Adam, as a Disney fan always glad to hear your thoughts on the matter. Splash Mountain holds a special place in my heart as a great attraction. I agree (even though it's been a while) that Splash Mountain Orlando holds an edge to Aneheim). I'm all for change, but love the music to Walt's film Song of the South which won best original song for Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah at the Academy Awards in 1947 and James Baskett who was a tremendous actor won an academy award for his role in this film.

I'm going to miss the Zip a Dee Doo Dah Song most of all. I grew up happily singing and whistling that song, especially on Disneyland Day, and it's weird to me to now realize that such a wonderfully optimistic and joyful song is being erased from existence. And that Splash Mountain finale? Perfect example of the best of Disney. I hope they strive to replicate that same finale feeling on the new ride. Embrace the future, remember the past. 💚

@@shawnokeefe1580 What exactly does it mean to other people? Just because a good song from a stereotypical slave movie is included, that makes the ride inappropriate? Just because something good was included in something bad, it turns the good thing bad? So, since Hitler was against animal cruelty, does that mean we have to advocate for animal cruelty? No one can be against animal cruelty because then you’re agreeing with Nazi’s and hitler? Lol, don’t be ridiculous, the Splash mountain song shared none of the race stereotyping that the movie Song of the South did. Just like how being against animal cruelty doesn’t make you a Nazi😂

I visited Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom this past Sept. I knew the planned replacement of the iconic ride was imminent and I wanted one last go before it disappeared. We can only hope that the new ride will not disappoint comparitively. But as always that determination will be at the discretion of the riders. Jusay'n, if the new ride turns out to be as lame as the Navi River Journey at Animal Kingdom, then disappointment is as imminent as the end of Splash Mountain.

Disney Parks has become incredibly cheap. There is no need to get rid of Splash Mountain. Disney could have created a separate Tiana attraction without getting rid of the former. And I'm getting tired of Disney Parks taking the cheap way out by replacing an established and successful attraction with something new. For example . . . Mickey and Minnie's RR in Florida. Disney Parks could have created this attraction at another location, instead of replacing The Great Movie Ride. There is also the Frozen attraction at EPCOT. Not only did it replace a favorite of mine - Maelstrom - it looks cheap in compared to many other dark rides at the Disney Parks. And I cannot solely blame Bob Chapek for this.

Thank you for the video documenting the upcoming closing of a classic Magic Kingdom attraction. At 19:45 you watched the green locomotive roll by. That is the Lilly Belle, the only mogul type of locomotive that operates on any Disney theme park railroad in the world. You also said that there are two trains. The Walt Disney World Railroad has four locomotives and their associated cars. They are the following locomotives with these wheel arrangements: Engine 1 - Walter E. Disney, 4-6-0 Engine 2 - Lilly Belle, 2-6-0 Engine 3 - Roger E. Broggie, 4-6-0 Engine 4 - Roy O. Disney, 4-4-0 Your friend was correct when he stated that all four locomotives were originally made by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia. As I was reading the comments from other viewers, I kept hearing people lamenting about Splash Mountain going away forever. Please everyone, do not forget that Disneyland and Walt Disney World are not the only Disney theme parks on the planet! There are other Disney theme parks outside of the ones in California and Florida. Splash Mountain, with all of its original "Song Of The South" themeing is still alive and well at Tokyo Disneyland. Oriental Land Company has not said anything publicly about changing its themeing. I highly doubt that Tiana will be moving into Splash Mountain in Tokyo because that would require a massive, complete rethemeing of Critter Country over there because that entire land literally was completely built around Splash Mountain. Oriental Land Company, unlike the Walt Disney Company, does not have a well documented recent history of slapping a new theme on an attraction that completely clashes with the theme of the land that it is located in. Over in Japan, they have a keen eye for detail and they only add a new theme to an attraction if it makes sense. (Of course, now that I think about it, they do have Haunted Mansion in Fantasyland which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! At least that particular nonsense has always been that way since the park opened.) So please fellow Disney fans do yourselves a favor, open your eyes and minds, and get out of the US Disney theme parks. You just might find that they do many things much better than the US ones, like keeping original themeing in their attractions. This especially applies to Tokyo Disneyland where Brier Rabbit still lives and the bride in the Haunted Mansion is still the original super creepy one with a red beating heart and she never ever utters a word. Tokyo Disneyland also maintains their attractions to an incredibly high standard. I have never ever seen any attraction operating at the two parks over there with inoperative animatronic figures and effects like what was shown in the Magic Kingdom's Splash Mountain in this video. That was an absolute disgrace seeing so many things still and lifeless in there! I know that, as Adam said, the ride is going to be completely changed soon but still that was an incredibly bad show. Thanks again Adam for the video!

@RT Dogg Well, I don't know about that. I stay out of politics. All that I know is that after visiting the overseas Disney theme parks, particularly the ones in Japan, they do many things extremely well over there. Maintenance at the parks in Japan in particular, like I said in my initial comment, cannot be matched.

I remember how happy it made me that Splash Mountain brought back Briar Rabbit without the controversy from a 50 year old film (at that time), silly because the movie had been out for so many years before it was deemed it needed to be erased. Not a good move I think, as we need to be able to look back at history and learn from it, good or bad. Short version, I think this is a mistake.

Judging by the comments, and the overall consensus I’ve heard from people in general, most are not happy about the removal of splash mountain. Seems like most of us have happy memories riding splash mountain. The ride is excellent. Great animatronics, and I think most kids love briar rabbit. But yet again the woke bs media pressures Disney to erase a part of their history. I have nothing against having more rides that include various cultures and races, but why not build a new ride instead of replacing a classic? It’s just ridiculous.

I'm looking forward to the "Princess and the Frog" ride but at the same time I'm gonna miss Splash Mountain. I understand the need to eliminate racism in the public but "Song of the South" wasn't racist (it's based on the Uncle Remus Tales, an African American. It's voiced by African American voice actors and it also has a giant African American actor and actress studio cast, which was unheard of back in the times when "Song of the South" was filmed) and let's face it Splash Mountain definitely isn't racist. The last time I checked neither film or ride has characters getting the stuffing beat out of them and if people are going to play at the slavery angle then they need to do their research (the book was created from the tales of an African American slave named Uncle Remus, written by someone who used to own him). Yes, slavery day's were horrible and racism is awful and should be eliminated. There are worse films that they could be taking it out on (Alex Haleys "Roots" for example, which does show the atrocities of slavery, which does use the N-word constantly, which does show raping of African slaves and definitely shows racism pretty much through the whole film). And when was the last time singing "how do you do?", "the laughing place", "Song of the south" and " zipadeedoodah" racist? I understand that the ride needs refurbishment and the disney is an always changing company but why must they take out their aggression on the founder of the company himself by continuously changing or getting rid of rides and movies he himself oversaw?

Closing this ride is a shame and it's not racist Uncle Remus was considered part of the white folks family and got the lead role. WDW is closing the ride because they can't cross merchandise the ride with the movie to make money pure and simple All NEW Disney films will be made with Rides to go with them and lots of merchandise. Read: Although its provenance rests in African folklore, the term "tar baby", the name of the decoy used by Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear to trick Br'er Rabbit, is viewed by some Americans as having a negative connotation towards African Americans. This controversy, among other alleged racial issues, has prevented the release of the movie on home video, or streaming service in the United States. As veteran African American animator and Disney Legend Floyd Norman stated, "The film is charming in its simplicity and sadly people tend to read too much into it. Issues that are simply not there. The 'Tar Baby' being the most notorious example. It was never meant to be a metaphor for black children, yet those with a social agenda often point to this particular story to prove their point."

@@stifledvoice They're doing it because the current management views Splash Mountain as racist. That's why they're replacing it with Princess and the Frog specifically, because it has a black princess. This means that affluent white progressives in the media and on Twitter will go gaga over it and praise it endlessly, even if the ride turns out to be a cheap overlay with a heavy reliance on screens in place of animatronics. Their hope then is that these affluent white people will then be excited and willing to pay Disney's jacked-up prices to attend. That's the market they're chasing after. Meanwhile, low income black families are increasingly less likely to ever see it due to the extreme price hikes that have happened under Iger and Chapek.

Because as far as I’ve heard, there was no talk of taking down the ride until the media & certain organizations started saying the ride was based off a racist movie (the song in the ride really). Great Vlog! I agree that the Splash Mountain at DisneyWorld is so much better than Disneyland version. You can't even compare the two. Disneyland should be changed to Tiana's, that California one is just Bad, it's not maintained it has many spots of empty space,it's just bad and on the other hand DisneyWorld's is awesome

Just gotta say after hearing it so many times.. ack-sess-ory not a-sess-ory. Like, the word access isn't pronounced like the word assess. Anyhoo, moving on. Regarding Splash Mountain, I could not convince my 16 year old daughter to not be a chicken, and ride it, this summer. At least I got my 13 yr old son to ride.

So when the park closes early for a special event, do you still have to pay full price to get in for the day? Because you are missing out on several hours of park time.

I worked Disney Security in 1989. Being a rookie, I was assigned graveyard shift fire watch on Splash Mtn when it was being constructed. For awhile, I climbed all over the ride inside the mtn. Later I went up to the very top, laid down, and slept.

You WDW videos always bring back great memories. My cousin & I were considered old enough at 15 to do our own things together (long before cell phones) while my parents, aunt, and little brother did theirs. We were going by Thunder Mtn after leaving Splash Mtn when we were shocked to see my parents group come out. Somehow they didn't know what kind of ride it was when they got on. They were pale! My cousin and I were laughing so hard

Some people have a problem with the "Song Of The South" film that Splash Mountain is based upon. The Uncle Remus character in the film, played by James Baskett, has been cited by some as being a racial stereotype.

I personally am excited for the change. It's my favorite ride but at the same time it's been the same since day 1 and literally no one has seen songs of the south. My only problem is now the lines will probably double with Princess and the Frog fans but also it probably won't break down nearly as much.

I must say that I do find it ironic that Disney is transforming Splash Mountain from the "Song of the South" theme to "The Princess and the Frog" due to progressive politics. I mean, "Song of the South" had its roots in African American folklore, even if Disney didn't get it quite right. Whereas "The Princess and the Frog" is based on European literature. So Disney is actually erasing the only park attraction that is based on African American folklore. The stupidity of it all.
