we see everything we look at with all our senses,,and when we have our spirit working on our behavior our minds grow,, our hearts expand,,our very behavior improves as we age truth becomes more real as if the rest was just a test and the test never ends, we all get passing grades,, but some try harder,, others find it easy,,,some wander off into the spaces of this world,,while others walk a straight and narrow path,,,, just living the golden rule keeps me on track,,, not always easy,,but worth the effort as I wandered and wonder,,still to this day,,,knowing" I am" is as close as I am,,

So nice to hear the mention of God and Jesus and repentance instead of Swedenborgs name over and over.

I'm very glad you enjoyed this episode. But remember, this is a channel put on by the Swedenborg Foundation, a non-profit book publisher dedicated to sharing things that Swedenborg learned and reported. We have never claimed it to be a Bible channel or a Christian channel, because there are many different interpretations out there. We have to make it clear that we are presenting interpretations based on the perspective that Swedenborg was shown and taught. That way, people can clearly know where this perspective is coming from, and decide for themselves if they want to keep learning about it.

I agree that repentance is not enough. We need to change our fallen nature. This is a daily battle. Our love for God has to be stronger that the love of our sin
@offTheLeftEye2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Pierre. What amazes me is that when I repent, and stop the bad behavior, God flows in with goodness. It is much like when I ( or my husband) unclog a sluggish drain. God's goodness is perched and ready to flood in. It is our stubborn resistance that makes it hard. One time I was praying for a relationship that I held resentment in, prayer that I could resist trying to change them. The next time we interacted it was startling to me how kindness replaced my judgmental thoughts! God more than met me half way. -Lori

In my opinion, this is the most important video you have produced. Modern day churches seldom preach repentance as the lead action in getting close to God (true Love, the creator of all things). It only makes sense that evil moves you further away from God (Love). How can you be in sync with the pure joy of Love when you are in direct opposition to it (or any varying degree away from it, based on your will)? I had a friend (deceased) who always said we must continually practice righteous, or rather, keep short account (continually) of or sin (evil thoughts). The funny thing is, he never gave Swedenborg a chance, even though he constantly said things that aligned with him. I always say, truth is truth, it doesn't matter who says it, as long as the person has a heart of Love. Thanks for the show.

michael mcmahon very true.The Christian churches I am familiar with teach that the Lord died to save us from our sins...that the cross did all the work...so repentance is not stressed as much as a necessary part of salvation. Repentance isn't just an acknowledgement of our sin, but a desire to change our behavior to actively avoid that sin in the future. Recognizing the sin alone is not enough.
@offTheLeftEye7 жыл бұрын
I really am grateful for your comment, Michael. You seem to really understand the nature of repentance as being the means of moving closer to God. It is funny how some people live by the precepts of Swedenborg's Writings without ever coming into contact with them. What that shows is the Lord's constant stirring in our hearts. This "New Church" is a movement towards humankind's development in faith and love. Thanks again for reaching out, brother.

Sharon Spruell ... To repent is to NOT want to do wrong any more and also to ask forgiveness of those who have been wronged and to make RESTITUTION. It is written in the Bible and is also at the base of the Judicial System (that should act with integrity). If someone has stolen, borrowed or caused another to lose money, job, home, child, etc. intentionally or unintentionally, there must be RESTITUTION. Certain wrongs can be remedied. How many people make RESTITUTION to those they have deprived or defrauded?! How many people truly repent?! Nothing that was unjustly taken from me was ever returned! Who gives back ANYTHING they have taken from another by force or deceit? How many people truly repent?!
@michaelmcmahon92397 жыл бұрын
offTheLeftEye One additional thought, my personal belief is when the Bible says "pray without ceasing", it means to have love in our heart and thoughts continually. The connection to God is through Love, that is how He is omni present, He is Love itself which is in everything created, this is why He is called the creator. If this is true, then a prayer could be defined as simply feeling love in the heart towards others. If you mouth a prayer while angry at someone and say "Lord, please don't let me kill this person", it's doubtful you connected with God. I believe "Love thru freewill, not compulsion" sums up our entire goal while in this material world.

Interesting talk, for me repentance did indeed begin with a single step to denounce one evil.. and i prayed that God reveal my own heart to me that i might know it the better. It has led to this daily inner reflection you mention, a sort of daily inventory and examining of my own will. I will say, this work can reveal things about yourself you do not want to see! But it is a tremendous relief to find these things, and to put them down. As Jesus said "my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"

I’m very moved by the realization that true self examination/understanding of our darkness is needed to have real repentance. It’s not examining our mistakes (past actions) or a blanket “catch all” apology to God, but an awakening to ones incorrect (selfish) motivations, desires.... These videos our gold and an answer to prayer!

Geoff, I'm so glad your prayers have been answered! It's an honor to be able to help you on your journey and get the message out there! Yes, repentance takes some real introspection. It's very hard to solve a problem we haven't really faced head on. We need the full awareness of our actions if we truly want to be rid of them, otherwise we can remain in denial/ignorance and keep on cycling through them! I watched this video again this evening. I like watching SF Offthelefteye videos one-to-three times, and then returning to them again months afterwards, listening again and seeing what I recall. Re-examining oneself is key. I agree and believe this is important and something we should do daily. If we have a conversation with someone, we can later when we are alone with God -- ask ourselves: "What did I learn from that conversation? Did I talk more than I listened? What can I recall from it? Did I assist adequately?" If we are alone in our thoughts and suddenly are disrupted by unpleasant thoughts, instead of just dismissing it, we can at the very least ask God to keep the threat of evil away from us even in our fears, thoughts. If we are talking on the phone and a telemarketer calls -- recognize that we should not be rude just because we can -- there is no justice in that. We can simply say, "I am having dinner right now." or "This number is on the do-not-call list." If we make a vow to ourselves and or our Lord and we do not follow through completely, then we can think about why we did not and simply ask God to help us find the proper path that leads to Him. If we do, think or say anything that is not Heavenly, brotherly, loving, kind, merciful, understanding, knowledgeable -- and if we do not know how to solve it, we can ask God to lead us to people in our lives who will help us with particulars. For me, listening to at least one of the SF videos in the morning while exercising and stretching is therapy that leads to a really good day -- not kidding. Doing this again at night while exercising is another way of winding down a day -- it is healthy for the mind and soul. Before I sleep, I often will think about the discussions on these videos, or I will open one of the Swedenborg books and read. I read until I must sleep. I want to develop my soul and spirituality in a healthy way. I believe these videos are helping me to do this. The discussions are incredibly valuable. I find myself during prayer time thanking God for Emanuel Swedenborg and those researchers and other workers at the SF who provide new ways of communicating information that help us to see the real meaning of our lives.

I swear! I love you guys! I have so been working on patience! I don’t want to be a “giver-upper”. Perfectionism is the highest form of self abuse. I do think I can’t change, and nobody knows that better than God. I know! That justification you’re talking about! God as a person scares me. It makes sense in understanding better, but I pray God is not a person. However, the being good and caring, as people, ourselves, makes it so much easier to comprehend. I just have so many questions. I question who I am so incongruent! My head will not follow my gut, my instinct... my intuition. It’s an obvious struggle now! It almost relieves the anxiety. It gives me something to really pay attn too. How am I feeling physically, inside. It’s like my mind is ...relaxing, and my gut seems to be letting go. It’s physical. It’s the happiness of hope. Both of which I have only manufactured. I hope you stay online. I’m hoping to not only believe, but trust the Truth that Swedenborg realized and shared, that you’re sharing, now. . It just makes sense to me. Thank you.
@offTheLeftEye5 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you are making wonderful progress, lea. You are becoming more aware! Swedenborg learned that if we just try to work on one issue at a time, the Lord is helping us work on all our issues. God does not want perfection, but only some effort that he can then help us with. Were you maybe taught some scary ideas about God early in your life that makes you scared to think of God as a person? If so, just try to think about the most unconditional love or kindness you have ever felt from someone, and know that God is that times a billion. We're so glad to have you here on our channel, and we're planning to stay here a good long time!

I actually made it all the way through the video and it was very helpful, indeed. Thank you for that. I thought because I carry hereditary traits, and some of the things I have done in my life , I haven’t been good and I’ve struggled with a lot of other issues also. I felt hopelessly forgotten. I’ve been hurt by others and I’m sure I have hurt others. It’s been like “do unto others as they have done unto you”. Life is a struggle in that way for me. I’ve basically lost how to relate to others because of fear of being hurt. I really want to be a better person and love others, but life is so difficult for me because of my upbringing and the way some other people can be. . But I do care about Jesus and I did apologize to my mother for making her upset but I haven’t forgiven my landlord for threatening me with an eviction. I need to forgive and let it go. Thanks to Jonathan Rose, and Curtis Childs for explaining these things to those who have great difficultly in their lives.

Jules, I appreciate your openness in sharing with us. It can take a while to navigate through and heal from painful family experiences. And your reflection on the need for forgiveness-- you're onto something there. Forgiveness and repentance are actually very similar processes. You see, when we harbor negative thoughts and feelings from a painful experience, we cultivate an ecosystem that blocks heaven's light (in my own life, it's been feelings of revenge, wrath and judgment). Forgiveness is the process of transforming that pain into something useful to us and to others. And no one is ever without hope, including you. The Lord's love for you is stronger than the darkest pits of hell. The more you let Him in, via working on repentance and forgiveness, the more life change you'll notice. You can do this, my friend.

These discussions are created from energies that originate in Heaven. Curtis, Jonathan and others with the SF are creating a Heaven within themselves being the earthly vehicles for Heaven's goodness and truth to use for the betterment of our spiritual and earthly worlds. For me, it is a journey, and these discussions strengthen my understanding and help me to sort the world around me. Early on in other SF videos the simple explanation of Heaven or God being all those things that represent goodness, truth are love emphasize the reality of why we are here. Hell cannot be part of Heaven simply because they are opposites. Hell is all of those things that are falsity, lies and hate. Both doors are open within us for reasons that revolve around freewill and having the freedom to sculpt our souls. We have this freedom on earth so that there are many ways to express love, goodness and truth. Those things of hell allow us to draw lines and to understand dangers. If we see a pit of snakes, we can create distance from the snakes -- physically, spiritually and mentally. That is a choice. If we are not certain or tricked or perhaps just very curious, we have the freewill to cross down into the pit -- escape getting bitten, or to get bitten and to know exactly what we do not want and get the hell out of the pit. Of course, a soul has the freewill to enter such a place and stay if such pain becomes pleasurable -- but that would be terribly sad seeing that Hell is death -- something we must reject in order to live. We truly live when we can see truth -- only then do our choices feel free. Hell is a trick, an entrapment, deception, lies. Hell is one lie after the other -- smoke this cigarette -- one will not hurt you, then smoke two, etc. Oh, this drink will not hurt --- so it builds one lie on top of another. Heaven is similar but in the opposite direction -- one truth in Heaven allows us to see more and more truth, and the more truths we experience and allow ourselves to experience, the stronger we get and the more astute we become at seeing a lie for what it is and creating distance between it and what we need. Hell is a sick place; whereas, Heaven is a place devoid of illness, disease, craziness and stupidity. We will not always know in this earthly journey, but we can certainly reach towards Heavenly things and seek that guidance and reject lies once we understand all the forms deception can take.

I love the distinction made between "shame" and "regret" in Part 3. In this context, I'd say shame is more about how what you've done impacts a reputation you wish to preserve for yourself (a selfish motivation and response), and regret is more about the pain you've caused in another through your acts. Both produce feelings of pain in you, which can make them hard to sort out until you do the introspective work Swedenborg suggests. Is it the pain of remorse for yourself (shame) or another (regret), or perhaps both?

Once again, thank you guys for a great break down of repentance through Swedenborg. I'd like to make an objection though about its level of difficulty. It's hell; temporary hell. Depression and loneliness most likely follow true repentence. Yes, dwelling on mantras, praying, and meditation can ease it but remember they're not called trials and tribulations for nothing. I know for me when I made the decision to come back to America to finish my degree, I was in the darkest and most hellish state I'd ever been in in my entire life. I left friends and culture that I loved in Peru to come back and trudge through homework, having no good hearted friends to keep company, and mind numbing back labor along with dealing with one of the most uncaring and b.s. cultures in the world, the American culture. As I completed a couple more semesters and finally dated an American girl for the first time in years, I've slowly improved my mental well-being. And in all of this I discovered Swedenborg. Swedenborg changed my life-mainly through your youtube videos. Because I could relate to the evil that was quite literally trying to tear me apart. There's also a whole back story to this where I participated in an Ayahuasca ceremony beforing leaving Peru which opened up not only creative deposits within but being able to perceive evil and good in my minds eye more clear than before I did Aya. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is: if you're literally going through mental hell that's causing depression and anguish, hug people you love, say mantras and affirmations, pray your butt off, meditate and envision God's light purifying you, and read and watch Swedenborg because you'll catch on quick to the processes going on in your head that are seemingly driving you mad. Swedenborg is right about the spiritual causes and solutions. Thank you!

Thank you so much for telling your story here! Yes, you are so right that along the way, there can come very harrowing trials that can indeed feel like "being in hell." We're honored and touched to be connected to your spiritual journey through this channel. You are an inspiration!

Since I started listening, it's either I find videos on your channel, play the audio version of the ESV Bible online till I find, or find look into my database of ebook collection. The truth is, I am learning so much from you, your team, Swedenborg's well-filtered resources and occasionally, I visit Charles Fillmores' Metaphysical bible dictionary. If I could double like this show I would! Yes I too would like an episode about narcissism from Swedenborg's point of view. I was raised by someone who suffered (well actually caused others to suffer) from this and from my research on the internet there seems to be a lot of people out there who are suffering from the consequences of it.
@offTheLeftEye7 жыл бұрын
Thank you, alex! It means a great deal to us to know that these shows have been helpful in your life. I guess narcissism is the concept as when Swedenborg talks about an unbalanced love of self-love of self that has take priority over altruistic love. We talk about the four basic loves, or motivations, that humans have in this show, "The Four Kinds of Love." kzbin.info/www/bejne/poHbi52JjN-ghtk When they are in the right order of priority, then that's good, but when they are out of order, then that's a big problem!

A positive view of repentance! It's about time. I agree completely about seeing repentance as looking within yourself to see what needs changing....and then changing it. The traditional Christian view that we're all born sinners and that of course we're going to do bad things because that's what people do, usually leads to no improvement and a guilty old age. I've known people who were wild young things and then in old age became rather desperate religious fanatics trying to make up for their life. They also tend to focus on the sins of others which is the common behavior of society. Baha'i teachings support your view of repentance and adds to that the idea that the worst sin is back-biting or fault finding in others. If we can just eliminate fault finding, we will appear as angels and the world will be reborn into a paradise. We should only mention the good qualities of others. Did Swedenborg say anything about backbiting?
@christinevieiranelson59457 жыл бұрын
I agree. This is the best and most influential discussion on repentence I have ever heard or read. The word itself ignites fear, but this content explains it how it is meant to be and in a peaceful way
@christinevieiranelson59457 жыл бұрын
I was also taught growing up that you can sin and sin and sin and it will always be forgiven because of Christ. That never settled with me. This makes sense. And I never felt peace with the idea that you MUST confess your sins to another man (priest). That didn't make sense to me. This explained it in such a way that completely makes sense. Otherwise, people just sin and think they are forgiven if they confess to another human. Not so.
@Filippa6987 жыл бұрын
Harlan Lang ... The New Testament does. Why wonder at the speck in your brothers' eyes, when you have logs in yours? Remove the logs from your eyes, then you may be able to help your bothers with their specks.
@harlanlang65567 жыл бұрын
Thanks Filippa! It's strange how this is overlooked in Christian culture.
@harlanlang65567 жыл бұрын
The reason that the Catholic Church instituted the confessional was that in the early days people put off becoming baptized Christians until their deathbed because of the belief that being baptized and accepting the Lord washed away all their former sins. If you're baptized young, then you accumulate all those sins after baptism and might end up in hell. It was very logical to wait until the last minute to be baptized. Believing in the power of the Confessional to forgive sins solved that problem. It seems to me that the whole concern with maximizing forgiveness revealed a self-centered religious culture which is still around. Such people behave in ways which benefit themselves, not their fellow human beings.

Yes, i was just talking to a friend about something that happened when i was very young and how I remembered everything, I thought I got over it but maybe I didn't because I remember everything of what happened. I said I forgive but I don't forget, maybe I haven't forgiven.

Thank you once again. All makes so much sense, and I do put all these points into practice. Always pray to Jesus- they do get answered. You will know that you are not alone. Wish though that the importance of kindness to animals as well as people would be mentioned, and that evil acts does include those who mistreat animals. That those people should repent, and work on themselves. I believe that this should not be missed out.
@offTheLeftEye7 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the show, sunny, and that you make prayer a regular part of your life. Yes, I know you are especially concerned about animals. Curtis loves animals, too, and we consider that to be part of the command to love the neighbor. We are not here to mention every specific way that humanity does harm, but to give the general principles that Swedenborg spelled out so that people can find the many, many ways to apply those through their own passions. I hope you will get involved with animal activist groups to let that passion of yours have an outlet. There are many people out there, working hard, and they need every helper they can get!

He does not require perfection but is willing to meet us where we are to assist, comfort and encourage us by rewarding our efforts. Great job, I shared this video. :)

as a catholic I can say we have confession as a way to get rid of our sins, of course, repentance is the key thing too, what's the use of a confession without repentance? it's hard though, you know, telling somebody else about your sins is not awesome, and it can be traumatic sometimes.. a lot of people feel unconforable about repenting but I can't see why, it's natural to grow more aware of our shortcomings and leave them behind... but certainly guilt is a dangerous thing and that should be avoided
@offTheLeftEye6 жыл бұрын
Well said, Cecilia! Swedenborg wrote that if confession helps to support one's repentance, then it is a good thing. But of course, as you've noted well, confession without the work of repentance becomes empty. Thanks for providing these valuable insights :)

People have gone on Ghost hunts and bring back spirits with them, These Spirits mess with them sometimes try to possess them, Usually it ends up in having to do many house blessings to get them out of your home, My advice for people that want to go ghost hunting is, take a class in it first so you know how to spiritually protect yourself and keep them from fallowing you home and always be respectful of the spirits
@christinevieiranelson59457 жыл бұрын
So true. I've been there and done that and can attest to the truth of this.
@christinevieiranelson59457 жыл бұрын
I feel that ghost hunting should never be a hobby bc it sounds like fun. We should look at our intentions for doing it. Is it coming from a place to help other people? This may be a calling, and God will guide you to get that protection so that you can help your neighbors. It should never be a "hobby."
@Filippa6987 жыл бұрын
Gerald Brush... My father tried to dispel my fears of ghosts, when he said that "once people die, they can no longer harm us." Was he wrong? Must we worry about disembodied spirits or chase after them?! I think evil fallen angels can cause problems, only if God allows them. But not the spirits of bad people who passed on. As a friend once said, "It was bad enough to have known them when they were alive."
@213mrclean7 жыл бұрын
Remember evil people who die can become evil spirits according to Swedenborg and as they continue at their evil in the afterlife they become more wicked and less human or known as demons, If you do not have the Lords protection Demons can harm you and do! They feed off our fears and they get credit in Hell for harming others because they are slaves of the Devil. So if you are going on a ghost hunt protect yourself by asking the Lord to surround you in the white light of the Holy spirit and ask your guides and Angles to protect you, After you leave the haunted location walk out of it backwards from where you came in at make a hand rinsing motion and tell the spirits they are not allowed to fallow you home. Remember to always treat the spirits with respect.
@Filippa6987 жыл бұрын
Gerald Brush ... Why should anyone go on ghost hunting?! Spirits can see us, but we cannot see them. We should pursue righteousness and goodness and ask God how we can further His Kingdom on any given day. Certainly, there is something better we can do than chase after spirits. It is the living who need us whether they are in human or animal form. The way we occupy our minds and days do make a difference not only to us, but others. Years ago, I did dream of a woman who had not acted right in life and died unrepentant. In my dream, she was sliding on the floor like a snake. For a long time, I did not want to accept the obvious meaning of my dream because that woman was my mother.

Excellent episode. Once you've decided who you really are, spiritual growth continues with a brutally honest self-examination of every corner of your life, followed by an ongoing mental and behavioral transformation to accommodate your new values. It's painful, but absolutely worth it. If fact, I believe it's one of the main reasons why we're here on earth. I know many other spiritual teachers have said similar things, but Swedenborg's take on it is one of the best, and you guys have done a superb job.

In regards to the question at the end about ghost hunting, I was part of a paranormal group, and it became an obsession that led me down very, very dark roads. I still feel evil trying to draw me in, but I'm able now to immediately pray it away, and it goes. I would not suggest it. Evil spirits love this and will attack very quickly and subtly, but before you know it, your life can change for the worst and it's hard work getting back (although with God--He DOES bring you back if the intention is there). However, we must always remember that the evil spirits do not ever forget that was your weakness and will wait patiently for a weak moment to try and draw you in again.

I really hope it does help anyone who is considering doing this. I had all of the equipment I could get my hands on, and believe me, it works. But I eventually got to doing it on day when we had no cases, by myself, going to cemetaries (even getting kicked out after hours) and really bad things started happening. I finally did something my spirit told me to, but my physical mind did not want to. I buried ALL of my equipment in a creek, under water, so that anyone who found it would find it useless. And that broke it. Things continued to happen, but by that time I knew how real it was but I also learned the power of God and intention. That was years ago. Today, things still happen that trigger thoughts like, "well, I could do this to communicate, but the holy spirit kicks in and I let my Angel and God take care of it and it immediately stops. Now, I'm so much more fascinated with how good spirits work than being obsesses with the wily evil. It's all so real. And I imagine it will always occur in life because I opened that door...but I know how to handle it now and I'm in awe of the Greatnesss of God. It's opened my senses to a degree much greater than it was when I was a child, but I now use common sense. It's nothing to play with. I've almost lost my llife many times. The temptation is great but we have to fight it. And I did. And I'm stronger for it. Unfortunately, many do not reach that point and hit rock bottom and lose everything--family, jobs, reputation and the ultimate, their lives. It's not a game as much fun as it looks and as interesting as it may be. I even avoid watching the shows now bc it's a temptation in itself. I thought it was an excellent question and I hope a lot of people considering take your words and mine to heart. I'd rather come across a questionable person in a mask in a dark alley. Great question to address in this day and time!

I have never had those two loves that are "deeply rooted in the human race." I have never wanted to "dominate," nor have I ever had a "love for possessing everyone's wealth." In truth, I cannot even comprehend why people have those loves. They are so destructive. It has definitely put me at a disadvantage all my life and yet, I cannot conceive of loving those things. Even as a child I used to dream of having lots of money TO GIVE AWAY to those who are even poorer than me. I would imagine giving them everything they needed: a nice place to live, beautiful clothes, a car, work and or education as they wished. No one should have to struggle just for daily needs and a comfortable home. It's just so sad. It's even worse today than when I was a child. I think I repented when I was three years old -- at Sunday school. Maybe that's why I can't think in greedy ways. God has always provided for me.

@@offTheLeftEye Thank you very much. I actively and very consciously work for God's Kingdom, trying to teach people in the ways Jesus asked us to do -- to use our gifts as given to us by God to create beautiful things and do good in the world. I also write extensively. One day, perhaps, my writings will be more widespread. I feel like Swedenborg's sister. But I just leave it all up to God and do the best I can to do things as He leads me. He has His own divine plans, some of which He reveals to us as we are able to put them to use according to His Will. Surrendering completely to God is true liberation, no matter what's going on in the world. I do think Swedenborg did wonderful work explaining these greater truths.

@@SoferiaNebruin How wonderful that you feel such a connection with Swedenborg, and a calling to write as well. You can be a true instrument in God's hands. Yes surrender is true freedom and you have discovered it early in life. You will be blessed.

Sin is malice. It's what you create when you let your judgment get under your skin.
@offTheLeftEye7 жыл бұрын
I like your way of framing sin. Although judgement can be either good or bad. For example, executing judgement can sometimes mean discerning the truth in certain matters of faith. Yet judging others without working on our own weaknesses is unwise judgement. Just thought I'd throw that out there!

Judgment is the fruit that Adam and Eve ate. Forgiveness is spitting that fruit back out. Grace is seeing the fruit but not eating it. Mercy is getting offended, staying offended, but then handing out a suspended sentence. Can you direct me to a video about the original sin, ...by OffTheLeftEye or a good one by anyone else?

4:10 Power and wealth are not sought after because of lust but rather from a scarcity mindset. So we are not talking about love at all. We are talking about lust, ...born of a desire to comfort the fear of being controlled and/or poor. The monsters are our fears.

Thanks for sharing! Fears certainly can try to overwhelm us- they do seem like monsters at times!

I would think that repentance would also give one peace of mind and more contentment. If we try to follow The Golden Rule, then we can be empathetic and try to remember how we would like to be treated and by doing so, examine how we treat others. Though I've lived long enough to mature, I have a big problem with some regrets and would like to know how to have more peace in that area. I notice you mentioned regret near the end, and that made a lot of sense. I was wondering if there Is there a video you have done that addresses regrets? This was a wonderful video. Thank you.

Hi! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed this video. It is great to hear your thoughts. I recommend our episode Rediscovering Forgiveness: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHStkIpvoapjmdE. I hope you find some useful perspective in that episode for the feelings of regret you are having. Thanks so much for being in touch!

Here's my question: A person is surrounded by people who act like the "monsters" of greed and power-mongering, and, although he/she doesn't do those particular things himself, has unsavory feelings in reaction to those things. Given the example of Curtis hoarding the snacks...we can all see that he shouldn't do that in that example...but what about the guy who just bought the snacks for everyone to share, how is he supposed to react to the hoarding and the denial? (Even though he might have his own roots to dig out...we all have things for which we must repent.) How do we respond to people who offend us with selfish and unkind behavior? Ideally, I know it should be with love, but how?

I may not be understanding your comment the way you meant it, but it brings to mind a person standing on a chair and a person on the ground. It's so much easier to pull a person on the chair down than to lift people up. Not to say we shouldn't love everyone, but be conscious of those you surround yourself with. We can still love people but know they would be toxic for our spirits.

Conjugial love 529 It is very similar in the case of those who are by the Lord's doing in a state of good. If these by an act of the will and the intellect, that is, deliberately and of set purpose, refrain from one evil as being a sin, they refrain from all evils; and the more so, if they refrain from several evils. For as soon as anyone deliberately and of set purpose refrains from any evil as being a sin, he is kept by the Lord in the intention of refraining from the others.

Thats interesting I meditate or do self examination often, Think about if you won fifty million dollars what would you really do with it? or if you were invisible what kind of things would you do? Or maybe you could stop time for the world around you what would you do? Meditate on these and see what kind of evils you might want to do if you could be in one of these or any of these situations "Oh" Imagine if an Angle of the Lord came down from Heaven and said you were allowed to sin for the next 24 hours and no matter what you do God will look away for that whole time, What would you do? Meditate on this.

Great video that I have watched again...I guess I am looking to understand how day to day things, that I sense are wrong, trace back to these two evil loves...like shopping too much! Haha. Or being offended, or analyzing/judging people to the point where I think I "know all about them" when I definately do not. What about entitlement? Unhealthy work ambition? Binge watching Netflix? Do you have any content that breaks down more of the mundane examples of how day to day things trace back to love of self or the world, and even how they tie in to the ten commandments' deeper meanings... I wish it was as clear as "thou shalt not buy more skinny jeans". ❤
