The twist at the end of Split was that it was connected to Unbreakable. They never even hinted there was a connection during the marketing. The music was what gave it away. One of the best theater experiences of my life.

They definitely did not market it as a sequel to Unbreakable. An absolute banger move!!

James MacAvoy was so brilliant in this. I felt he deserved way more recognition in the role. Anya was also captivating 😊

When it came out we didn't know it was an Unbreakable sequel. We just were enamored with the brilliant acting by James McAvoy, and when watching this movie, enjoyed it genuinely until we started hearing the Unbreakable theme and thought "WAIT WHAT?" and then when Bruce Willis is actually sitting there, it was basically one of the best twists in history

I know he had a lot of roles but he put his whole heart into this performance, every time he changed to another personality I got goosebumps EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

No, we didn't know, not until the end. Then we realise Kevin's dad was killed on the train that crashed in Unbreakable. It was great and a fantastic twist as usual. The dance Hedwig does is great. It's about a guy who's shot dead and comes back as a zombie. I think it's fantastic, the legs in the air gets me everytime 😂

Oh yes! Someone mentioned the train thing to me on Patreon. Very cool how they connected the movies like that.

Bit of a dick move spoiling the reveal that happens in Glass, of Kevin's dad dying on the same train in Unbreakable.
@apkelly01Ай бұрын
@Raven_Luna_Tick I haven't seen Glass. It's obvious in Split his dad was killed on the train. Before he becomes the beast, he lays flowers on the platform.

It's a nice touch that when he's the kid (Hedwig) he can't push the door open in the beginning with two of the girls holding it, but easily forces it open when he's the grown man with OCD (Dennis).

McAvoy's performance in Split and Glass are so incredible, but it will for a good long while be underrated, largely in part to this simply being a Shyamalan film. This movie is favorably regarded, but even so McAvoy is on another level with this one.

Nope, there was no mention or reference to Unbreakable until that twist right at the end! James McAvoy is outstanding in this movie.

I remember watching this for the first time a year or two after it came out,having no clue it was connected. I was with a group of friends and as they started talking about the guy in the wheelchair it dawned on me. The gasp I gusped even before Bruce Willis shows up had all my friends looking at me crazy. I was MIND BLOWN! Edit: Also, whenever I do something stupid when I was drunk I say to myself. "That wasn't me, that was Patricia." xDD

It was a total secret! Though looking back at the poster, I totally should have known going in. Though when I saw it in the cinema I was the only one that audibly gasped when it name dropped Mr. Glass and showed David Dunn at that diner. I wish I could watch it again for the first time without knowing again.

When this came out in the theater, we had no clue it was a secret sequel to Unbreakable. They didn't market it that way AT ALL. I will never forget the feeling I experienced when I heard the Unbreakable theme coming in at the end and then when Bruce Willis showed up, I almost fell out of my theater seat! The coolest reveal ever!

When I saw this, I had never heard of Unbreakable or anything about it. I watched it over and over thinking how could not been nominated for an Oscar. This is a master class in acting! The only thing is, it just reminded me too much of Sally Field in Sybil (1976.) She was dead solid perfect in that role. No one really knew she had that kind of range. She deserved all the awards and praise she got for playing that role. I feel the same about James in this film.

We watched this without ever seeing Unbreakable so the ending confused the heck out of us. When I looked it up and found out we went back to watch Unbreakable afterward lol This was my first Anya-Taylor Joy film and I love her in this. And it goes without saying James McAvoy = whole body shivers watching him in this.

I love this movie. I know there a lot of people in the community with mental health issues who did not like this film and believed it caused more damage by romanticizing trauma and mental disorders as being "more than".....but I really liked the way they wrote that & James McAvoy's performance? Standing ovation. Phenominal actor. Looking forward to seeing him in Speak No Evil. I think he'll play a great villain.

@henryk57232 ай бұрын
As far as I remember, they never marketed it as a sequel. That was also very clever because it is not really a sequel. Of course there is a connection, but the film works on its own. Also, the time gap between the two movies is way too big.
@phj2232 ай бұрын
Movie recommendation: Shot Caller (2017) starring among many others Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister you know) and Jon Bernthal. Family man Nikolaj makes a mistake and winds up in California state prison, and once inside it's sink or swim. Movie opens with him being released after his time is up, and we follow his struggle as he tries to complete one last deal he can't back out of, and his time is prison and what put him there is told in flashbacks. It had me riveted like very few movies manage these days, the one that came close would be Sicario (2015). Stellar performances and an absolutely haunting score.

The great thing about "Split" is that just as some viewers were ready to dismiss the film for its wild third act, the "Unbreakable" music started playing, and Bruce Willis appeared at the end, which drove the audience wild and that was the twist that it was part of the “Unbreakable” universe.

This movie - though I love Jame McAvoy, was written to give DID a VERY bad image. It also says things about it that arent true. It is not possible for a fronting alter to give the body temporary diabetes, for example.

Unbreakable and Split are great films. Mr. Glass, even though the acting is good, is a waste of time; it’s terrible and full of plot holes, terrible dialogue, ending, etc. Sad that the trilogy couldn't be all great films. And the film wasn't marketed as being connected to Unbreakable; no one knew; that's why it was a twist when Bruce Willis showed up at the end.
