You know, Agent 8's victory is probably the only one Inkopolis knows about it. With Agent 3 and 4 it would be pretty easy to hide it. But with Agent 8, they literally took down a giant statue head with the help of two famous popstars. That's pretty hard to cover up. So of course after they defeat Commander Tartar more Octolings are allowed on the surface. I mean, if one of them saved Inkopolis, they can't ALL be bad, right?

i assume it's fairly likely that between splatoon 1 and 2 the stigma against octolings was dying down considering Marina is largely well received by Inkopolis despite being one herself, and 8 defeated Tartar just helped further assert that.

Something I like is when Pearl and Marina harmonize you can hear the differences in their singing skill. It makes sense, and I don’t know if this was intentional, since Pearl is not a singer but she could be learning by listening to Marina

Actually highly likely that it’s the opposite Inklings and octolings have different languages,even japenese has different scripts for them sort of became a thing in the fandom that octolings have “accents” Pearl likely taught Marina how to speak inklish,as we know she’s more the type to make the music it would make more sense for pearl to actually sing it

@@LisaVGG well, its mostly because of not the octaves but the styles. for me, Pearl is more 'upbeat rapper' and her outfit gives me that image. while Marina has more 'K-pop singer' wibe there, with her earphone having that effect. in song, Pearl felt like 'on your face, i am the star here', while marina is there to put pearl to the frontline more, with her more relaxed and smooth voice.
