Things I learn: -808s is a melody not a kick. Treat them as a melody instrument - make 808s 2 octave higher once its done put it down 2 octave so it will be easier to hear and be precise about the 808s note -808s & kicks should communicate each other -use 808s glides, pitch down to spice up (808s always mono not stereo) - add distortion to spice up 808s Etc (Feel free to add below what y/n learn so we all could learn more together)🙏
@21redsox214 жыл бұрын
Loudness does not always equate to being more noticeable. If that makes sense. Sometimes turning the 808 down a bit makes it sit much better and hit harder since the rest of the mix can breathe with it

That trick to see multiple clips' MIDI notes in Ableton changed my life
@yvangelist5684 жыл бұрын
Is this possible in Logic Pro X?
@Gainsforlife4 жыл бұрын
Yvangelist yes you must highlight all audio regions you wish to view. Then open the piano roll under view tab in top left hit the drop down and show note by region instead of the showing note by velocity. This will show multiple midi info based off the color of the region.

As long as the 808 is tuned and in scale, would it be fine? Most of the time my 808 is melodic anyways.
@djvne4 жыл бұрын
Graut yes exactly right. i found once you put youre 808 in key and on scale it automatically makes the song sound better no matter what pattern you use. this is music not science. if it sounds good it sounds good

@CITYDAGR84 жыл бұрын
8:30 not necessarily I leave mine on I like to hear my 808 notes. So I leave mine on port and set it to 133ms and set it to one voice. But it really don’t matter depending on your release time so you’ll hear glide sound when your notes are legato ✌🏾

isnt portamento the thing where u slide directly from a note to another, where glide is that he plays the notes inbetween start and endnote?
@nickthechen4 жыл бұрын
3typen It depends on the DAW, but in Ableton portamento will slide directly from one note to the other (but both notes will sound at the same time). Glide slides from one note to the other (based off of the end of the note) but only one voice can sound at the same time (monophonic)
@Ph423b00k4 жыл бұрын
@@nickthechen thank you. musically it has nothing to do with polyphony. If you have a Hardwaresynth like Roland Jupiter 6 or something with Portamento and Glide/Glissando you clearly can listen the difference
