I bought a 1080p motorcycle dashcam off Ali a few weeks ago. Features, mounting, sound and video look about the same as the K7 here. Was $66 from Ali. Downside is that it took 4 tries to get a vendor that actually shipped the dumb thing, but I wasn't in any hurry. I've had it running on the bike for 2 weeks so far, so good. One I put on a bike 3 years ago flaked out (it was branded BlueSkySea). I think it got vibrated to death, it still sorta works but the video rips and tears on both cameras a lot.

I've had 3 motorcycle dash cams now. The audio is ALWAYS going to suck on them - I mean how can it not? It's under the seat, it has nothing to hear but engine racket and wind. The only reason I leave it on is in case I have some situation where I stop the bike (or crash it), the engine is off/not running and it might pick up some conversation or something else that could be useful later. Otherwise I'd just set it to not record audio.

I added a K7 to my NC750x yesterday, 09.06.2024, the yellow wire went to my Thunderbox for power. Using it for base front and rear shots with my Insta 360 for added emphasis content. Turned the writing of gps data off, lol. Agreed with taking the card out to edit footage and as the box is in my "Frunk" of the NC750x then that is easy. And easy for firmware upgrading also.

hey, nice ride, nice vid, great sound quality! got a question about the K7 if you got a moment, have you tried the footage with the image stabilization on? sounds like in 1080p it can do that. partly thinking for clearer image grabs in the event of a collision then number plates might be clearer? anyway what has been your experience with the eis on the K7 and can you upload some comparison vids with it on and off?

So, I ran it at 2K resolution so I could punch in a bit on the video if needed. Yes Image Stablization would help see license plates, but I can see plate numbers pretty well even at 2k without it.

It would be a good camera, but unfortunately the bitrate is too low (12K bit/s at 1080). The image is pixelated wrong quality. I will stay with my K2 with modified firmware (bitrate 20K bit/s) I will return the K7 to the seller. It was a big disappointment, and I was really looking forward about the EIS.

Blind spot monitor is a gadget. If you’re not doing head checks (and double head checks) you shouldn’t be on a motorcycle IMO. Also it’s another distraction. K7 is great. It has parking monitor too. 8 assume the mic is high gain so it can pick up everything after an accident (ie what bystanders are saying etc). In essence it’s more for evidence than vlogging.

not all relays are created equal. Connect up your bobbins, in this case your camera, but leave the negative loose. Take a voltmeter across the battery and then connect the negative side of the bobbins to the battery and watch if the voltage across the battery changes. If it does that is how much power your bobbins is draining when your bike is off. If its very much it will kill your battery. Did you check this one? All the cameras i have tried are TERRIBLE drains. I haven't tried any of the INNOVV camera.

Blind spot monitor on a motorcycle, ok. But if a rider is being intelligent, they'll still turn their head and be 100% sure. Not doing so will create a horrible, if not deadly habit. But I like the idea of a Blind Spot Monitor as an additional warning.

Gotta say, when I bought a truck with BSM I noticed pretty quickly that my situational awareness was actually worse. I realized I started looking at the light in the mirror rather than looking at the objects in the mirror. I permanently disabled BSM and immediately my SA improved and I had fewer close calls when changing lanes. For me and the way I drive, at least, BSM is worse than worthless.
@Onewheelordeal6 ай бұрын
Seems like a pretty dangerous way to throw away $300 and have every other rider poking fun at you. Makes more sense as a disability aid if you can't turn your neck and still wanna ride. I used to have a lot less ppl blindly change lanes into me before that lil light on side mirrors made everyone even lazier.

If you'd asked me 10 years ago I'd pass on the blind spot monitor as it would have only been good to have a couple of times where a supercar whizzed past me on the highway. Now I'd say it's almost mandatory just to warn you of the Uber Eats riders sneaking up on you & trying to take your spot at the front of the lights. As for the dash cam, I'll stick to a chin mounted action camera for the versatility. Looking through a car window at the driver who just cut you off with a camera strapped to your chin does a much better job of getting said driver to modify their behavior than smashing off their side mirror. At least it does here in Australia from my experience. You just have to be disciplined enough to keep your batteries charged, remember to start recording at the beginning of the ride & have enough space on your card. Less disciplined people should stick to a dash cam as an alternative though. Better to have footage than not if something happens on the road.

@@ADingoTookMyDasco thanks for confirming. If the worst ever happens, I’ve just found out about an app and software called “Gyroflow“ that will stabilize footage to read plates.
