★☆★WHO'S THE HOST?★☆★
Curtis Childs is the digital media producer at the Swedenborg Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to spread eighteenth-century philosopher Emanuel Swedenborg’s timeless message of hope to all. While obtaining his degree in communication studies from Oakland University, Curtis experienced an internal battle with depression that led him to question God, existence, and his lifelong interest in Swedenborgian theology. After a period of intense suffering, he recovered from his depression with the help of modern medicine, therapy, and a return to the spiritually uplifting messages he found in Swedenborg’s writings. Now, Curtis is applying his education and desire to help others find peace through Swedenborg’s insights by producing and hosting a weekly webcast called Swedenborg and Life on the offTheLeftEye KZbin channel. Each week, Curtis and his behind-the-scenes team pour their talents and passions into creating a show that focuses on spiritual and societal topics such as the afterlife, angels and spirits, near-death experiences, faith, and more.

My greatest battle for me right now is heaven trying to get me to disassociate myself from the good and bad thoughts that I hear and affirm that I can choose which ones I want to live by. I'm starting to be able to recognize the distorted thoughts that I thought were my personality are actually evil spirits. And to my dismay, I actually find them amusing and sometimes enjoy them. But now that I know their source, the Lord is helping me to recognize the harm they cause me and others. Pray for me during the struggle. God Bless.

The analogy of the immune system to our own spiritual struggles, how even the "bad" can be and is used for "good" is genius and something I'll be able to share with others logically for the rest of my life. Curtis and team, as always, great job! Peace. JBC

This has helped me so much in the battles I am having with all the different emotions in a period of grief. We often feel continuously guilty and full of 'If only's' during grief. I can see how one could combat that with truth from Scripture.

Hi Carina, I'm so sorry to hear you are grieving and dealing with guilt and shame on top of it. Those questions can be so torturous. Sometimes it's enough to know we did our best, and all we can do is learn from the experiences and move forward more capably from the wisdom we've gained. You are so loved - if there is someone in the other world, I believe they are still alive - and they know your feelings, and your love for them. I suspect that they hold no ill will towards you. Here are a couple of episodes that could be helpful: "Evil Spirits Guilt Trip Us Using Our Past," kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGSQnGiIm9Smaac and a shorter one about a very healing reunion: "Family Reunion in the Afterlife" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZO9qauHgNuofrc Sending love to you!

"If God did not allow those inner drives to be expressed in open conflict and warfare, we would never see the great destructiveness of the desires we nurse inside ourselves. And if we never saw them, we could never fight against them and overcome them. They would continue to fester within us until eventually they could no longer be contained, at which point they would break out into even greater devastation. In short, God allows conflict and war because if we refuse to see and overcome the evil desires within ourselves it is the only way for us to see them so that we can fight against them. It is precisely to end war that God allows war."

What you're saying makes sense, Luke. Yes. This is quite a topic, isn't it? What appears on the surface as an atrocity is permitted for the sake of the greater good, though that good may not show itself for a long time, if ever.

Everything you say is such a relief! I'm so glad I found your group! Swedenborg was spirituality advanced, he may have had a kundalini experience to awaken his 2nd sight. I have had such an experience and am able to see spirits use bodies involuntarily to get either fear into you or good ones that build security. Yes the whole life is like one big test. To see if you react negatively or with strong uncontrollable emotional reactions. I've seen this first hand and thought I was losing it! Much of this world is organized and set up very left brained which sets the mind up to either be overly logical or deceived as our intuition is shut down. There's so many unspoken rules in the programming of the human mind in civilization, plus the influences of this artificial world has taken us away from our own higher Self and inner knowing. It's also true that you start shaking inwardly and end up with super high ringing in the ears which has been found out to be dimensional jumping. Or visiting as Swedenborg calls it the various heavens. So be aware that opening the 3rd eye allows you to discern these brings entering others as familiar spirits to either provoke or to heal past wounds. He's entirely correct this is in fact happening. If you know the person you can see the change in them and they speak to you as though they can read your thoughts, know things only you know about. They can trick you if you have never met the person and don't know their personality. They seem to be attracted to those on the high spiritual path, but need purification from perhaps a very trying childhood. Once made stronger through purification then you are able to resist much of the evil trials.

A wonderful presentation concerning what we all deal with every day of our lives. One moment we feel depressed at how bad we are. The next moment we might feel that we really are good people after all. Then we feel guilty for even imagining that we're good. The happy people are those who are so busy helping others that they don't have time to dwell too much on themselves. Swedenborg gives us useful tools of thinking to help us keep more balanced. I like you're quote from Swedenborg about how the good Angels and bad spirits can't dwell together in the same heart. Somebody has to go. You can find this idea in all religions because it's the same struggle no matter when or where you're born. I found this quote from Baha'u'llah which seems to be saying this: O MY FRIEND IN WORD! Ponder awhile. Hast thou ever heard that friend and foe should abide in one heart? Cast out then the stranger, that the Friend may enter His home.
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 7 жыл бұрын
I love that passage from Baha'u'llah; thanks so much for consistently sharing your faith with us! Your comments remind me of this passage from Swedenborg: "for the Lord's church is universal, since it exists with all who are in the good of life, and who from their doctrine look to heaven, and thereby conjoin themselves to the Lord."
@harlanlang6556
@harlanlang6556 7 жыл бұрын
Once again, Swedenborg hit the nail on the head! Another way of putting it is to say that religion is one. There's one reality and one Source we call God. Just as we don't think of "my science" and "your science", but just science, so maybe it would be closer to reality to think of religion as one body of knowledge we're all striving to put our minds around, which we need to see as forever beyond our capacity. But we keep trying because that's who we are. If I looked at Swedenborg's ideas and discoveries without knowing his religion, I would guess that he was probably a Baha'i. They fit so much more closely with Baha'i thought than with any Christian thought I've been around. Many Christians seem to think that Swedenborg is challenging their basic beliefs, whereas a Baha'i would see them as explicitly Baha'i with perhaps an expansion of Baha'u'llah's statements concerning the heavenly and spiritual worlds. I've been a Baha'i for over 50 years and I've never encountered a person like Swedenborg before. I find him amazing and wonderful. I've been reading Heaven and Hell and especially like the way he describes the difference between the minds of those who believe in God and those who don't and how they appear in the next world. "The human mind is like soil whose quality depends on the way it is tilled." (P. 560)

Wow .. correspondence again for me! I just went through this several days ago. Yesterday I was feeling sad and just about cried all day because it was my mom's 2nd yr memorial and we haven't yet been able to scatter my mom's ashes. Due to Covid-19 and and the restrictions we were all under to quarantine etc. Two days prior I felt literally attacked and started to swear. I stopped and said God I'm not letting go of you! If I wrestle like Jacob with the angel because there is something in me I need to purge. I relent into your hands. At your feet I humbly ask with the tears that fall, wash me clean of it! And immediately kept reciting the 1st verse of the 46th Psalms until the attack I felt left me. I also started to talk to my mom and said. Mom I want you to know how hard it was to care for you and watch you on a daily basis deteriorate. That it was hard when you fought me when I cared for you. That it broke my heart to see you suffer. After that I was mentally and physically exhausted. And realized though I wasn't angry or resentful at her. It was what was keeping me feeling stuck. I was still carrying around the stones of hurt and brokenness I felt after she passed. This was so timely for me to watch this show... Thank you without end, love and blessings.😇🙏🌺

Wonderful video, powerful ideas! As I understand it, God is and always will be loving, just and merciful to everyone without exception. This does not mean that a person can do evil without consequences, we will each reap what we sow. Good behavior results in blessings and evil behavior results in curses. God’s loving, just, merciful attitude toward everyone at all times means that He will always provide a way for us to repent and return to Him, do good and be blessed if we want to. Is this how you see it?

I’d like to share a personal experience that may help others. Years ago I was suffering from panic attacks. One day I was at a small bus station when one of those attacks happened. I felt as if I were dying, and to make things worse, there weren’t any restrooms around and I felt my bowels were about to move. Not only I feared I was dying, but it would happen in a very humiliating way. I sat down at the curb and started praying. I decided that whatever God wished for me was okay. I told him I accepted His will, and if it was the moment for me to die, I accepted it. And if it had to happen in a bout of diarrhea, I accepted that as well. But I felt a surge of something that I call “positive anger” against the possible will of spirits or any beings that might be affecting me. It wasn’t what we usually call anger, but the kind of anger that makes you shove away something that is trying to do you harm. I was praying in thought, and I said in my thoughts, “Please, Lord, Thy will be done, but not the will of anyone or anything else, not even mine”. Suddenly, I was perfectly healthy, and that was it. It happened in a split second. I didn’t know about Swedenborg then. I knew, after that, that accepting God’s will had been what I needed to do, but now, after watching a lot of your videos, I understand what was going on at that moment. I hope this account can help someone who needs it.

Great to hear from you Gabriel! I'm so glad this episode resonated with you. To clarify, God is 100% good, being divine love and wisdom in pure form. It is us, as humans, that experience the inflow of both good and bad, or heavenly and hellish, thoughts and desires. Here in the natural world, God keeps a balance between heaven and hell's influence on us so that we can, in freedom, choose how we want to live. I hope that helps clarify some of Swedenborg's concepts for you! As always, you rock!

Hi Curtis and Johnathan, Swedenborg made a useful observation regarding this subject. He stated, 'A good and useful servant looks upward and inward, whereas a selfish and worldly spirit looks outwards and downwards.' (I paraphrase.) Swedenborg also said that the neighbor is not the person next door necessarily. The neighbor, for a angel trainee, is another angel trainee. If you aid and abet the people next door even though they are known to be selfish or dishonest, not only are they not actually your neighbor, but you will be culpable for aiding and abetting evil. For me, spiritual battles have continuously intensified as I grow in Yeshua. It has been a series of encounters with ever more subtle evil forces. Just when I am starting to get closer to my aspirations, a larger more strange enemy or enemies has to be confronted. I have found that my 'infestations' are often proceeded with glass breaking, just as beloved Emmanuel spoke of. They would first break a cup or dish years ago, now they will break a solar panel! Swedenborg got to the point where he actually enjoyed infestations even though they were often very severe and physically painful. I find it helpful to bear in mind that heaven and hell are both governed by the Lord. Regarding the question that Jim asked: Many years ago, in a remote lake in Northern Ontario, I saw the faces of living Indians in the water of the lake. The faces were as if living people, looking up from a meter below the surface. The faces were moving, and looking at me. On one side of the canoe, the faces were bathed in warm sunlight, and they were bright, smiling and cheerful colored various hues of yellow, orange and red, and on the other side of the boat, the faces were forbidding, sombre and stern coloured in blues, greens and violet shades. Ten years later, on the edge of the Glasshouse Mountains in Queensland, Australia, I saw the same living, bright and colourful faces of Aboriginal people shining out of a pinnacle of solid rock. Tolkien writes about the faces in the dead marshes looking up from the swamp water. The Hopis said that their spirits retreated to the underworld, and the Aboriginals insist that their spirits are in the land and stones. Incidentally, the Hopi's said that when their spirits re-emerged from the ground, they would be called 'something like 'Hopi's.'

Yes, you make a very important point, that our neighbor is the goodness in a person, not their dysfunctions, and we have to be aware of what we're supporting. We discuss this in a couple of past shows: "How to Love" kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2LZfaV8YqeYfbs and "3 Simple Ways to Love Everyone" kzbin.info/www/bejne/pp2apGuhnrGlnqc I do believe the battles get more intense the more you advance on the journey, because the issues become deeper. It's great that you can recognize this as progress rather than regression! And wow, what fascinating visions you describe. Amazing. There sure is a lot going on, on so many levels, that we don't normally see! Thank you, Ken.

this explains so much, i have known people that treated me so badly and they enjoyed doing so and i never understood why, i never could hurt another person, like they do, and now i see they are bent for evil. i could never harm a child all i want to do is gently hold and love children, but there are people that can do such wickedness to innocent little ones, they are only on their way to hell.

Renee, I am so sorry that others have treated you so badly, particularly if they may have taken enjoyment in the act as well. I'm honored that our video was able to help you understand some key spiritual principles regarding motivation and affection. We all have heavenly and hellish thoughts/desires flowing in, and it's up to us to shun or delight in those things. Those who take great delight in causing other's pain certainly align nicely with the ideals that the hells are promoting. The opposite goes for heaven. Keep nourishing your gentle, protective spirit of children. There are angels in heaven who also share that love of protecting innocence!

@offTheLeftEye. Remember how when in the Bible GOD said Able's blood cried out from the ground? I sometimes wonder does the blood of the innocent babies that are killed in abortion, does their blood cry out from the ground also? Does the children that are raped that have no one to protect them do their tears, stand before our LORD? I weep before our LORD for mercy for these little ones. Come soon to stop this insanity.

Love for the Lord will dis-spell any feelings of despair. Swedenborg boils everything down to 2 (resp. 4) components, but I would like a little more specific pointers. A sword = Judgement/discernment. (As in the divider between what is Truth and what is not)

Finally, here are just a couple of weird thoughts about the comparison of spiritual warfare to the immune system. !) When we are infants a lot of our antibodies are actually our mothers' antibodies that we get through breast milk (and maybe in the womb we get them directly through the blood? Not sure about that). That kind of seems like some of the help we get from the so called "historical faith" we have from our churches and spiritual traditions before we have really started on our own conscious spiritual journey. Secondly, it made me think about what spiritual processes might be similar to autoimmune diseases where our antibodies attack ourselves. Condemning ourselves as hopeless for our evil thoughts instead of just saying "here's an area to work on" , perhaps? Just tossing around ideas. Thanks for this program. Great to have a place to go for Swedenborgian interaction in a country where he is completely unknown.

Anika Adekayode annaseyo! ...check the message they posted in the comments towards the top - re: that they're taking the next few weeks off from their live stream...but looks like they're normally on Mondays, 8PM EST..[which would change twice a year re: some of the other time zones around the world because we still use that daylight savings time schedule in the States..a website i like to visit to check the time in other parts of the world 🌍 is: www.timeanddate.com ]. i haven't caught theirs yet, myself...but how live streams work here: if you subscribe to a channel, a thumbnail for a live stream, ideally, it shows up in your subscription feed.. a live video is often started within a few minutes of the start of the actual streaming and, currently, is indicated by a red rectangle that says, "LIVE" in the bottom right corner of the video thumbnail image.. *but* i say, *"ideally"* because if you have a lot of subscriptions it can get lost in the shuffle..you would then just have to check for it and/or remember the times of your favorite streams..if you don't see it in your feed *around* those times that it would normally be starting, alternatively, you can look for a notice in your g-mail box (if you're a subscriber to their channel) ..or you can directly look for the live stream towards the top of a channel's home page....(note: occasionally unscrupulous uploaders will add that red image, deliberately, trying to trick potential viewers - no idea why they do it - but i think KZbin is trying to deal with that). if the "LIVE" rectangle is *black* or maybe even *blue* then that usually indicates an *upcoming* live stream and you'll have an opportunity then to set a reminder for yourself (i think you can do that, even if you're *not* a subscriber - because i've seen the rectangles when searching for videos, in general..in any case, you'd just have to click on the the thumbnail to be shown that option). just be aware that KZbin is notorious for the habit of 'fixing things that ain't broke.' so, understand that *that* and other protocols here can change at the drop of a hat. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 and if your internet connection ever drops out or if a stream stops for any other reason: sometimes there are glitches at KZbin's end..which means you may have to wait a few minutes for it to be corrected..but whatever the case, always refresh the page to see if it's working again. hope this helps! 😃

That was a good episode....Yes, it sure has been a battle . I’ve always been aware of the evil and the good, but how it’s fought inside of my inner and outer self, I’m not really aware of. My life here has been one of difficulty. Mainly problems of relating to and getting involved with others, that is , fear of who or what they might be, not wanting to get involved. I’m not saying everyone is bad, oh no, there are a lot of good people here also ( thank God) it’s just that I guess I’m afraid of evil, I don’t like the way it’s inside of me or the way it tries to take me over or trick me or other people. I just don’t believe in it. I think evil is wrong. I just want to be a good person. I think a lot of people want to be good. ❤️😊

It's understandable, Julian, that you might have a defensive stance, wanting to defend yourself from evil. And strong boundaries are good! But I agree with you that a lot of people want to be good. It's tricky to walk the line between trusting people and wanting to keep yourself safe. But you can always work on what's going on with good and evil INSIDE your own mind and heart, looking for ways to shake evil spirits that might have a hold on your thoughts, and invoking angels to use their love and wisdom to overpower the "head bullies!" The fact that you "just want to be a good person" is going to take you very far! Blessings to you!

In a sense, we are mostly prisoners of evil, held hostage against our will. ......I’m thinking if evil has free reign here, why doesn’t it just go after those who want or choose to be evil instead of harassing those people who are working hard to turn their lives around or want to be a better individual?...................An angels protection is always welcomed and loved❤️❤️❤️😊

Julian, I hear you! If only they would leave us alone! But that's not the nature of life on earth - we are constantly facing evil, because it exists in this world and will continue to as long as we don't fight it and make its effect smaller! I think of it as cleaning up polluted air for everyone's sake... unfortunately, we all breathe it in, whether or not we helped create it. We've inherited a bit of a mess! But don't worry! The Lord is here to help you. You are NOT alone. And you are also NOT responsible for any evils you didn't cling to - or love, as Swedenborg says. It's only the ones we really "enjoy" - as an addict enjoys a drug - that we need to conquer. I suspect you've seen this one, but just in case, I like it - "The Purpose of Life's Tests and Struggles" is a great episode, kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYfIq6V9ibdgqKc I also think you might like "How to Make Evil Spirits Retreat and Good Ones Move Closer," kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ2xXpZ8jsumb7s or "How to Free Your Mind from Hell" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGmWY6yhjb-Yj7c Blessings!

Dr Jonathon's solo segment in this video is particularly interesting because Abrahamic scriptures also speak of four guardian angels that appear dualistically and many more that guard us from the from front and back. It would be interesting to compare the human mind from a neurological and psychological perspective when we experience extreme anxiety and compare it with Swedenborg's explanation of how evil spirits use our feelings, memories, tendencies, values, beliefs etc. to create a whirlwind of a tsunami like your metaphor of the stormy sea. In Abrahamic scriptures these angels are mentioned in the following chapters of the Bible that says, "for he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." (Psalm 91:11) and in (Matthew 18:10), (Matthew 26:53), (Matthew 4:11), (Hebrews 1:14), (Revelation 5:11), (Luke 16:22), (Daniel 6:22) and [Hebrews 1:14]. In the Quran it says “For each (person), there are angels in succession, before and behind him. They guard him by the Command of God.” (Quran 13:11) and He sends guardians (angels guarding and writing all of one’s good and bad deeds) over you” (Quran 6:61) and “(Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it).” (Quran 50:17-18) and “But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of humankind) to watch you, Kiraaman (honorable) kaatibeen - writing down (your deeds).” (Quran 82:10-11). In the Judaic Tanakh it says that angels appeared to Moses, Joshua and others. In Genesis 16:9 they appear to Hagar, to Lot in Genesis 19:1, and to Abraham in Genesis 22:11, they ascend and descend Jacob's Ladder in Genesis 28:12 and appear to Jacob again in Genesis 31:11-13. God promises to send one to Moses in Exodus 33:2, and sends one to stand in the way of Balaam in Numbers 22:31. In the Book of Psalms it says "For He Will give His Angels Charge over you, to keep you in all your ways" (Psalms 91:11) and “In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them: in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old" (Isaiah 63:9).

@@offTheLeftEye You're welcome and thank you. I am glad that you find the quotes interesting. I agree that religion is a very vast topic. I like watching horror movies too. I just hope there are enough movies to keep me busy for the rest of my life like religion. However watching them again after a few years is like watching with a fresh perspective. I like horror tv dramas too. They have many episodes I am really looking forward to watching Guillermo del Torro's 'Cabinet of Curiosities' when I run out of movies and start rewatching them. It gives you an idea of my taste in mysterious things like horror and religion. The scriptures tell us that in different levels of heaven religion will keep us busy for eternity to get closer to God. I know that Swedenborg also mentions levels in heaven.

Something that puzzled me in this program was the idea that the very truths that we are supposed to use to "fight" the trials do not console us when we are in the midst of that state. I wonder if anyone has any thoughts about that.
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there seem to be two levels of that, in which, on the one hand, those true ideas are our protection (the plastic sword!), but also, in times of despair, they're not necessarily going to make us feel better in that moment. Meaning, they won't take away the pain right then. So, I think of it more as those truths giving us the intellectual belief that we will get through it, that God is working, that Providence will lead to a good end, etc., even though the moment still feels crappy. The light of the moon rather than the light of the sun. You know, like you can know that a medical procedure is helping, even though you are in pain. The pain is still unpleasant, but you can endure it better knowing that it is really helping, and that you will heal in time. Something like that. What do you think?

I love the show and Curtis is great. I just realized something, Swedenborg claimed God came in the form of Jesus to weaken the power of hell or balance out Heaven and hell. Then what the heck was the 20th century it was horrible how then can you explain the hell of the 20th century? Thank you guys.
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 7 жыл бұрын
Good question! That's where the Last Judgment comes in. But according to Swedenborg, the Last Judgment is actually a spiritual event that happened in 1757. A "judgment" (or spiritual rebalancing, so-to-speak) happens whenever people on the earth get so far from a foundation in and understanding of heavenly love that our salvation (i.e. spiritual freedom) is at risk. Even when God came into the world as Jesus, he knew he would need to come again, in the form of spiritual truth that would make the way for a new understanding. 1757 is the time when this needed to happen. So, according to Swedenborg, we're in a post-Last Judgment world, which doesn't mean that things are magically better, but it does mean that we are living with greater spiritual freedom. The new understanding that is possible now is something that Swedenborg knew would grow only little by little. There is still the work of spiritual reformation that needs to happen individually, but overall, I think we are on an upswing of really understanding what it means to be loving. The 20th century had a lot of hell in it - but I don't think ever before in the world has there been such an upward curve of expanding care for the wellbeing of humanity on the whole. I think we're learning from our experiences collectively in a way we haven't before. More and more people are of one mind about what evil is--genocide, tyranny, oppression (all of which have a root in the abuse of power and lack of care for the neighbor). I see these as signs of the greater spiritual freedom we have and the new understanding of what love really is that is available to us spiritually (still, change is slow). Here is a link to the show we did on the Last Judgment - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5LEpYakqZWUnsU. And if you're not up for a lengthy video, here's the written recap: www.swedenborg.com/recap-the-last-judgment/. Does this help make sense of it? Basically I think there's a delay between the events of the Last Judgment and its outward, noticeable effects on humanity on the whole in the world, so that's why even in the 20th century (and 21st? ;) ) we're still figuring out a lot about what it means to actually love one another. I'd love to hear any thoughts, reflections, or questions you have in response to these ideas!

right before he falls asleep..what is commonly called by some: the hypnogogic state..but from there, theories vary wildly... i see that as: a state of being in metaphysical/spiritual openness..and if it's true that time isn't real, that it's a construct of beliefs, human and maybe otherwise (psychological time)..and if it's also about the movement of one thing or more moving in relationship to at least one other thing (physical time) vs. the idea of every-thing being absolutely still... also, if it's true that our human life experience is only one of many that we have, ultimately existing outside of that thing we call time??...and if 'everything' is truly happening simultaneously..as well if we're multidimensional in our existence as divided aspects of a larger Beingness... then the idea or concept of the Present/The Presence/The Gift of The Nowness or The Power of Now, might, in those moments of 'pre-dreaming,' be inviting us into knowing other aspects ourselves..into the *awareness* of the expansiveness of a larger Life we are *truly* living/experiencing altogether..snippets..glimpses of our expansiveness of Self... musings...contemplations...if nothing else, concepts, anyway, that have been helpful to me..so far... thanks, for the videos! i've had a Swedenborg book on the shelf for years that i pick up and read parts of on occasion. the language of it is definitely from an era of the past..which, of course, makes sense...but i appreciate very much how you disseminate the wisdom. esp., the *practical* applications re: the suggestions and advice you offer..because i do find myself sometimes actually arguing a little with some of Swedenborg's....conclusions??..about some of the things he witnessed..struggling a bit to find the right words because i can't reasonably judge his personal, direct experiences... and between the translations of a very old language (it was Latin??) and the need i seem to have for clear and specific wording (for the sake of my own understanding of my true nature), it's entirely possible that i've misunderstood some of what he was intending to tell to us... i want to have clarity, i very much want to understand what the wisdom teachers are trying to tell us..it feels urgent, my need to know these things..because i do experience that battle inside, which has often been reflected back to me from the 'outside.' ...i want to live my life from a perspective of deep understanding... much appreciation for the mission your team has undertaken in bringing *Swedenborg's* understanding of both the visible and invisible worlds into the 21st century... kindest regards, Roxanne Pacific Northwest, USA.

I once had a woman ask me to pray with her that husband get a revelation of hell and get so scared he returned to Jesus.. I couldn't actually believe my ears. She wanted me to pray fear into his life.. that was when I got the real understanding that it's people learning of God's love because fear will only keep a person somewhere for so long.. but not just that.. how is that in way edifying to either the person or God? That is manipulative behaviour. It's also trying to control another person's personal choices. If that's prayed within the wrong spirit because they have personal issues with someone.. even more damaging, rather than addressing their own issues. If someone does something or says something that affects us directly yes we have a right to say something to them. Yet a lot of people harbour secret resentments while pretending that they don't have them and that does more damage. I found it easier with men than women to be direct and honest for the most part.. I'm not sure why though.. except that I know women can be very spiteful, not that men can't .. some men can. Praying such things into a person's life could be potentially very, very damaging. It also helps to explain why I was having my own issues within that place.. having people pray such things into your life can create anxiety, fear, insecurities, confusion and God only knows what else. This is what I don't like about church. It can feel like I'm not allowed to be honest with people. Having to spend time with people that I may like in small doses but who try and make themselves some kind of authority in my own life. People don't get to choose that position in a person's life. There are positions of authority due to their position, leaders etc but I don't have to agree with them They can't force me to accept what they say. If I don't know who someone really is then why would I commit my life under their authority? It makes no sense to me.. I can respect the role of people like police to a certain degree.. so long as they are actually upholding their positions and being personable.. sure I can be very compliant. Try and control me in some way.. then I'll lose respect very fast because I haven't broken any laws. I do appreciate the fact I was able to ask and get information on what's the legalities on certain sexual activity.. it's important that people know what the legalities are. We are expected though to vote people into positions of power and yet I don't know anything about them.. who are they? What's their background? How where they raised? What have they faced within their own lives? Can they admit to things that they have done in their pasts? The same can be said for spiritual leaders.. people put an awful lot of trust in strangers everyday. It can be very dangerous.. or at the very least naive. People do the same with Dr's and with counsellors all the time. It's just scary how much trust is placed in people without much forethought.. so while it may seem hypocritical of me to say so.. maybe I did what I did with a greater purpose.. people ask how can you give so much away online to strangers.. to show just how much you yourselves do everyday without a second thought.

Weirdest thing ive ever said to another person: during the start of my spiritual regeneration I was presented in my mind’s eye with a pair of hand axes while being introduced to the yogic nagi-nagi (sp?), (Not This, and Not That, I named them 😅) and by the end of the regeneration they had been combined into a staff that I could thump on the floor of my mind rid of evil spirits. “Not this, not that.”

Excellent video, I wanted to ask, please. If we try to be better, try to not to indulge in our addictions, try to react differently, try to "test" spirits in us, try to observe why do we want to react the wrong way as always before and we stop ourselves from doing that and so on, is there any chance that we become more in peace, get more wisdom over time? I mean if we just do our bit and will try to stop ourselves from doing a wrong habits, acting on wrong impulses, thinking of God more, but otherwise we won't do anything more consciously, is there any chance that we will be purified subconsciously over time and then we finally start to experience "heaven" in our mind and change of our behavior and impulses? Will we start to have some amazing thoughts and ideas we never had before? I was always thinking about it. I am going through a purification process already 2.5 years completely alone in a different country, and it is the toughest thing I have ever done in my whole life. I would love to see some results in me finally, or is there any more I have to do to start to see results? I watched already like 350 of your videos, they are great and I really like all of you guys, would love to meet you in London at some point if you come here. You are all so positive and there is great energy coming out of you. Thanks, Tom

What a journey you're on, Tome! Swedenborg asserts that if we "just do our bit" as you describe - changing our thoughts and our actions -- the Lord will work on changing our loves and motivations. He says that if we keep ONE commandment, we are essentially keeping them all. So the incremental work is powerful -- but it's a process. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of "instant gratification," but over time we can see some changes, and both our love and our wisdom will morph and grow. So glad you're finding positive and helpful things in our videos. And Curtis has been to London two summers in a row to speak at a conference -- keep your eye on our channel to see if it might happen again! Blessings to you as you work through this tough phase of your life.

Once in the after life as the state of being an angel can we change our state or do we remain as we are when we enter into the after life? do we still grow that is fight in the after life also. THANKS TEAM YOU ARE AWESOME !
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind affirmation of our team, Jeff! As I understand it, when we first enter the afterlife, we go through a period of education and purification until we are sort of "distilled" into who we really are. Swedenborg wrote that we have so many earthly-level concerns that we can hardly understand the truth of our own spirit in this world. So when those earthly things are lifted away, we get a chance to see why we made all the choices we made, and whether those choices align with who we want to be. This purification process is very thorough, so by the end of it, our heart leads us to our eternal spiritual home. And yet we still go through alternating states ("morning" and "evening" states, for example, when we are feeling closer to or farther away from God's love and wisdom), and we are always learning and growing -- since God is the only thing that is perfect. I haven't thought of it as "still fighting," because it is an honest world there, and things are on the level, and we've all established our desire to live by our core loves. So can you imagine still growing without still fighting? Those are some ideas gleaned from Swedenborg. Sometimes it's a challenge to put them all together, but I trust that God loves us and will help us work it out!

Sounds to me like Jim's 3rd eye is tapping into the astral plane. A layer that is a repository of images/thoughts/feelings of the collective unconscious. Some of the images and activities may be a reflection of current life from anywhere on the globe or from the past. Faces can be from people living today, to past life members of your soul group etc. There are however, various types of non-human entities that exist in the astral plane that often will sort of wear a handy-dandy ready made image. So, if ever an image starts to go wrong, just mentally say dismiss or delete or whatever word works, having the effect of re-adjusting the frequency for a different image. I sort of consider it as late-night mental TV whereby I am the radio receiver randomly picking up the ever-shifting frequencies from our planet. Sometimes the astral plane is used by higher-ordered beings to send through symbols that transmit and resonate specific energies to the deep unconscious of the receiver.

Did Swedenborg make any comments on the future? Or was that not granted? Do angels know everything that happens in time? Maybe my frame of mind is wrong. Just trying to grasp it better.
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Moore -- interesting question! What comes to mind is just his explanation of what the Prophetic books of the Bible and the Book of Revelation were talking about -- the eventual coming of a very bright spiritual era. Some people see those places as talking about when we get to the spiritual world, but some people see it as describing an eventual state on this planet. Other than that, I can't think of places where Swedenborg discusses specific visions of the future. As usual, his focus is on SPIRITUAL realities. *GOD* is omniscient -- knowing EVERYTHING -- in all time and apart from time, regardless of past, present, and future in a "timeline." But for ANGELS, Swedenborg describes their peace and happiness as being a result of NOT thinking about the future or the past, a concept promoted in this world in the idea of staying in "the precious present." It's a challenge to live in this world without at least some thinking about and planning for the future. But I can verify that it does not bring me peace to dwell on wondering and worrying about the future! Have I addressed your question at all? Oh -- it just occurred to me to search our catalog for shows about the future. Here's what I came up with: God Sees the Future as Present: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5u9d35_er6crKc The Future of Religion: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWaqmK2Df7SHga8 The Spiritual Future of the Human Race: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX-TlGSnlKiUaK8 Hope any of this feels like a satisfying response!

Awesome video but I do have one question! So in the list of things we experience during a time of trial, Swedenborg says you experience a lack of any consolation gained from truths. I experienced this very recently myself. However if the way to win these battles is by using the truth, isn't that hard if we don't get any consolation from it? What do you think is the right approach here, do we just kind of spam the right truth until we're totally convinced in it, or conjure up as many truths as we can that would help? Or both? My question basically is, when I am at the point where I get no consolation from the truth, what is the right approach?
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 4 жыл бұрын
Hmm, that's a tricky question, Metamophosis, but I will do my best to respond! Truths are only meaningful if they are illuminated by love. Love is the foundation for everything, and a truth without love is just a point to be argued. We need to love a truth in order to fully understand it, and in order to live by it. So, during a spiritual trial, perhaps you don't feel the consolation because part of the struggle is finding a way to love things. Maybe the result of the struggle is that you have more love and can embrace that particular truth more readily? Or, perhaps the lack of consolation is because part of what a spiritual struggle demands of us is faith. Faith, to me, is in essence, love for the Lord. If we love the Lord, we trust that the Lord loves us, and is leading us. Love and trust go hand in hand in any relationship - if one is missing, then the relationship is vulnerable. Having faith that we will survive the struggle, that it will be worth it, that God has not abandoned us but is in fact struggling through it with us - these are challenging thoughts when things feel hard. Sometimes, though, you fake it til you make it. My advice is, if a truth isn't enough to console you, then don't worry about understanding everything - or feeling peace with what is - instead, focus on believing that you are where you need to be, that you are being led through something hard in order to achieve something greater, and that God is there beside you. So, my thought is, when truth fails to compel or console you, focus your thoughts on love and faith instead. Perhaps something will come to you when you do that. Meditate on those concepts, write a gratitude journal, watch or read something that reminds you of the Lord's presence, and perhaps that love will allow you to see truth better. What do you think? I hope that makes any sense! Jim is shown these people because of his comment: "I do not know the purpose of being shown these people." Clearly you (Jim) already know that you are *shown* these people. That means that you truly believe in the *show-er*, which is the Lord. If you would have thoughts as: "What a strange dream I am having, I am afraid." would clearly show no insight at the inner workings with the Lord and no trust (faith) in the Lords good graces, because of the fear. I am interested to know what is happening on a macro level. Is Hell getting its army together and attacking the actual Heaven from time to time? I know there is the archangel Michael who is a warrior angel. Also Elisha or Elijah had an army of angels protecting them from a physical army that was sent against them. Is there going to be war between Heaven & Hell forever or is it going to stop?

When God manifested on Earth as Jesus, he brought worked to bring balance back to the whole spiritual realm so that hell could not invade heaven. That was one major spiritual "Last Judgment," and then there was another one in 1757 that Swedenborg witnesses. Again, there were major re-orderings and re-balancings going on in the whole spiritual world, reducing the power of hell to affect heaven. The whole book of Revelation is symbolically talking about that 1757 Last Judgment. My understanding is that because of those "Last Judgments" the power of hell has been reined in and reduced, and hell's power will continue to get weaker. Here are some episodes on the topic: "Why Jesus Was Born" kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKTFpquhjb6ViKs "Hell Almost Destroyed Heaven - News From Heaven" kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppaZc6Nmn8qHoas "The Last Judgment" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5LEpYakqZWUnsU

Where was Jesus?! You refer to "the Lord", but never to Jesus. In fact, I didn't see a single mention of Biblical scripture. The difference between Heaven and Hell are that in Heaven, those who, in this life, believed and called on the name of Jesus will be with Him forever in perfect love, peace, and harmony. Hell is a place God created for Satan and his demons and is a place of everlasting torment for those who refused to call on the name of Jesus during their lifetime. That video was 45 minutes void of the Truth.

If you take a look at our channel, we have hundreds of videos that cover a wide range of spiritual topics based on the theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg. Swedenborg was a Christian mystic who wrote extensively about Jesus and how we can live a more informed life of faith and love. His theological writings are based on the bible, and often invite us to see the deeper truths within the literal biblical texts, giving us an opportunity to apply those concepts into our daily lives. For starters, here's a short clip on the nature of Heaven and Hell, according to Swedenborg. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXTMq4KJitxpr9k That being said, I want to warmly welcome you here, and if you feel a desire to explore our programs, I'm here to support you.
