I met Brian Burke in the Toronto airport many many years ago was on my way home from an old man hockey tournament. I went up introduce myself shook his hand and told him I’d love to hear all his experiences in a book I’ve been following him through the hockey news there really wasn’t that much hockey news down in the states in the 90s. He was very polite he asked me sheepishly if I would like an autograph I said real men don’t ask for autographs from other men he laughed and we sat down at the bar and had two drinks and just talked hockey amazing man I’ve shared this interview on three other platforms great job guys

Too far from everything. 28:40 Analytics "They've created an industry that would only hire them." 31:34 Doesn't like clean hit fights. 36:41 Truculence. 44:14 "Gary, you have to slow down." 50:55 Burke offers to get press off Kessel. 1:01:19 Burke doesn't want the NHL to go back to the way when he played but also wants fighting and hitting to stay in the game. 1:09:06 Driving Klatt to the airport.

Also, that's the poetry of hockey. It turns sacrifice into a gift and celebrates it. Ted Lindsay said once, I think: "It's me for you, and you for me." and in hockey we love the 4th liner who blocks a shot so his team can win. That Jay Baruchel movie that had Doug Glatt, perfectly encapsulates the team dynamic between the skilled guys (who the analytics peeps love) and the grunts who play the hard things because they love their teammates. Marshall McLuhan brought up the stats keeping thing LOOOONG ago as something that would dominate the sports, because it was going to be the financial peeps who love those things who would come to dominate the business of hocey, because they would be able to speak the language of those who could buy teams. That's why I love Green Bay, and I don't even really like American Football lol

the guy in the blue hat is interrupting the flow of the interview....he has no feeling for it at all...he is asking ok questions at the wrong time repeatedly... you can even see the internal cringe on the faces of the other two guys, who have a great raport with each other and the guest as well, i noticed this in their other interviews , may be a good idea to leave the blue hat guy behind the scenes, it would elevate the whole show...just my two cents

The story Orr tells about the Quinn hit is later in that series some mafia-looking dude comes up to him in the lobby of the hotel and quietly asks "do you want me to take care of Pat Quinn for you?" Bobby or course goes "What? No!" But yeah, apparently that happened. A guy was literally prepared to bump Quinn off because he hit Orr.
