Glenn Healy was a hero to me in my childhood. I was a goalie from a modest income, Cole Harbour family where there was turmoil and no father. I met him when I was twelve years old at a Golf Tourney in Oakfield Nova Scotia, August 1992. We took a picture together and I had the presense of mind to ask him about his blocker hand injury. I saw on Sports Desk that he had actually lost part of a finger from an incident in practice. I was a small kid at twelve. I remember he playfully grabbed the brim of my hat. He left an impression on me. *Fast forward to March 9th 1994 . Rangers/Caps.neutral site game. I had miraculously scored a ticket to sit directly behind the New York Rangers Bench, right next to where they walk out onto the ice. This was the Cup year for that team. I sat and I observed. The men I marveled at in Sports Desk highlight reels and hockey cards were again right up in front of me. Early in the first period Mr Healy came to the bench and was getting his skate worked on by a trainer..... I held up the picture of he and I and ......honest to god he winked at me. That type of acknowledgment from a bonafied and ON the JOB, NHL goaltender in that era was very surreal . Etched permanently in my mind. I remember it to this very day. Thank you Mr Healy if you are reading this.

Healy's great, a real good egg. What a fuckin' hang that'd be. I remember him lipping Iron Mike in 94 for getting pulled after 1 goal against the Islanders at Nassau, whom Healy played for the previous year, amidst all that 1940 shit and the Rangers not winning there for 5 years. Imagine the trashings between Keenan and Healy lol btw The Rangers did beat the Islanders at Nassau that year and then win the Stanley Cup to boot. Arguably the best playoff series ever played sports wide was that years conference finals between the Rangers/Devils.

Healy is a solid dude. Anyone in the comments here who is genuinely bashing him for being arrogant, too hard on RA, or any other bs...... The following explanations/reasons apply........ 1. They are not a guy (*qualifier: A normal/average dude **Second qualifier with actual friends IRL) 2. Obviously doesn't play/never played hockey or any real team sport after the age of 12 (*qualifier: and no, battle team/pvp Fortnite with your "crew" doesn't count as a team sport haha.) 3. Please look up the word: Sarcasm in Websters Dictionary 3a. Please look up "to Chirp" in any slang dictionary/translator. There are many more.... Please feel free to add! Heals deserves it!
