She actually doesn't say anything special, she just changes how to say it a bit. I get it helps her to get her point across to make people change their perspective but if you already have that perspective it kinda looks stupid. But can't blame her lots of MS do it.

Yes but that does not change the fact that if you worry alot that you are a worrier. Cause if not then the word worrier has no meaning.

Since seeing Mel first on another Impact Theory and then here, I've been 5-4-3-2-1-ing like crazy and it's radically changing my life. I've gotten more done on my 'procrastination list' in the past ~6 weeks than in the past year - honestly. I'm making phone calls I dreaded. Mel Robbins is brilliant. Thank you Lewis.

I can not express how much I love Mel. She has helped me more than any other speaker, motivational guru, or life coach. I seek out her stuff ALL the time. I love her! She doesn't even know I exist, and that is OK, I thank the Lord for her and HE knows that I know she exists and that she helps me and many many other people. There is a special place in Heaven for her and her sweet spouse. She is an example of someone who has walked the walk.I have a ton of respect for her!

I have followed Tony Robbins for years and that's how I came across Lewis's podcasts. This podcast came up after a Tony Robbins podcast I was listening to. I had never heard of Mel Robbins so I was just halfway listening to the podcast as I was working. I went back and replayed this podcast and sat down and listened to it! This lady is amazing! I live off-grid and own an organic farm and plant nursery in Tennessee. I don't own a tv or cellphone. I used to listen to Rich Roll's podcasts while working in my greenhouses. I've now added Lewis Howe's podcasts to my playlist! It takes a lot to get me to sit down and watch anything but I plan to watch all of Lewis's podcasts! He is one of the best interviewers I've seen!

I went through postpartum and peri-menopause concurrently and it was horrific . . . I never took any meds, I hiked and joined a Parenting the Infant Class . . . nature and a support group of other new moms saved my life. My baby is now 21 so that memory is far behind me . . . I wish I'd known what Mel talks about and what I've learned from Landmark, Tony Robbins, and now Brooke Castillo and Mel, you and others: Thoughts = feelings/emotions = actions . . . control your thoughts, control your emotions, control your actions. Thanks for this interview Lewis!

I have a severe anxiety disorder and even with medication, I sometimes struggle to keep it under control. When life gets too busy, when chaos reigns, when my plate is overflowing, I need real, practical advice to press through those moments when I feel frozen. Mel's advice has real life applications for all sorts of situations. She simplifies what I've learned through life experiences, therapy and education into a practical achievable plan. God bless you, Mel!

Lewis! This is an amazing interview. I stumbled upon this interview by "accident", and it was exactly what I needed to hear TODAY! Also, it was an aha moment for me when you talked about how you never filled up the 3rd cup! I have been doing the same thing between cup 1 and cup 2 and just never felt like it/I was ever enough! Thank you for being that kind of vulnerable! It made me realize that is what the missing ingredient is! Anyway, I can't thank you and Mel enough for this interview.

wow.. I feel like she is talking about my life right now when I feel so lost and that everything that I thought would be is not at all like that now and not wanting to get up out of bed because I am too worried about everything and I don´t feel like I have a purpose. Every time that I feel like things are going to work out, something pulls my feet from underneath me. But last night a made a decision, a chose. I decided to ask myself if this is what I want my life to be like in the future, to lay around and worry or if I was going to do something about it. I decided to do something about it and started the day with a 3k walk and then I went online to look for motivational speakers and found Mel Robbins on KZbin and in the process I found this interview which I am so grateful for. Thank you Lewis.

I needed to hear the message about the empty cup and trauma and success never being enough. Going through this evolution myself right now and it really does make ALL the difference. If you don’t focus on the “you” and get that under control, you’ll sink. That negative self talk will pull you under eventually! Love it.

I have never heard of Lewis Howes and only recently found Mel and the 5 second rule. A couple months ago maybe I heard her for the first time. I tried the 5 second rule back then once and found it intriguing. I thought I would buy her book but I procrastinated because I have a "habit of procrastination." I have a faith in God that has delivered me from a some very destructive habits. I have desired to do a few things for the past 9 months and still to this day have failed to execute those desires. WHY, has been the question in my mind as each day I don't exercise, each day I don't make those phone calls or visits. It is on the list of things to do today to get her book. I am excited to hear her of how this book can help me alter my life by choosing to use the 5 second rule to override my "feelings" of I want to but I don't "feel like it". I was in tears by the end of it to hear the expressions of appreciation and edification for each other. I feel like a failure but I have renewed hope in the possibilities of fulfilling my dreams for my life. To become the best person that I was born to be. Thank you Mel and Lewis! Much love to you both.

Lewis, wow man, this interview of Mel Robbins (who I didn't know about until now) spoke so clearly and articulated her 5 second rule very well. I learn so much from all your podcasts, you choose all the right people and ask the right questions. You do great work!

Absolutely love the people your bring onto your show. This is amazing stuff that must be taught in every school and job. I love watching your shows and others like you because I want to spend my 20s developing myself and finding myself so I have more time relaxing and enjoying the rest of my life. What a great thing you are doing by providing this information. You and Mel are amazing. I listened to you this morning on Glenn Beck and I could tell you were a good person and therefore must have good guests on your podcast. I will be watching and listening to more. Thank you, thank you. This is so spot on; we all make decisions with our feelings/gut, no matter how smart we think we are. Thank you for having the guts to do this.

That's so crazy, 6 months ago I had some health issues which caused panic attacks for the first time in my life. I had to go on Ativan and later Zoloft too. I'm happy she shared that because it feels taboo to talk about. Especially, at 32. I'm definitely going to check out her book.

Missa McFadden Mel said in another one of her talks that if she had diabetes, she'd have to monitor the way her body metabolizes sugar. She said with panic attacks, it's like diabetes, it's just how her body responds to stress. Which is so true. Nothing to be self-conscious about. I now tell people I suffered from them because maybe my sharing may help someone else too. xo

Hang in there. I went through something similar when I was around your age. I had a great job that I loved so much but it was inevitable I was going to lose it. I had panic attacks and they were terrible. I was on some medication and actually had a lot of unnecessary medical tests. Sometimes we face real life problems and stresses for the first time and this is what happens. Try to power through whatever problems you were having and have some positives in your life and the panic attacks will hopefully go away and the fear will become a distant memory.. And also learn to not get stressed out. Just deal with stuff as it comes and don't dwell on it.

By the way, there's ONE simple trick you can do to get out of bed immediately without all the delay justifications... Put your alarm clock outside of the bedroom. That's it. Why making it complicated... You can't stand that noise, you will have to get up. I had the same issue with snoozing for years and since I have the clock outside of the bedroom for about two years now, I get up in ONE second literally saying every time "oh yes, let's do this". And you already have an immediate, no procrastination start for the day, which you will feel throughout the day.... try it out, free tip from me :-)

Andreas Roos Ha - I moved the alarm clock across the bedroom 23 years ago. Getting up at 5:15 a.m. this still works to move me into mental action also.

5 Second Rule = 5 Second Window between the instincts, the shoulds, the urges, the inner wisdom, things that can change your life if you listen to it. You got a 5-second window from the moment you feel the instinct, Its a move and if you don't, your brain is designed to actually kill it - 30:33
