honorable and right thing to do, no matter of your balance sheet.* Never retire in the literal sense, also something you too like to emphasize. :)

@@rabbidaniellapin., It is great to hear from you! We, the USA, were 99.9% Christian and .1% Jewish in 1776, when we founded the U.S. (our family signed the Declaration of Independence and have birth to Abraham Lincoln:) As result, the Ten Commandments, and the Bible in general, had the final say in American popular opinion and politics. All of the orginal 13 States had mandatory professions of faith in their constitutions per dating the U.S. In order to hold office you had to profess faith in the Bible and often the state donation of your state. The first Amendment was about not forcing the US to choose a denomination. The Bible was always held in the highest regard, which means Isarel as being the author's chosen people to save us. The Bible being written by God and having Israel being God's chosen people makes Israel a top priority in our hearts and minds. I still remember when the main debate, the classic American debate was over Biblical doctrines. Just 20 years ago, that seemed to be still the main debate. I think politicians like President Truman and Trunp both have sinsere faith and we elect people who have faith and "faith comes from hearing the message (the word of God)." Romans 10:16. Your teaching on the generations that led to the flood is a real eye opener for me to understand why the country we love is in serious decline. However, I am faithful God will take care of US!:) Thank you again Rabbi! Truly, Wesley

Rabbi, Thank you again! I've leaned so much from you from the Bible! Hey, I know I am at fault for my mistakes, and this podcast made me think of Joesph from Genesis. What are your teachings on Joseph? He seems innocent to me for his slavery and all that jail time he did etc. How do you teach on his life? As a Christian teacher I quote Rimans 8:28 which states God works all things together for the good of those who love him. " God doesn't say that all things are good but can be worked together for the good. Some things are terrible but God can make it work for your good. I'm sincerely interested.

I agree about personal responsibility to a point. There are those who have had such extreme abuse (and yes, it does mean something), that they have virtually no foundation upon which to build. Children do get pimped out, chained in the basement, beaten daily, starved, and left with no outside contact. They don’t develop any basic care skills, self-care skills, social skills, speech skills, and they’d have no idea that you can have someone else do anything for you or care in any way at all. And to tell them to “take responsibility for your part it” is beyond wrong, and it’s cruel. Not to mention those who add the cult aspect with homicidal parents. It’s definitely wrong to tell them they had ANY role in their situation, and that somehow they should just suck it up and pull themselves up by their bootstraps when they’re standing there naked and cold, and have no boots. This vid starts with a premise that there were at least some basic care needs met and that someone, somewhere did something caring in that persons whole like. That’s not always true. And sometimes if there was a kind word, it was in passing, once or twice in an entire childhood. Without any positive input, they have nothing upon which to draw. You can always clear viruses out of your computer, but you’d be a fool to think it can run without any software...or with extremely corrupted software. This isn’t about condescending, hateful parents, drunk and embarrassing or even occasionally violent parents, not being allowed sleepovers, but sadistic, methodical, ceaseless violent abuse and neglect. Compassion and acknowledgment of the lack of enough foundation upon which to build, that’s what has to happen first, then experiences of care, that MUST come from others (the sick and twisted treatment of babies in the “failure to thrive” study is just one tiny example. Without any love and nurturing, babies die. And people do as well. People can’t build their castle in the air. And when they’re buried that far down in a pit, someone else has to reach down for them. Even Joseph’s brothers pulled him from the pit...sure, they sold him and THEN he made the best of it, but he wasn’t getting out of there alone. As a bonus for him, he’d had a father who loved him, a connection to God, and at least a skill he knew he had, which was eventually recognized. But the pit alone...his bones would still be there if it weren’t for his brothers reversing their decision and pulling him out. Whether it was they or someone else, someone besides Joseph had to do it. The worse people are the ones that say they “can’t imagine” parents could be that way. So, great, it’s true, they have no imagination...but it still happens. Right now there are caged children, children in pits underground, babies, toddlers, children, teens and even adults who are held as sex slaves. They have no one to rescue them. They can’t use their imagination to get out. They’re fully overpowered. There is such a thing as abuse and it’s definitely not to be dismissed...but to be compassionately addressed. One must have at least a bare minimum, a seed doesn’t grow without any soil, water or sunlight, and it’s cruel to imply it should. Some adversity is one thing, co start crushing is another. And it does happen. How much of it WILL determine the ability to grow, or not. Easy enough to say when one has had a little soil, water, and light, and at least some protection from being crushed or plucked out of the soil...

Bower birds have creativity. They customize their bowers when they build them, and decorate it with their own color scheme. They “steal” little toys and small items that humans leave around, and position them along the pathway to their bower, and up to it. They use plants and berries to decorate and smash them to stain the walls a color or colors, and they stay with that color or a set of complementary colors in the plants and items they find to decorate their pathway and bower, and have their little dance to show it off to the females, to entice them to come live in their bower. They can range from using more neutrals to vivid colors, though most seem to use at least a little color. We do have the most creativity, but there are definitely some amazing creative animals out there, who consciously choose according to their own personalities...humans are supposed to be talking to all of creation, it’s sad that most ignore it their whole lives. We were given dominion over it all, and dominion usually involves some sort of communication. All of creation speaks, (Psalm 19, among other passages). Everything else has an opinion about the humans that crash into their world, plenty of studies about that. Someday, humans are going to feel silly that they went for millennia with relatively very, very few ever talking to plants and animals. Jesus (who was also a rabbi) talked to even the elements. When the Bible says to spread the Gospel to all creatures....personally, I think it means just that. We have no clue just how much impact we have on everything around us, and how other living things communicate amongst themselves and to us on levels we (most) don’t even consider, much less understand. As the good rabbi here was saying, God breathed his breath into humans, and he gave humans the only conscious speech (hand signing and body language with primates and dolphins isn’t verbal, and parrots...parrot. It isn’t a conscious active choice of its own thoughts). He gave us his very breath. The Bible repeatedly warns us to set a watch over what we SAY--for we are using God’s very breath to say it, so that’s another reason not to curse things, especially using his name. It’s an insult to him to use HIS breath to say he is damning something, especially when he calls it blessed. (It is also why poverty is a curse and prosperity is a blessing, because God said so...some silly Christians have it all wrong. Prosperity teaching is biblical, and only nutty Christians and jealous secular people call it “greed”. God blesses his most faithful with extreme excess. So, jealous people, take it up with God if you want to reject his blessings . There is genuine greed, but blessings from God are just that. He’s the God of abundance. Also, because it says “you shall have what you SAY (repeatedly, not one time you speak something contrary to what you have been saying forever). The old and New Testament both warn of it a lot, and say to not say anything yo u do not want to occur. After alllll God did to wipe Egypt out for making them slaves for 400 years, destroying their food, water, fields, cattle, first born sons, their wealth (all gold given to them), and finally, for the pièce de resistance, he drowns the entire military in the sea (and yes, the underwater land bridge has been found, it drops off 1,000’ on either side, and has chariot wheels of that pharaoh’s dynasty, axles, horse hooves and coral covered rib cages, it definitely occurred, there are even 2 obelisks flanking the Red Sea, one has fallen in the water and was less clear, the other on the Saudi side was set further from the water’s edge and both tell the story...), after all that glorious display of total support, and amazing revenge...they had the audacity to...complain. Spying out the promised land, with all its abundance, a matter of giants should have seemed doable since God had just showed his full support and faithfulness...and God called the part about the giants an “evil report”. Any time we look at the bad thing going on and not the gold in the rubble, the opportunity, the gift from God in all things, he calls that an “evil report”. We are to hand him the trouble, cast ALL our cares on him, and not be the 2-year old that snatches the broken toy from daddy’s hand before he fixes it. Let God fix it...so, they focused on the evil report. Only Joshua and Caleb said “let’s go take the land, for we are well able”...everyone else whined, had no faith, and most importantly, used their God-given breath to SAY that they’d die in the wilderness. So, they did. They said God brought them there to die. They used his breath out of their mouths to curse themselves. A very, very important passage in the Bible is: “**The power of life and death are in the tongue”.*** (And I’d add a notation: “Selah”...). And they got what they proclaimed...death in the wilderness, until the old generation died off (40 years), and the new generation could progress . (The media has been giving people a spirit of fear, and they seem willing to receive it, even make up their best guest room for this spirit, plus spirits of helplessness, uncertainty, doubt, confusion, etc. I wasn’t given those spirits, (New Testament) and I will not receive them. I won’t allow them over my threshold. But God drew me away from the news over 13 years ago...then TV, movies and radio. The point is, every word we speak is using the breath of God himself. And that’s why it’s such a sin, a crime, to misuse this incredible gift of speech and creation. We are told “speak what is not as though it were”. When the woman’s son died, she still said “it will be well”, and told no one what happened. She went and got Elisha. He asked after her family. She said “it is well”. And she took him back with her. He knew what was going on, he was a prophet. But he also charged his servant to speak to no one. Of course, the child was brought back to life. It was crucial that no one was involved that might speak amiss, and no one proclaimed him dead, even though he was. We see Jesus follow this same principle, and keep out anyone who would not have faith or might speak defeat. When we want something positive, we are to speak what is not (either something is wrong, or we don’t physically have the thing yet) as though it were. We ignore the “evil report”, anything that would be considered bad, an illness, a lost job, whatever it is, we do not repeat the evil report. We focus on what can be and whatever positive is in it (“I have time to find a great job”, vs. “I lost my job”). Sorta the same thing, but you’re speaking a positive. “I have time to get a great job! God is opening an exciting new door for me. I can’t wait to see what God does next!” THAT’S what will work for you. Speak what is not (yet), and though it were (already yours). You’re well. Thank God that Jesus already paid for your healing, say thanks all day that God says he brings health and a cure (and it’s ok and wise to use medical treatment until you see the healing physically...some people get it immediately, others take time, sometimes a long time...). It has been (last tense is key here) difficult to get this through some very thick heads. They watch news 24/7, let the news, the teleprompter readers puke alll over them, then they swallow it, take it into themselves willingly, consume it, (you are what you consume), this is all done voluntary, even eagerly, then they try to turn around and regurgitate it all over everyone else. Nope. I’m not having it. I won’t even get near anyone who watches the news. They have a spiritual stench about them. Like Rabbi Lapin’s analogy of a negative person vs cigarette smoke, I’d rather be around someone who hasn’t bathed for a year vs. someone who watches the news. They spiritually make one wretch. Speech is soooo critical. So critical. Every word is critical. Every single one. You’re using God’s very breath to create with every word you say. That’s why the media wants the world proclaiming the success of illness, the defeat of humanity, and the success of every evil intention, they NEED people to proclaim it to achieve it. Stop. Saying. It. Stop it. God created everything with his speech. He gave us all that gift. We can proclaim the defeat of oppression, the defeat of anything negative and proclaim a restoration of all that is good and right in the world. What are you creating?

Looking forward to hearing of your business success in Mauritius. Best wishes~ Rabbi Daniel Lapin

Hi Rabbi Lapin, I was wondering if you could perhaps do a show on the detrimental effects of blurred gender roles, the propaganda of the new woman (not in need of a man). Also, the effects this has on society structure. A scientist Sam Vaknin has spoken a bit on this crisis from a emotional and psychological point of view. Seems like many people are afraid of this matter, but the ones who possess common sense have studied the effects deeper. I would love to hear your thoughts on this epidemic.
