Not enough ppl talk about this film! One of TC’s actual impressive dramatic performances. He can do it if he wants to. Penelope Cruz knocked it out the park in her English film debut. And even Cameron Diaz plays her role perfectly. This and the Sigur Ros track are perfect at the end. Truly one of the best soundtracks ever put together and rarely anyone talks about it. Looper, Radiohead, and lots of other amazing tracks. Like the Crow soundtrack you don’t really skip any songs.

@@mholliday3476 I'm so sick of the TC bandwagon hate, he's a tremendous actor. Anyone who has seen Rain Man, The Last Samurai, Collateral, Vanilla Sky, Interview with a Vampire, Born on the Fourth of July, A Few Good Men, etc. can tell you he's a fantastic dramatic actor with an impressive range. Can we stop pretending he's not a LEGEND in acting?

For GARRETT, a guy from Colorado/Maryland who showed me this song and also showed me what it's like to truly connect with someone. Soul to soul, mind to mind, not like the other ones in the past. I miss your voice, your sleepy "hellos", and your giggles. I miss your words, and the way you put your thoughts together. I miss your little quirks, and even the ones that would annoy me sometimes. I hope that as you slipped away you felt what this songs you showed me made you feel, but also my love. I hope you are eternally jamming out. One day we will meet again, to tell you that I indeed love you too. Rest in my heart.

Buddy I saw Spiritualized on the Pure Phase tour in 1995. It was at the Paradise club on Commonwealth (BU district)Ave in Boston. I went to the show to see the ipening act: Polara from Minneapolis. I knew nothing of Spiritualizedat at that time. I watched the opening and loved it and was about to leave when I noticed the crew setting up the stage for the headliners. I kept watching and got more curious. Well…I ended up staying and was glad I did. The show was the best club performance I have ever witnessed. The acoustics in that venue suited them perfectly. The fog, the lights, the projector…it was so good! Jason Pierce was like some kind of musical visionary in that moment

I spent 22 years with a lovely girl. I loved her but now I know I didn't love her in the way that I needed. When we broke up she told me that I didn't have any good memories of our time together. I do but I just don't express them well when face to face with tears. I still remember those early days in London. I still remember the look on your face when I smuggled those pills into your first rave. I still remember the way you used to kiss me amidst the lazers while high on E and I certainly remember the night that I played this song to you. Over and over again while you sat on my bed smoking joint after joint with me and laughing at how I sung this song to you, on loop, for what I remember to be an entire night of happiness that I still remember vividly to this day. I will love you till I die and I will.. but I am sorry it didn't take the pain away. At that moment I was confident it would. My heart was in the right place. I know for that night your heart was there too. Please don't think I don't have any happy memories of you.

Andrew Adams 22 years is nearly a life time for me, I certainly cannot imagine how much pain you must endure to get over such a long relationship. You are a warrior, my friend.
@jesulaughs
@jesulaughs 9 жыл бұрын
Brett, I do think Andrew has a lot of wounds. And I don't agree with the drug use. However, I doubt we can make judgements about a whole person citing a single paragraph they have written. You are right. He does seem self-absorbed. You may possibly be filtering his comments through the co-dependent relationship you were trapped in. And I'm sorry. No-one should ever go through what you had to go through. But just because people foster co-dependency doesn't make them monsters. It makes them hurt, wounded. And we are all hurting. And here we have a choice. We can either react by hurting others, or we can rebel against the cycle and empathize with their pain, and then maybe try to stress (gently) ways of improvement. But you haven't done that. If you continue treating people this way, you are just as bad as those you are criticizing.
@jesulaughs
@jesulaughs 9 жыл бұрын
Even if you are right, you are still missing the point. People get hurt and will hurt as a result. Have some empathy, stop the cycle. I've said everything I needed to say. au revoir!

In my first year of uni I had volunteered at our closed circuit radio station and found this gem of a beauty in our label supplied comp CD's. I was drawn to the album cover's geometry, elegance and simplicity as it stood out from the piles of trying-too-hard album covers. I fell instantly in love with this song (thanks to its modern but complex take on JP's Canon). It was a perfect theme song for a year of destructing and reconstructing what I believed about the world.

For 6 years I loved someone, we had all the elaborate plans about the future, including playing this song at our wedding. Then something out of our control happened and we had to break up. It broke my heart and a year later I’m still not feeling better. I didn’t move on and the truth is I didn’t want to. I’ll see you in next life, my dearest love.

There's several layers of backing vocals actually. You have an a capella group forming the choral base, then you have the voice that appears to be on top with the repeating verse and then you have the actual verses. It's a beautifully constructed song.

i first discovered this beautiful song with someone i loved, they shared it with me, and it felt so intimate and nice i fell asleep to it throught the phone. learned that she was in a relationship and my heart sunk. every now and then i come back here to listen to this masterpiece, remember the times she and i shared, remember how she'd take care of me. we're now friends, but my heart keeps wondering where we could've been now if she were mine.

the first time I heard this song was16 years ago. I had seperated from my wife and was driving to work. I was listening to the college radio station and was instantly drawn into the music. I pulled over and cried. years later, I laughed how such a simple song with a simple message could affec me so. Now, older and wiser, I see maybe if I listened to my heart I might have saved a beautiful thing. don't be me.

I think that there will always be love for the one we married. But truthfully, I wouldn't want to be married to him again. It's one thing to date and have your own space but living with someone can sometimes ruin things. What was once cute is now annoying! ppl take each other for granted (men moreso..sorry!) and we think we give more than the other...why can't we just see the good in each other and stay in love? ppl suck..
@thatbadhuh
@thatbadhuh 3 жыл бұрын
@@kitschmygrits4836 I think part of the problem is giving up our individuality. But then again, this is just one of many things that go wrong. One that goes right only to go wrong, i think, is sharing a space. Having the person close, being free to explore another mind, is magical. Yet, in this space. We don't leave room to be ourselves. The mystery of them, when we first saw them, motivated us to seek them, it was a powerful feeling. Is this where we go wrong? The problem with removing the mystery. Is that we slowly fade what brought ua close together. Its only naturally then, to think of the other as part of us. Isn't that what made us seek someone? Only having ourselves to explore this world pushed us to find someone beyond us. That understood this, whatever this is, a little different from us. I miss the first dozen moments, i had with my love, because everything was new then. And i hadn't broken down all the mystery between us.

I prefer this version to the apparently 'original' version that Elvis' estate wouldn't allow to be released so to the lyrics (but Jason always performed live). The new 'original' version is now on the reissue albums and Spotify, this version has been removed.

My dad and I used to listen to this song together when we were driving to visit my mom in the hospital. I would try to hold back my tears. I was a scared and lonely 12 year old kid and my mom's battle with with brain cancer was hard to understand. My dad would always ruffle my hair and give me a smile somehow during the last few moments of the song. It always cheered me up. 2 years later I listened to this song as they lowered my dad's casket into the ground. He was a stuntman and he used to work for Evel Knievel, testing his bikes before big jumps. He would do the jumps first to make sure they were safe and let Evel come in and get all the glory. After a while the old man said, "To hell with that. I want the credit I deserve." So one afternoon, he set out to jump ten milk trucks. He nailed the take-off, but when he landed, something terrible happened. His front tire exploded like a cannonball, and his handle bars went straight through his head. Blood was everywhere. His teeth were ground down to a powder, and the front of his face exploded out the back of his skull. He died instantly, the next day.

After much spam of this song, I can say this. You can wish for taking the pain away, and it will come. That does come with a cost though, it requires you to get up and fight. To get through so many terrible days at the start, then to have them once in a while. Then you have the flag in your hands and you are running with victory. The ending of the song with all of the sounds going on, makes your heart explode almost. It's a sign that there is a heartbeat in you even though you feel your heart in your stomach. Never give up, because not trying is not the same as don't try. I love you all, and I love Me. Take Care.
