would you perhaps say that one of the biggest misconceptions chugga had about it is that one needs to use it more like a thump gun and not like a common rifle? having the blast radius only count at a certain distance, to me at least, would mean spacing and timing are more key then rushing in and spraying wildly like many blaster/dualies do.
@bracken87822 жыл бұрын
He hasn’t mentioned it yet, but the hero shot (at level 3 especially) is based on a real gun. It’s based on the P-90, and it’s the closest you’ll get to using an actual gun in the splatoon franchise.

As many flaws as the Ranged Blaster itself has, ProChara showed the strengths of the Grim variant rather well here - combined with Burst Bombs it can effectively take out groups of opponents at ranges the other shorter range blasters can't because of both blast damage and movement penalties, and in ways that the other longer ranged blasters can't in the same amount of time while still retaining the one-shot capability. This is on top of it being only one of two blasters to have Tenta Missiles, and the other one is the Clash Blaster Neo - while faster firing, it's not a one-hit kill for starters, and Curling Bomb just isn't as effective as the Burst Bomb in most instances, especially when paired with Tenta Missiles (Curling Bomb can cut off escape routs, but Burst Bomb can do that as well on top of being consistent chip damage combined with the chip damage of Tenta Missiles AND the Ranged Blaster). There really isn't any other weapon in the game that can perform like that.

9:12 actually if you already owned cold blooded equipment then they would turn into Bomb Defense Up DX but if the main ability slot of an equipment piece did that, then you could trade it in at the shop with a version that had Main Power Up. I really love how ProChara plays really aggressive despite it being the "Ranged Blaster." He takes a risky approach to get up in people's faces to hit them point blank and then duck out, making sure he only needs to land one more direct or two chip shots at most in a fight. If not, he either hits a burst bomb, or dives in with one, making sure to capitalize on them. Other than that, he really used the range and whatever positioning he could (though his aim more than enough made up for any position deficit). Very awesome player, certainly seems like a swell guy.

One thing I'll give credit for this weapon, is that since it's lower tier, it's not used as much, so it's more rare to see it. With that being said, players theoretically can get caught off guard with it if there's a player like our homie Chara who's great with the weapon.

Funnily enough, I played in the 2018 UK Championships, and a day or two prior to the event another team was doing some work with the Nintendo UK Community manager, and saw the graphic shown at 8:57 up on his laptop. Obviously, he didn't say what it actually was, so for a day or two before the update was announced by Nogami at the competition there was some speculation behind closed doors that they might be adding an ability fusing mechanic, and that you'd be able to combine any two abilities. Needless to say, we were probably the only people that were actually disappointed when we saw what the actual change was!

4:00 cephalopods (so octopuses and squids) can actually detach their limbs and later regrow them, so I imagine that inkilngs and octolings can do this with ease, and it's also possible that to get a certain 'hairstyle', they possibly trim and grow them in a manner to how we can direct plant growth, such as how some watermelons are put in boxed to grow cube watermelons, or how some chairs are made by growing trees into the shape of chairs (it's real, look it up!)

Couple things 1) I love that we've gotten some pro-players to commentate and show off in these videos. I don't think I've ever seen anyone hang on to the rainmaker that long effectively 2) I imagine you see a lot of random skills with randos online and that the game doesn't really tell you what exactly each skill does. Main Power Up sounds like it should 'power-up' your main weapon. . .meaning more damage. I also think sometimes use full sets just to show off that they have the pieces. 3) I do love that in the casual/mid-tier level of play. . .skill slots don't matter overly much? All skills for the most part help every weapon to some degree. I know personally run a lot of Ink Recovery up and Special Charge Up. I know I need to vary it a little more and look for more Respawn Speed and Swim/Run Speed and actually get a consistent kit down.

So according to the end of yesterday's episode, this weappon is apparently bad. I guess it's time to see how bad it really is. I will say, this is one of the most unmemorable weapon designs ever, which ironically makes it memerable to me. Funny how that works. Not that I actually remember anything about it other than that it exists, but whatever. It's the Range Blaster. Who cares. Kirby! This level's off to a good start. At least he hasn't died by falling yet. I spoke to soon. Also, I like the Gilded Sword. Fight me. Emile should really know by no that whenever he says something is easy, it immedietly blows up in his face. Give me the Ye-haws? Really? I finally have the answer as to why Bomb Defense Dx is called, well,... Bomb Defense Dx. It was merged with another ability. And so a mystery is solved. Huh. That was something I had been wondering for a while. I just thought it was another of Splatoon's quirks. This actually makes sense, though. The reticle is the size of Neptune? Well, I guess it could be worse. It could be the size of Jupiter.

Chugga's view of the razor sword vs gilded sword is how I felt about the ultimate armour in Ratchet and Clank 2. Sure the 2nd-best armour has less defense, but I always kept it because the strongest has an unremovable helmet that covers Ratchet's face, even in cutscenes, so you lose all his expressiveness. Just something to consider: not everyone runs optimized abilities on their gear. Sometimes they're out to grind chunks or are trying to level up gear even if they're willing to risk their rank for a sub-optimal setup. Yes, even now. I actually came back to the game and played again recently and realized I never maxed out every piece of gear (like I did in S1), and that's mostly due to Merch and various types of gear I ordered. And then I get into 'one more game' syndrome not realizing I should switch out maxed gear for something not yet leveled up....

Range Blaster, I remember it being pretty decent in the original game, but it certainly got blasted into oblivion. At least they felt bad and kept burst on the Grim lol. Welp, fun fact time. The returning Sheldon's Picks weapons in Splatoon2 reuse a few assets from Splatoon1. Most obviously their models, however they also use the same icon renders as they did in Splatoon1. You can easily tell on some weapons, such as the Bamboozler Mk3. However, the most obvious is the Heavy Remix, which was not redesigned to be more like the Splatoon 2 redesign of the base, ironically enough it wasnt remixed. Not only does the Remix not have a new model, but the Hero Splatling also uses the same base as the Splatoon 1 Splatling. This is the only weapon which has 2 completely different model bases for the same weapon.

Most of the range blasters that get me tend to be playing the stealth game, coming up behind on a ledge that would be out of range for any other blaster and one-tapping me when im least expecting it. I DEFINITELY think its more for that use case than being in the heat of battle.

Can't blame you for having difficulty finding the stage. It was the last one I personally found in my play through. Regarding the haircuts: I assume those aren't really "haircuts" as such, but merely the inklings/octolings chaining their tentacle shape. Cephalopods even in our world can change their shape drastically, so it stands to reason the denizens of this game could do it to give themselves "hairstyles". My head-canon is that "hairstylists" in this game are just designers/teachers who provide the instructions for specific "hairstyles" for an exorbitant fee.

actually, about the hair thing; squids are one of those animals that can regenerate limbs, like most lizards and their tails. so that’s probably how hair cuts work ! they also don’t really feel pain, not like we do :]

It's so silly that the Hero Shot's evolution just makes it look more and more like an FN P-90. Every gun in Splatoon is some clever amalgam of water soaker, art supply, industrial equipment, whatever - and then there's just an actual, saftey-jacket green P-90 for some reason.

I really like the look of the razor sword and it would be cool if it didn't break so I could use it more, but I prefer the gilded sword myself. I like that you have a cool golden sword and the aesthetic goes really well with the mirror shield.

Chuggaa dunking on the Range Blaster was an excellent way to pump up ProChara to slay with it. Reverse Jinx? Range Blaster is pretty redundant and weak in this game, but the Grim has an excellent kit for a Blaster so I can see it having plenty of situational use which this video did a pretty good job of demonstrating.

4:00 There is an animation or two that addresses that, along with what happens to the hair after it's been cut off.

The difference in movement and Situational awareness in Chugga a pretty good player and Chara a Pro player is still big :D he makes this rather bad Weapon look damn good. Would be interesting to see what he can pull off with a Weapon thats considered excellent.

Off The Hook News Wave Part 28: Sheldon: Salutations fellow Inklings. I'm Sheldon. Annie: And I'm Annie. And this is Off The Hook. Sheldon: Tonight, the new kid brought in a friend name Pro Chara to wield the Range Blaster. Their team played seven rounds of Kelp Dome, and one round of Snapper Canal. Records say they won and lost some games on Kelp Dome, and won on Snapper Canal. Overall, a great showing on both fronts, especially with a sub-par weapon. Annie: In other news, the mystery kid was once again spotted heading into Cephalon HQ. News-squids have tried to send a camera inside, but it was shot upon entry. However, as long as that kid keeps going back in and out, we should have our Great Zapfish back. Sheldon: With that, that's all for today. Remember. Sheldon and Annie: Don't get cooked, stay Off The Hook. *cut* *meanwhile* Beax: Troops, defend the line. Don't let those Octolings get past. Marina, Pearl. This is your chance to run. Marina: What? You're just gonna stay back and take it? Ned: Us Octolings look out for each other. We'll hold them off while you two escape. Marina: Guys, you don't have to fight them, you can... Sally: Marina, listen. You've got a life waiting for you in Inkopolis. We don't. Barbara: This is the life we chose to live, and that's how we'll go down. Marina: Beax. Beax: Yeah? Marina: Promise me. Promise me you'll come back. Beax: ... I promise. *hugs Marina* Now go. Go live your life. Pearl: Come on, my chopper shouldn't be far from here. Marina: Be careful. Beax: We will. *Pearl and Marina run off to the chopper* Unit 67: Boss! Their escaping! Mack: What!? Go after them! Unit 39: But there's still 15 seconds before the area is exco... Mack: I don't care! Stop them! *Mack's troops advance* Beax: Hold the line! Don't let a single one get through! Sally: We're each need to take out about ten. Barbara: Stow your fears, it's now or never. Ned: We'll win this. I know we will. Pearl: It's just over here, hurry! Pilot: What took you so long? Pearl: Shut up, and fly! *helicopter begins taking off* Mack: *pulls out Wii U Gamepad* Perfect. *tap* *Mack's troops stop advancing* Sally: Did they just, stop? *Helicopter gets high in the air* Pilot: Hey, are you seeing this? Pearl: What is that? Marina: Is that, *realization hits* Inkstrike. Inkstrike! *Inkstrike lands on top of Beax's troops* Beax: Brace yourselves! *SPLAT!* *All of Beax's troops collapse from the low-tide Inkstrike* *groaning in pain* Mack: *approaches Beax* All according to plan. Unit 48: Uh, boss? Their still escaping. *Helicopter flies off* Mack: Cod dammit! Where was that second Inkstrike! Unit 15: It's under maintenance. Mack: *face palms* Great. Round up these drifters and take them to Octavio. I have a feeling he'd like to hear of this escapade. Mack's troops: Yes sir. Mack: Just you wait Marina. *puts on shades* I'll be back.

I have an interesting story for Snapper Canal in Rainmaker. I was playing normal ranked and the intro map scene took super long. The other three on my team proofed and 3 on the other team proofed leaving just me and one paintbrush on the other team. We saw each other and both did a “wtf is going on dance”. I grab the rain maker and just run. He painted to my base and back, but I made it just in time to KO. Till this day I have no idea if it was hackers or some freak accident that made a 1v1

The amount of complaints gives off a lot of Chara energy, and its unsurprising given chara's involvement. And just like all range blaster players, including me, we'll play the weapon despite its numerous flaws and procced to complain about it This weapon actively deterorates my mental health and i love it

"An easy Sunken Scroll" This level took me so long, so many tried, because of that sunken scroll. I kept jumping over and either failing to make the jump, getting knocked off by a bowler, or running into some other issue, running out of lives, and having to play the whole level from the beginning again. Screw this level and your "easy" sunken scroll.

F for the Range Blaster, I suppose. Poor thing. I heard it was bad, but wow... It really forces one to play slow, huh? At least the Grim Range Blaster is blessed enough to receive the Burst Bomb which has enough synergy to allow the weapon to actually do something with any flexibility. The quick aiming of pro players just wows me so much. Like that shot at 34:39. Looks around, barely takes even an instant to register that someone's there and just flicks the aim over and already starts turning back before the hit even confirms, and indeed the shot lands directly. It blows me away, tbh.
