I love the fact that "happy little workers" is his main theme/leitmotif and how it's re-contextualized each time we hear it played differently. One of the few things I particularly like about the campaign.

When we first hear Happy Little Workers, we think it's just a song that shows how shady the company is, but not much else. In Splatoon 3, not only does it become different in Salmon Run, being a bit less cohesive, but its use in the rocket intermission ambience (which is so creepy) is the perfect foreshadowing for the big reveal of Mr Grizz himself. The moment of realization that it is truly his theme was a great moment and daresay one of the best parts of the whole Splatoon story

For those who don't know, in a Splatoon 2 developer interview, it was claimed that Mr. Grizz isn't actually watching any of the Salmon Run matches, or speaking through the radio, and it's all just pre- reccorded. For a while, until Splatoon 3, we weren't even certain that 'Mr. Grizz' was a real person, and it was a real possibility that he was just a corporate mascot. His dialogue in the story mode honestly more so matches his was of speaking in the original japanese release, as he was changed in localization to be much more gruff and mean - in Japan, he speaks in a very flowery and kind way to his employees, to a suspicious degree, since that is how they expect a boss you shouldn't really trust to act - and for English speaking countries a boss that yells and hates unions just makes more sense, much closer to our depiction of an untrustworthy boss. Through you can see them trying to backpeddle on this decision a little with his newer lines, like thanking everyone for doing overtime after a Cohozuna wave. Honestly, it's highly likely that Mr. Grizz was the only real person in charge at Grizzco. Aside from the part timers he hires to go out and collect eggs, and Goldie, who hands out bonuses, of course. Mr. Grizz mentions he does his own accounting during a tornado wave, after all. But, since all his lines are prerecorded, it's very likely that Grizzco will continue on without him potentially forever, all the Golden Eggs going toward nothing. How tragic. But honestly, this was awesome, as someone who's being following the lore of this series from the start. Mr. Grizz being the main antagonist was something everyone in the lore community saw coming, with just how suspicious and mysterious Grizzco and their motives were, his creepy laugh, what exactly golden eggs were for (and a shot in the trailer of the rocket being stuffed full of power and golden eggs), the 2020 new year salmon run image (which spelled out 'Save Our Salmons' in the water's reflection below), our Smallfry Lil' Buddy existing at all, and the Ruins of Arc Polaris (the star Polaris existing in the Ursa Minor constellation, btw) which has multiple bear warning signs and bear footprints in the mud. It was safe to say that Mr. Grizz was going to make an appearance (though whether or not he was literally a bear was a guessing game).

I really wish they kept his personality in the story mode more mean and gruff. I always imagined him like a Gruncle Stan type con artist and he’s too sterile in the story. I especially dislike his lack of facial animations. He just conveys no emotion. I felt like he was more expressive in the salmon run radio through his gruff dialogue.

@@kirbstomp1338 I mean, Grizz has access to advanced ancient human tech and is apparently good at kidnapping Octarians, so setting up the initial equipment and infrastructure for his business would arguably be the easy part. The main challenge would be getting the initial cash to hire the first set of suckers, and well, he might have just hired people who were willing to wait until he turned a profit to get paid (exploiting suckers is his main business model, after all), or just counterfeited the cash (advanced ancient tech to the rescue again) until Grizzco started turning a profit. Makes me wonder if Grizz had other more low-key front businesses he used to provide start-up funds for Grizzco. That said, the *real* answer is probably that Splatoon lore has *never* been meant to be taken too seriously.

I think my favorite thing about this phase is we hear this super hero like music throughout the levels of Hero mode and it comes back full force in opposition to Happy Little Workers. The musical story telling in Splatoon is top notch but it shines so well here.

everything leading up to the fight, The foreshadowing in both Splatoon 2 and 3, The insane difficulty spike from any Octavio fight to the Grizz fight. it all makes Mr. Grizz feel like the true final boss of the Splatoon series.

i mean its pretty sad if you think about his perspective, because not only was the world he returned to completely transformed, but everyone he ever loved or knew had perished. I truly think mr grizz didn't have ill intent with his plan but obviously it was a terrible one. He was gonna hurt so many people in the process because he wanted to see life return to how it was so terribly. I swear somewhere around 1:08 to 1:12 I heard Lil' Buddy. It might be him considering this is Mr. Grizz we're fighting here so it's gotta be salmon run themed. As well as the Happy Little Workers leifmotif too. It's basically Grizzco's signature song. If it ain't Smallfry then it might be a different smallfry, since it sounded too much like him. I just thought I'd share this cause I swear I heard him multiple times. This boss OST is awesome though. Glad to see the Happy Little Workers part come back. Still sad I wasn't able to hear it ingame though, I was busy with school work at the time of me playing the final boss. (Edit): I just heard LIl' Buddy again, but in a different part, as if he remembers this theme from Grizzco and he's singing it as a backup vocal because he's remembering that song. Could definitely be wrong though. And I know barely anything since I just got Splatoon in January.

@@rr53213rr I do love the dialogue, it's the design of the boss that put me off. The stage is also just a straight rotating platform. Would've liked a more active and intense fight instead of just swim up to him and shoot.
