Dan Millman is a former world champion athlete, university coach, martial arts instructor, and college professor.
After an intensive, twenty-year spiritual quest, Dan’s teaching found its form as the Peaceful Warrior’s Way, expressed fully in his books and lectures. His work continues to evolve over time, to meet the needs of a changing world.
Dan’s seventeen books, including Way of the Peaceful Warrior, have inspired and informed millions of readers in 29 languages worldwide. The feature film, “Peaceful Warrior,” starring Nick Nolte, was adapted from Dan’s first book, based upon incidents from his life.
Much of Dan’s time is devoted to writing and speaking. His keynotes, seminars, and workshops span the generations to influence men and women from all walks of life, including leaders in the fields of health, psychology, education, business, politics, sports, entertainment, and the arts.
Dan and his wife Joy live in Brooklyn, NY. They have three grown daughters and four grandchildren.

The way Dan speaks is *very* relaxing and calming. The way he takes a pause and you can tell his level of comfort, oh man. This was a powerful one. Just finished reading his book "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" this morning.

I am not sure why Dan Millman recently showed up in my consciousness. I had no idea who he was. I listened to a Peaceful Warrior in the middle of the sleepless night and then more. Then watched the movie with my 9 year old son. It got me. Then watched this interview and this is what I needed for a long long long long long time. Dan - by exhibiting your authenticity, your vulnerability you made me think I was worth something, that not all that happened to me and what I made happen is wrong. Everything in life is a lesson - so i transmuted my pain and anger into "OK, what is here to learn?" and let it go and move on. It is not the end of the world. In fact it is not even important! I got , that if I just stay in the present and not go back to the past or future - i can actually be happy and present in my life again. Thank you very much for that - i really need this right now (haha in the present) . heart-heart-heart (imagine FB style :-))

Until today I was unaware of Dan Millman, I'm recovering from a hernia op so forced to sit and take it easy (something I struggle with) I flick through Prime and discover the film, then find him on a Ted Talk and now this. In finding him its opened my mind whilst reflecting. Great interview and a gift to hear and watch

This episode had a very calming ambience in it- probably it's a quality of Dan..It feels like listening to the wisdom of a great sage who although hasn't seen it all, although doesn't have all the answers but can still teach you a lot more than you can imagine

I discovered the Peaceful Warrior film some time ago. It is now my #1 top film of all time, which is saying a lot because we all know there are some incredible cinematic classics out there. I’ve seen Dan’s TED Talk, and found this interview just last night. I’ve already listened twice and will do so many times I suspect. This interview is incredible. The questions couldn’t possibly be better, and Dan’s long pauses & thoughtful answers are so rich it takes multiple listenings to catch it all. I can’t say enough how helpful I find Dan’s work and appreciate it.

I always learn so much from your interviews. I've been ruminating on Dan Millman's ideas... Inspiration passes, motivation comes and goes...Thrust your intuition...Feel a oneness with everyone you meet... We're not here to get rid of the ego, we're here to transcend it... Dream big, start small... I can't stop thinking about this. Thanks, Lewis.

I am a movie watcher also… This book is the first book I read and I read it before the movie… The movie has nothing on the book, I could not put it down. I read it while I was working and every time I got a chance I couldn’t wait to open it back up. I think mostly because I was working around the Berkeley hills so I kind of associated the book a little more clearly. I have since read it twice more

I'm currently trying to figure out how to proceed in life without much group support. I've driven myself mad continually improving processes, being more resourceful but with little or no group support. An improvement culture is a positive reinforcement around other people doing it, but without that need met it's hard. I can simulate it in my head with inner child talking or affirmations or meditation etc and consciously I could say yeah just ignore them and keep moving forward, but really I'm finding there is quite a stir inside amongst all of the systems.

5:31 - "I love quotations because they have power. A favorite quote for example by Mark Twain was, 'I've had many troubles in my life most of which never happened.' And people go wow that's true for me too. Because most of our troubles are in the past future in our imagination. They don't actually happen to us so quotes are reminders. And that's what I try to do through my writings and speak is remind people of what they already know but they tend to forget." - Dan Millman kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHi3XniDqbJ_nKcm31s

Udi DarkChild, Author; Speaker; Entrepreneur he said " I tell everybody to not feel gratitude and love"... we all hear and translate according to our own particular level of consciousness. If he has strife with his children it simply points to an over identification with his mind, his thoughts.
