Undercover Brella is 100% a flexing weapon. It has no business existing as it is and Nintendo seems scared in overbuffing it so they've been doing it in small increments. First they added the refresh mechanic and then they raised the drop-off damage a tiny bit. It's actually the worst Brella; but that's like calling Clash Blaster the worst Blaster. Pretty sure most people know there's straight better Blasters, but it won't stop them. Didn't stop me from using OG Undercover Brella to climb my first X rank either when it didn't have the refresh either (Don't be like me). Either way, it's an underwhelming weapon but you can do really cheeky stuff like swapping damage between you and the shield so neither breaks and you effectively take Ink Armor damage and still survive longer than you should. Birds fly. Squids bag. You'll never see me using an Aerospray. These are truths in our world.

Yes, I agree with all of this. There's so many ways to improve it, but it would be easy to overbuff. If it did more consistent damage (say 30-50 instead of 12-40) or if the shield was slightly bigger or if the fire rate was slightly faster even if you could throw 2 Torpedos at once, it would be much more of a threat. Even if it had max possible damage of 50 instead of 40 then it would be much better. The Undercover Brellas do have a few positives, but the negatives just grossly outweigh them as it stands now. It not impossible to do well with them, but it just places the user at SUCH a disadvantage against most other weapons, that I personally cannot justify using it.

@@CaptainAstronaut Yeah, you're essentially saying, "I don't care about you, I'll do what I want, daaaad" when playing UCB. As it stands, the Undercover series is an okay support weapon more than a slayer because their kits generally support a sub-slayer's playstyle, their inking prowess is actually quite solid and the regular Splat Brella is also more reliable as a slayer once you get the grips down. It's been picking up some popularity for its supportive qualities, but it's still just a downgraded Nzap which sees massively more use. Maybe I'm just too attached to less consistent weapons because it feels more satisfying to make them work. I'll probably live and die with Gloogas, and I'm okay with that. That said, looks like you have quite abit of work ahead of you, with the two packs of weapons AND the small fiesta that is Main Power Up. I wish you luck.

Jr is one of best weapons in the entire game for paint, especially the vanilla, yeah it was made for beginners, but it's actually very, VERY viable in competitive play because not only is it easier to run double splat bomb, you can just spam ink armor.

Undercover brella actually got a damage consistency buff, so if you do 12 damage, it would have to be falloff damage, which you SHOULDN'T BE DOING IN THE FIRST PLACE. Support weapons don't need range to be called support weapons as support can be supporting your aggro players, or your backliners, or just help with beakons/etc, armor spam and good coverage on anything no matter the range just makes it support.

@@cm3635 Pure slander is not the same as criticism. For example, "The Undercover Brella can do as little as 12 damage..." Yeah, you are trying to fight at max range. If you are doing that, you aren't using it effective. It like complaining that the Gal becomes a 3 shot kill after fall off. Also, "The Jr is a training weapon. There are better weapons to use." Though he does acknowledge that the sub and special combo can quickly pop bubbles... then dismisses it because the weapon is bad. The part that he was downplaying as the sole reason why it is used so much. It is literally the zone taker... solo. I won't say they are great weapons, but they aren't as bad as he making them out to be. The Kensa Jr will definitely be meta (like the vanilla Jr.). The Brella is a great addition, and it is good for people who ACTUALLY know how to use the brella (ie not this guy).

If you KNOW you don't understand something you shouldn't be calling shots like this in first place. It's a bad influence on the new and casual scene cause some people actually believe these guides. Like yeah he's half joking but if that's the case make it more obvious with some kind of disclaimer or admit that you don't understand a weapon enough for a full judgment on it.

Luna blasters really depend on the map. They do great with MPU too. I like the Kensa one just because Fizzies are good for trails (at least consideribg the Luna's less than trash range).

Honestly, the best advice for using the Torpedo successfully is to not always throw it straight at people's faces. Since it's really easy to shut down, a lot of shooters and other fast weapons can just mildly flick their reticle to dispose of it. (However, if an enemy's using something slow like a Dynamo or a Charger, it's actually really inconvenient for them to take any of their shots away from players. Spam it. Harass them. Single them out for your team.) The Torpedo's strongest use is as your own little automated flanking buddy. If you try to throw it so that it locks onto enemies from their sides, above or behind, it's going to be a much harder distraction for them to deal with. Either they look away from you and try to destroy it while you rush them down, or they just let it explode on them while keeping their fire on you. It's great for flushing people from behind cover; just throw around one side and run around the other. I've gotten 20 kills on an S+ Clam Blitz game with the Kensa Jr., so something must be working out for that kit. And naturally, the fact that it's a Point Sensor with teeth is helpful too. It can sniff enemies out like Autobomb, except it locks on faster and also briefly puts a marker on them. Useful since both the Jr. and Undercover are so short-range that they always have to be pushing into enemy territory.

The regular undercover weapon is my favorite for the sub and special kit. The shield is small, but when you have atk power ups equipped, it comes back in practically no time at all. I litter the map with splat mines and avoid attention with ninja squid (except during splatfests, since you can't equip shirts during that time)

As an undercover main, and a big fan of this channel, Jesus man, who hurt you? Regardless the weapon isn't the meta defining powerhouse others are. But what it does offer (when you're using the right kit, otherwise known as the Sorella) is essentially a frontline shooter that trades power and fire rate for a safety net. While yes when you only sour spot, 8 hit or more kills. But when you actually hit your target, the kill speed isn't actually that terrible, and having an instant shield refresh when you splat a foe lets you keep riding the wave and unlike most brellas, not defenseless between kills. And not to mention, at no point is the Undercover a sitting duck. It never has to just sit there, waiting for the shield to shoot or put the shield away to shoot, which is what drew me to the weapon. I love the concept of brellas, but I don't like having to give up firing to protect myself. All I can say is that the Undercover deserves buffs. It's the most unique brella and it either needs a stronger shield or a stronger gun, maybe both.

I know you said this in your video but: The Undercover isn't bad; you're just bad with it. It's like saying chargers are bad because you can't aim. The Undercover Brella wasn't built for power, but that doesn't mean that it's a terrible weapon. That's kinda like saying that a soccer player isn't good at basketball, so they're a bad player. Undercover is more of a "sneaky" weapon using its sub to deal extra damage or to stun/trap opponents. Ink Mines obviously do this because 45 + 2 directs = Dead, and Torpedo forces the opponent to shoot at it or basically let you get a turf advantage and them to die. I'd say that the Undercover is like an assassin that supports their team. Ya know as a brella main. I never really liked the undercover brella. Until I got the Kensa uc brella. It had a surprisingly fun kit. Despite me not really being into ink armor and torpedoes. But this brella does make it work, and as a rank player l still do occasionally see it. While not as often as the kensa splattershot or any sniper. But it's nice to see more underrated weapons being used.

Yikes. So harsh on one of my mains. I usually get the most splats on my team with the Kensa undercover brella (X-Rank). 11, 14, 18, 16, per match. I'm a brella main, though. I use it on splat zones and completely wreck people. If I'm holding a position, I often take out two opponents at a time. The falloff damage is absolute buttcheeks, but the torpedo is a big help. Btw, the minimum damage is actually 7.5 per hit but glancing blows usually do from 8.7 to 17 percent (I've done a lot of lab work). The sub and special get a ton of assists and the mobility and ink coverage is great. It's my favorite undercover and maybe my favorite brella too because I can actually splat the other team and apply pressure effectively.

As a Kensa Octobrush main I would not call it mediocre. It depends on the player. I played with short range weapons on splatoon 1 and the longest range I really used was an n zap (89) or a carbon roller. I’m used to short range weapons. Plus suction bomb is my favorite sub and ultra stamp is my favorite special so it works well for me.

Lv. 43 Vanilla Splattershot Jr. main. The main weapon may not be the best in combat, but its INCREDIBLY ink efficient making it one of the best painters in the game. Also the big Ink tank makes it better at throwing a lot bombs, and spamming bombs is a lot of fun and quite effective. Plus its a light weight weapon. But I will agree that giving the Jr. a sub that can't be thrown twice to be quite befalling.

imo your being a bit too harsh on the jr and the undercover brella. yes they are worse than a lot of other weapons in the game but the jr with bubbles can be really good support to spam bubbles pretty consistently, and the undercover brella has ok killing potential and is also a good support weapon due to ink armor and the weapons good painting. I know that it isn’t the best, and there may be better options out there; but if you are accurate and committed this weapon can serve u well. Tbh kensa undercover brella is great for pushes, especially early in the game. Use opening gambit or a speed boosting ability to get to mid, use the torpedoes to scout if you're not sure where anyone is (not necessary but helpful if you're going after a sniper or another anchor) and by the time you get to mid you have ink armor, which will help your team more than hurt them since a) they have a little extra cover during the first 1v1s of the match and b) ink armor's high visibility won't expose anyone since everyone already has an idea of where everyone is anyway. After that it's a matter of holding the line. Clam Blitz and Tower Control are the only two modes where having the undercover brella would be more of a hindrance than anything, and to be fair they are the more kill focused modes. I just realized something about the kit of the Kensa Octobrush. When you charge up the special, you flick it a bunch so there's a flurry of ink the enemies can't go through, and then you throw bombs and stuff. When you use the special, it's the same thing. A bunch of ink in front of you the enemies can't go through and throwing the stamp as well.

Undercover Brella The fact of how you're only talking about the cons, is the reason you think its bad. Undercover Brella is a great turfer, can get armor quickly, and can fire topedoes to distract opponents, kinda. You only speak about how Undercover can't get kills, when it shouldn't be focused on kills. Its a support weapon, it should be inking up turf to give team armor. I would go more in depth, but this is what I'll say for now. L-3 The only thing I will say about this is that Splash walll helps you be more accurate. I'm not good with this weapon, and I personally think this is a bad weapon imo. Octobrush Now for being a octobrush main, I can say you missed a lot in this brief explaination. Yes, Octobrush is very short range, but its radius is huge, especially compared to roller or ttek.When you approach people or when they approach you, its nearly impossible getting out of the radius, basically forcing a kill or a trade. This fact alone seperates Octobrush from every single slayer in the game. Hammer Meh special imo. Its good for pushing and a great distraction, but thats about it. Just because the weapon is meant for beginners doesn't mean it's bad. Mario is meant for beginners in smash 4, Ryu is meant for beginners in Street Fighter, but both of them are good characters. It's not what the weapon was designed for but how it performs, and Splattershot Jr. has good ink spread, and pretty good kill power

when he said "an LG Pikachu out of an LG Eevee" I immediately subbed because not only is eevee cuter, but also an objectively better choice as a starter in Kanto - Pikachu is in Viridian forest, so you have more PokéDex options. You'd have that advantage EVEN MORE if you COULD evolve a Partner Form. Even considering that you can't, Eevee gets better special moves, adn has ever so slightly better stats (BST is 5 points higher than Pikachu, on both forms).

Kensa Undercover Brella is fairly neat imo. Throwing torpedo snuffs out enemies and prevents sharking/flanks, Throwing it behind opponents gives you time to get in and get your kill if they turn around to shoot it down, or a 1/2 shot kill if it hits. It also distracts backliners, meaning that you can temporarily invalidate chargers as they waste a shot. The shield lets you survive tons of shit like charger shots, and gives you a longer time to live, so you can be a lil pest in the backlines of the enemy team. Ink Armour just makes your entire team generally safer and better at pushes. It's a fun kit with a unique set of strengths, even if it's not the fastest killer (not horrible at pvp tho because they can't kill you that fast either)

I agree with you on the fact that the Undercover Brella isn’t the best, but there are a few advantages which you didn’t mention. First, it has the fastest strafing speed in the game. If you bump into someone with your shield, you actually do damage, so if you go into someone, open your shield in their face and shoot twice, you get a kill. Also the set with the ink mines is actually a good combo, since the mines do damage to them beforehand. Also, it can be good for taking down chargers, since usually if they’re charging they have time to shoot you once before you finish them off, while in the case of the Undercover, you can tank one full hit and have enough time to kill them. The regular one, with the Splashdown, makes way for a pretty good combo: since your brella regens so fast, usually a splashdown time is enough for it to come back. So then, you can Splashdown, disorientate your opponent and then appear right in front of them with your shield in their face. Also, you say it’s bad at 1v1’s, but it’s actually good, since you have almost twice as much HP as them. Also, it allows you to retreat with full health is your shield is broken

As someone who likes using tons of different weapons (From Flingza to Luna Blaster Neo to Jet Squelcher), I think it's fine to use the Kensa Undercover Brella or "KUB" for short. While I haven't used it yet, from my experience of facing it is quite good at standing ground when getting support from enemy players, since the shield can hold it's own from splash related damage and still pester other front liners.

Jr is actually a good weapon. Vanilla can spam Armor and can terrorize Chargers with Splat Bombs. It’s a support weapon, which is weird, since it has the range of a slayer. But, it gets a lot of assists.

I play undercover brella like carbon. You need to be stealthy with it. The shield/ special of the brella helps for a safe retreat. The sub helps when your sneaking up on someone to either use the torpedo to kill them or get early damage.

Little late, but KUnder isn't as bad as all that. Yes, the main weapon is garbage. This is why KUnder's *true* main weapon is the torpedo. KUCB/KUnder is purely about the kit, and its gameplay is 90% torpedo spam. Tips: 1) Do not ever go solo as KUnder; you will die. Instead, as with most brellas, be someone's wingman. Use the torpedo to distract your opponent, or to herd them into your teammate's shots. 2) Use a main of sub saver; it'll let you throw another torpedo as soon as the first one is shot down or explodes. You want to throw two torpedoes before refilling your ink tank, not one. 3) Use Special Charge Up, as you said. Ink Armor will serve your team well. 4) Only use the shield when already getting shot at. Otherwise, repeatedly tap the fire button. You'll get nearly the same fire rate without the giant Kick Me sign. It's not a bad weapon, but you won't get much glory while using it. You are Luke Skywalker's wingmate, not Luke himself.

I hardly see anyone talking about the Kensa Nozzlenose, which kinda sucks. The nice thing about the Nozzlenose is that it is very ink efficient, firing a total of 100 shots (33.3 taps of the ZR buttons) without any efficency. Placing down a Splash Wall still gives you 40 shots to work with, which is pretty nice to push in without having to refill. Plus, it also inks a lot more than you might think at first, meaning that it also can charge up Ultra Stamp very quickly, which I think is a very fun special. Overall, I think the Kensa Nozzlenose is a pretty decent weapon once you get used the triple shot, though, I can see why other people prefer the Nozzlenose-D.

The undercover brella sucks on its own as a slayer weapon but I think it has a different role. My guess is undercover brella is a sort of suppression tool which is why it has torpedoes and ink armor to overwhelm the opposing team in team fights or give away enemy positions to teammates with torpedoes. Maybe tower control and splat zones is where this brella could excel because of torpedoes for spamming on tower/zone and ink armor for team pushes. Also ink armor plus literally any other special (except maybe splashdown) is great for pushing. (I have never seen this strategy be used effectively though its just a assumption)

Undercover Kensa Brella: The Weapon which is almost pure support. You're KD will look great, but 19 of your 25 "kills" will be assists. That's not bad, but its not the most efficient. If you want kills, Strafing is a must. Its kit helps out alot, with it being the fastest Ink Armor weapon in the game, and the torpedo allowing a potential one-shot. HOWEVER. It's minimum fall off is actually SEVEN DAMAGE. Not 12. As said, strafing is NEEDED for you to be able to use this efficiently. Torpedo is still good to use, but you have to be smart with it. Of all the Kensa Weapons that got a buff in 4.2, The Undercover needed it the most. BUT NOPE. BUFF THE OCTOBRUSH'S PAINTING MORE. NOT LIKE INKBRUSH EXISTS AHAHAHAHAH (Nintendo loves cucking over some weapons. Especially Cucking the Bamboozler with Squiffer) Edit: Holy shit people are pissed about you calling the KUC bad. I always dismissed the L-3 like you did since it would require one to constantly tap to fire and also cannot 3-hit kill as H-3, but when I gave it a shot ( or three burst shots ;P) I found myself doing pretty well with it. The fact that I have to tap every burst allows me a short time frame to re-adjust my aim. This apparently works out better than trying to aim while shooting an automatic one for me. It might just be my terrible aiming skills, but still, I hope people at least try out the L-3. Its quite fun! (especially the kensa L-3)

I would say the Splattershot Jr series is best in Turf War/Splatfests. They may not be the greatest for combat but oh boy can they put A LOT of ink on the ground really fast. My favorite one is the Custom Splattershot Jr. I’ve gotten a lot of wins with it in Splatfests. The Ink Storm is useful for pushing into enemy territory and the Auto Bombs can annoy opponents and kill them if their not paying attention. Unfortunately it’s not perfect in combat. You usually have to get close to your opponent to kill them but once your there your more than likely to win due to your crazy fire rate.

No, objectively speaking, Undercover Brella IS the worst Brella archetype. The regular Splat Brella is amazing as a backup Slayer (Or even true Slayer if you're confident in your shots), and the Tenta Brella is a valuable anchor that requires patience but rewards those who pace themselves. Best I can give Undercover Brella is that it's like a worse NZap. Not that it stops me from rolling around with all three in Ranked, though.

A couple recommendations. You should consider discussing what maps and modes a weapon is strong/weak on, as many of them are dependent on that (example: 52 gal deco is excellent on port and walleye). Also, suggest a few team comps that complement a weapon and help it shine. We really need to get people out of the mentality that it's just about the weapon alone, when it's really about fitting that weapon into a greater whole.
