Ime 5153 amps are highly overrated. It's not that they sound bad, just not as good as legendary amps like SLO, and great small operations like Splawn. The EVH tend to have that sorta pedal like feeling and overly compressed sound I just don't like
@mcnabb1975 Жыл бұрын
@Fabrizio Donadelli oddly enough a little while after I posted this I stumbled on a great deal for a 5153 Stealth and can say it's by far better than the og 5153. Better mids and through the Splawn cab it's very open and musical. I kept the Splawn, still have the SLO and 5153, plus bought a Mesa Mark V 90 and thinking I'm about to snag an Orange Rockerverb. I actually went to Splawn in Dallas NC on our way back to florida from the mountains to pick up my custom made Nitro. I have owned 3 Splawns. The only thing I couldn’t get past was the non midi and weird footswitch cabling. I couldn’t make it work with my midi set up so I went with an EVH 5150 III 50 watt for live. The best Splawns are the ones with Heybooer trannys. Huge tone difference from the newer ones. The other issue was the lack of volume taper options. It went from mouse fart to kill the neighbors cat 5 houses away with nothing in between. Killer amps and Scott is a great person.
