In this video we go back to the roots of the channel and fly the beautiful FlyingIron Simulations Spitfire MkIX, or as I call her Sim GILDA, from her home at Spitfires.com at Goodwood to Tatenhill with a few points of interest on the way including a salute to the fallen at the National Memorial Arboretum.

VOTE YES Favourite warbird to fly is the FlyingIrons Simulations Spitfire. I would love a De Havilland Mosquito. My favourite warbird. Great to see Wellesbourne airfield in the video, flown with a friend a few times from there and there's also a Vulcan Bomber there. Always great to see.

Great video, Came across your video by accident on the burning blue discord, Love the voice effect. Love the UK tours in war birds. Yes for the voice effect, Suits this sort of flying, Maybe not in every aircraft, But warbirds etc it makes it more atmospheric.

Thanks mate for quick response. I splashed out a few years ago and bought the thrustmaster pendulum set up. Nice peddles, have set up an axis for the diff brakes works well with practice.

Ah we have the same setup there. The TPR is great. I came to them from the Saitek pedals and there was a big difference. You’ve got some great kit there so all I can say is keep at it. I find the trick with the Spit is to be extra gentle.

I always watch every second of your videos and I love them. I'd vote to keep the voice effect on. It really does add to the emersion. Vote yes. Sounds good in flight. Must say I enjoy your Burning Blue Airfield reviews. I have bought some as a result. Next week I upgrade my graphics card to a RTX 4080. So hopefully I will be able to get a lot more of them. My old RTX 3080 was too border line. I also bought the helicopter 145 as a result of your videos. So take from me your reviews and videos have an effect.

These pauses definitely started with SU13 - for me too (also fast internet and PC). That stutter abeam of the wind socket just as you lifted off seems to be a result of the combination of BBD Goodwood and MamuDesign's marinas. The question being: Why am I watching a video that does exactly the same as what I have done dozens of times? ;)

@@Dreamsofwings Hmmm... interesting. For me disabling Marinas worked to get rid of the Goodwood stutter - which is already being discussed on their Discord. Pretty sure a solution will be found. No idea about those half-a-second pauses over simple scenery that shouldn't require a significant bandwidth to download or processor load to display.

Always love your videos. It was one of your Spitfire flights that convinced me to take the plunge into MSFS VR. Can I ask what are you using to get such beautiful colours in the sim? OpenXR? And what settings have you found give that colour to the British countryside if you don’t mind sharing. All the best and keep up the great work. Paul

Vote Yes! My brother and I are flying around the world in MK IX spitfires. Started in Orkney Island and landed today in Dong Hoi Vietnam. 250+ hr in total so far. Full Authentikit Spitfire cockpit controls too. Had a landing failure today.... Didn't notice the green light with the sun behind me, and belly landed her....😢.Hanoi tomorrow and on to Hong Kong. Then Taiwan to Philippines and clockwise around Australia, Indonesia, to Cambodia. All in VR.

Many thanks! I have accuseason set to automatic for the tiny changes and it’s pretty much as it is out of the box except I have the tree canopies set to irregular or whatever the official terminology is in the settings 😀

Hello. I have the flying iron version of the spitfire. How do you fly her so smooth. I have trouble with my controls flying. Very difficult in msfs. Tried for weeks adjusting the settings. Very hard.

Hi there, It can depend on a few different factors but I was lucky with the weather in this video. The FlyingIron spit bucks around a fair bit in low level turbulence. What controls are you using?

Yes very easy. I’ve set it to automatic to keep in line with gradual seasonal changes. There are some settings but nothing heavy and it all feels intuitive.

@@Dreamsofwings it's been there for me for several weeks, since the last update, maybe you don't have stress damage on in msfs settings, as that is the workaround, unless they have fixed it now and I wasn't aware lol.

Just for adding realism.... do you know that flying low over villages and city must be avoided? If you look at approach charts even of little airstrips the forbidden areas are clearly shown.

While I appreciate the immersion aspect, and think it is a very nice realistic touch, the sound of cockpit headsets is a truly awful tone - both here and IRL - especially considering that you have a normally quite soothing voice. This is only the second of your videos that I've watched, the other being a different Spitfire flight where you did not employ this effect. I was just nodding off to sleep listening to the engine hum when that nasty audio filter kicked in and jolted me right awake! The aviation enthusiast in me appreciates the nod to realism and immersion. The audiophile in me absolutely cannot stand it and I'm honestly a little dismayed to learn your other videos feature this as well :( It's a No from me, but I enjoy your content so I'll try to learn to live with it.
