@Zigeuninja2 жыл бұрын
oh youre right we never got his name did we?
@danielfernandezA242 жыл бұрын
@@Zigeuninja it’s not mentioned throughout the movie, he’s just the “driver”, this is a narrative implementation to provide more importance to our character actions, internal struggles and moral consequences rather than identifying them by a standard name. Driver is a perfect anti-hero, a man with good intentions that constantly cross moral lines for greater good in a cynical world, he is self aware of this, and must remain away from those he loves in order to protect them from himself and his “own nature” like the scorpion with the frog.

Just know when you lose people, it is a test for you on how you going to be after that situation. Accept that this life is not the end, its just a beginning and there is an after life. This man gave me some water and rode the train all the way back to Queens with me. He made sure I got off safety at 40th street on the 7 line despite being late for work. That night I crawled into bed and watched Drive for the first time. What a befitting movie for me to watch that day.

I personally think Drive is a tragic story. Real heroes don't get the girl, they don't ride off into the sunset. They have to walk away from the one the want the most, in order to keep them safe. They may have to do terrible things in order to save the day. In order to keep the ones they care about safe, they have to walk this earth alone. All lot of times real heroes die in the end. All they leave behind is a car, a leather jacket, and maybe a few close friends who remember who they were.

People often ask me why "Drive" with Ryan Gosling is my favorite movie of all time. Because I don't know a second movie that combines opposites with such a genius. It contains elements of an action movie, but they are not loud, tiring and silly. They are realistic, they cause a feeling of insecurity and curiosity in us.. At the same time, the movie has a love theme that is not corny and cheesy like in 3/4 of such movies. It is beautifull and really relatable. It shows a real feeling. At the beginning of the film, when we look at the main character, we think "ah it will be another action movie with a confident and ruthless hero." The further we go into the film, we see that the figure of a sensitive man emerges from the initial image of a criminal driver and a brutal murderer. At the end of the movie, we see a purehearted person in front of us. An image of a real human being, and a real hero.

It was a great movie- yet it was slow as hell at times and surreal, because people don’t act that way in real life. I enjoyed how little dialogue was used (especially by the barely mute and seemingly autistic main character) but wish the story would have explained the main character and his strange behavior/difficulty interacting with people.

You can. We tend to forget it... But you can. It will have consequences, possibly grave ones. But ultimately you ARE free to do whatever you want. It's absolutely not wise to excersize this freedom mindlessly, sure. But with age we tend to fall into routines and learn to fear breaking out of them, abandoning freedom completely . The trick is to realize that this is a choice, albeit not a conscius one.

@zimzimzalabim7 жыл бұрын
LOL, child please, you obviously didn't grow up in that decade, and proved your ignorance as you can't tell this sound apart from 80s synth/techno/electro pop. New wave is a very broad term, what the hell are you talking about? Just because some modern day band uses synths it doesn't mean they are emulating the 80s. It'd be like claiming that any band that uses electric guitars today would sound "exactly" like 60s rock. FFS get some education before talking and embarrassing yourself further.

I'll never forget that moment in my life. I was on a road trip with my girlfriend at the time and her family. We stopped in Montana to see a national park. It was just me and her. Alone together. It was the height of our love for each other. A time of self discovery and real love. Something I never really had for a long time. I cried in her lap. Tears of happiness and sadness. I never wanted her to leave my side. It didn't last another 4 months. It was most excruciating painful and depressing point in my life. I've since moved on. Even if it wasn't long. I'll always love the moment and experience for what it was.

Decent acting?? Fucking spectacular acting bro... Don't insult Gosling like that. Dude was considered a front runner to win Oscar back in 2011. He nailed this role of a sociopath exceptionally with incredible subtlety. @stryderblack39518 жыл бұрын
Driver was an Anti-hero in a post super-hero world. No one knew who he was or where he came from. He was the scorpion. a cold, calculated, powerful assassin. He wanted a new life. tried his best to fit in and be a good person and utilize his skills to make a decent living. he grew to love people, something that was foreign to him. and at that point all he wanted to do was to protect them. to do that he knew he had to become the scorpion once more. he wore that jacket as his armor. it made him fearless. gave him strength to tap into the darkness within him to do what was necessary. he didn't care about money. and Ultimately, his willingness to put others before himself made him more than just a scorpion. it made him more human than most, and it made him a true hero. the stab wound didn't kill him because the scorpion jacket was his armor. He realized this as he sat in the car, that he couldn't run away form who he was. he accepted it, and decided to move on, no matter how much it hurt to leave those he grew to care for.

Couldn’t avoid to cry a little bit and have a feeling of hopelessness, when I found out that a girl at college I was friends with and I liked, told one of her friends just beside me that she had a boyfriend, I felt so stupid because I thought she liked me too, but I wouldn’t want to disrupt their relationship, right after I found out, I remembered the movie and it’s ending, with the driver not being able to be with Irene and the kid, I listened to this song non stop in the subway, all the way back home. I moved on but every time I listen to this song I remember her, I know they’re still together and I’m happy for them.
