Is there any need for stitched wiping at the transition after this is complete?

there isn't any need, it's very secure due to splicing the ends back in separately!

Nice Video. Very good work. I have a halyard for my main sail which slips through the clamp. So I will try to cover the halyard in this part. Which kind of rope should I use? Another halyard cover, so sheet cover or pure Dyneema or the cover of a mooring rope? Thanks.

Pure Dyneema is although ressistant against wear and tear, very smooth so the clutch will slip. The best option is to use a aramid fiber cover like TN-coverwww.premiumropes.com/technora-cover These are extremely ressisant to abrassion

when to use this and when to use the 10.1 video tecnique? Thanks!
@Premiumropes Жыл бұрын
Both techniques are pretty similar. The 10.1 is quicker would the technique in this video more lean and flexible

@@Premiumropes Thanks! Will the cover spliced according 10.1 hold as well in a clutch?
@Premiumropes Жыл бұрын
@@madario the technique yes, But make sure you don't use a Dyneema cover in a Clutch but a Technora cover.

Do you need to do it on both sides?
@Premiumropes8 жыл бұрын
Yes this is required on both sides. You can also pull through the entire cover at once but with larger diameters this will become a little bumpy.

Would you recommend doing this at the eye splice end of a spin halyard to prevent halyard block/shiv wear? if so, would you prefeed the cover prior to doing the eye splice, or is there a way to integrate the cover into the eye splice?
@Premiumropes8 жыл бұрын
D-Cover is often used on a tapered spi halyard as proctection. If not tapered I would recommend to remove the original cover for about 1m, 1,5 . Prefeeding would make the splice very stiff.
@maurograndone2514 жыл бұрын
@@Premiumropes in this case, the original cover must be put into the core as for a normal tapering and then the dyneema cover is used to cover the tapered part from the shackle up to overlapping with the original cover?

Now spend another hour and burry the other side haha. That is to much trouble
