@@CamperN00b47 The fact that the sonar and night vision modes are better in SvM then the main game is sad AF. SC Blacklist had a slew of gadgets & other gear at your disposal. Especially different kinds of goggles. The goggles that are presented only just for a few seconds in this video look amazing. This heavily implies that he was tapping the analog stick forward ever so often and not holding it down slightly. And yes, that's was if you were in dim enough light, but this is broad daylight and he clearly wasn't too hard to see.

Well, for one, there is only one set crouch walking speed, if you notice as the player was sneaking past the guard before climbing the cliff, he simply kept tapping the stick. In the older games, one could slowly creep forward rather than doing little jittery movements to advance quietly. Secondly the enemies clearly saw Sam several times yet forgot about him 2 seconds later. If this were CT, they would have at least gone "what was that?" and went to check it out.

Even the first mission forces you into a gun battle at the end with Kobin's thugs. The fight at the end of White Box, even Third Echelon HQ has an over the top gun rush accompanied by a Die Hard explosion. I'm well aware that it's possible to go through those missions and stealthily take out enemies, but that isn't exactly what the original games were about. Splinter Cell was always about remaining completely undetected. For example, you can complete Chaos Theory and only kill 2 guys throughout.
@hardwoodhead12 жыл бұрын
Yes, it could also mean that, however it was the fact that he did it repeatedly that leads me to my assumption. Also, the difficulty you are on most likely has an effect on that as well.
@Lb806812 жыл бұрын

Chaos Theory 2nd mission on the ship. You can quickly wait for the guy at the bottom of the steps to the left to walk away (very slowly as alway) and jump up between giant semitruck looking crates and move past all 4 guards. You dont have to do this but to people complaining about the cliff part... bypassing enemy paths are around a lot if you spot them in each game. This is like a first level where they are easier to find. Even conviction did a great job of throwing in alot of routes to sneak

Don't get me wrong- I'll be one of the first to express my frustration at what happened to the series. I would have been roughly 10 times happier if they had just made this a new IP and left the old splinter cell up for grabs by some company that cared a little more. But I can't say blacklist looks bad. Because it doesn't. It's not a splinter cell game, but it does look like a solid *game*. At least they tried to make some of us vets happy with nonlethal and body dragging.
@kornflakes8912 жыл бұрын
Stealth is what exactly? Avoiding detection using any means available, climbing alongside a cliff is a means to avoid detection, therefor, it's stealth. And don't forget, even the older games had you hugging walls to avoid light, and often going around some areas to avoid the enemies, it's not all that different.
@ElCabron88912 жыл бұрын
Agreed. To be fair, this game looks amazing. I like the fresh, new changes they've made and how they've blended Conviction and the older games, no matter how dumb the AI are, or how bright the daytime is. If Ironside were there, it would be perfect.
@splintcell2212 жыл бұрын
Before you get your panties into a twist. This is pre-alpha. There will be a variety of night missions. There will be an option for a slower climbing pace. Having cover is a good mechanic. The A.I is till in programming stage. And the sonar vision is optional.
@tinyraptor11 жыл бұрын
Chaos Theory excels with tension (PT and original also had good tension). In Conviction all that tension flew out the window with the abilities/mechanics they put in. Blacklist just looks like a beefed up Conviction with old gadgets added in to try to say, "See? We're like the originals again!" But really, that doesn't matter, because the mechanics and play styles from Conviction will still be there. All tension will be mitigated when you know you can adapt to an Assault playstyle at any time.

No, I don't know much about the "internal workings of computers" whatever that has to do with this. I do however expect enemies to have peripheral vision greater than 45° and dogs to have excellent hearing and sense of smell in a video showcasing the supposed stealth aspects of a game.

Yes you were, in CT if you just rambo'd the place up and made a shit load of noise, then guards got better equipment, and even fortified their positions and waited for you. Plus the damage Sam could take before dying was minimal, showing that a non stealth play through was not the way to go.

Stealth has no weight when it isn't a necessity. That's what made Chaos Theory and games like Thief so good. If you got caught, you were pretty much guaranteed to be dead, sure, you could fight your way out, but it'd be with a sliver of health left. Now if you get detected you can just kill everyone without a second thought. Also there's the fact that the stealth for this is literally just another route that's out of the way of enemies.

AC was a stealth game actually, if you're clever enough to plan out your assassination without alerting the guards. In the first assassins creed, what you said was true about it in the end it's a run away and find a hiding spot. Sometimes of course the main targets assassination that would affect the main story line, they intentionally place tons of guards there, and leave you to free run away from them, but the others, it is possible to kill without alerting guards (poisoning, shooting etc).

To be fair, you could sort of do that in the earlier SPs if you turned the difficulty down, and as for Conviction, sure you could go in run and gun but that was a really bad idea on higher difficulty levels. Though I do agree with you, I don't think you realize that Ubi is doing this to make the genre more accessible to new players. At the very least they aren't pulling a Conviction where it forces you to kill everyone, least you can now do things the quiet way.

Neither are night vision goggles that work in total darkness, something they can't do because they need at least a small amount of light because they amplify existing light a couple hundred times. Your point?
@CYSADProductions12 жыл бұрын
but the biggest question is: What is the benefit to being stealthy? I mean besides the less of a chance of dying. That's one thing I think killed Conviction was the lack of a reason to be stealthy. You could go in guns blazing and have no regrets. I feel like they should at least make one downside for each style of play, like maybe there's less frequent checkpoints or whatever, so if you die it's a long way back, but stealth is more difficult (e.g. bring back the light and sound monitors). Idk.

When you have strength, use it. When you don't, use stealth. The whole reason why Fisher sneaks in Splinter Cell to begin with is that he is always outnumbered. Being able to "kill in motion" (go guns blazing) defeats the purpose of it being a stealth game.
@skytop08211 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I like how you can skirt the edges of the map and just avoid everyone. Because, Stealth isn't about patience, timing, and learning your environment to discover the best path. It's about having a convenient passage that is completely out of every single guard's line of sight. All you have to do is crouch down, move forward, maybe interact with a ledge, a rope, or a vent shaft. Christ, am I the only one who remembers the days when you had to watch your darkness and noise meter?

the availability of choice is what I love about this game, conviction and others like dishonored (which heaps of people actually hated) the fact you can go in guns blazing - the developers have catered to that and made gameplay amazing in games like conviction (I tried doing this in previous splinter cell games and obviously you probably know you can't) but then after a while I liked going in sneaky, and that element is also good too, which is what makes the new splinter cell games amazing

I think Blacklist will combine the best elements of Conviction (the cover system, the action and animations) with the best of the older games (mainly their story and stealth element). I wish people would stop complaining. The series needed to evolve. The new voice actor for Sam was coached by Michael Ironside for the role. That's good enough for me. Sam doesn't look younger. He probably trained harder and got into better shape now that he's back on the job since SC:Conviction
