One of the few people I've seen that breaks the razor blade in half to use it. It makes it easier to use not to mention safer. I love spinning, stacking and packing deer hair for my Smallmouth bugs. Love the video.

Flattening the stem is a great tip. You could fish just the trailing hook portion and still have a great streamer. Excellent video.

What weight of rod and line would you use to fish that streamer,🇨🇮🇨🇮👍

I bet using buck tail for the head nakes it sink more than with dear body hair right?

What setups would you recommend fishing these flies with from Shore and then from a boat? 6 wt or 8 wf? What line, etc?

Jeff G. I throw these, and a lot of other bigger streamers on an 8wt with a sinking line. Short, 4ft fluoro leader.

man, there are a lot of really good flytyers out there. This video's proof of that.

Hi, in material-list you mentioned bucktail. I don't think you can spin buck to form the head so I assume it must be deer-hair ? As mentioned in the name of the fly !

Edwin Vanderstichele Yes you can, give it a try (better color matching)

View the tail in three zones from tip to base. Normally the tip section is pretty fine, solid hair, the mid hairs have a bit of hollowness, and the base hairs will have more hollow character but still not as much as belly hair.

dang that is one big fly. How big is the fish that takes it?

what is the tool that your using to stack the hair for the head and that you did the knot with? also for the head are you using buck tail, body hair, or belly? it looked like it was still buck tail. i cant get mine to spin and pop up like yours is like it would with body or belly hair, is the some different technique or does it have to do with the quality of the hair?

That is Chad's own design packer. This fly is tied with bucktail.

Really nice looking fly. I just can't use the double hooks. There is a strict limit about how many hooks can be in the water. I don't want to have two on one fly. I bet it would be just as good with the front hook cut off, or a waddington shank. All the best, Sean

I just cut off the front hook and leave the rear. I don't even notice a difference, any trip to BC thems the rules.
