I’ve said it before and I’m gonna say it again…James McAvoy was robbed of the Oscar for this role 😐😐😌

I saw this in the theater and was already a big fan of Unbreakable, which came out 16 years before this movie. Split was not marketed as part of the Unbreakable "universe" initially - it was just another Shyamalan movie as far as we knew. The big twist for us at the end was the connection to Unbreakable. Literally gasped and nearly jumped out of my seat cheering at the theater because fans have talked about and many have wished for a sequel to Unbreakable for over a decade and suddenly we had a secret sequel that we didn't even know was coming! That reveal for us was so great! I really wish you had seen Unbreakable first, but oh well. Hope you like it when you do finally watch it.

@@CinobiteReacts Yep. Crazy right? Unbreakable was released in 2000 and Split was 2016. That's a long time to hope for a sequel and just figure you're never gonna get one.

You did overthink it for sure. I see that happen a lot with reactors, they try to get out in front and figure it out before instead of just taking the ride and letting the story happen.

Welcome back and this was unexpected you’re watching my favorite movie. Hopefully you will watch the rest of the Unbreakable Trilogy. Now watch Unbreakable for more backstory to Bruce Willis’s character and then finally Glass where all paths meet up together where shit gets real. Also this sparked my interest for liking this actress Anya Taylor-Joy and she’s now a rising star in Hollywood. Check out her stuff for both movies and series for The Witch, The Queen’s Gambit, Last Night In Soho and The Northman.

This is part of a trilogy, you should watch Unbreakable next and then Mr. Glass. The stories all come together in the Mr. Glass film. If you’re going to do a series and you haven’t seen them yet, to get your view count up you should do Stranger Things or Breaking Bad.

Breaking Bad was great, I've binged it twice now! I LOVE Stranger Things, but have held off on Season 4 so far, so I might maybe do that :)

Did you ever get that Casey was being molested as a child? Hence the reason she isolated herself?…One of the girls mentioned that she refused to be one of them … It was inferred that the scenes with the little girl were flashbacks… Your overthinking drove me nuts, BUT, it made it more fun and entertaining…the payoff at the end was when you discovered what actually happened. This was my first time watching your. I’m going to check out some of your other videos… Great job!
@CinobiteReacts11 ай бұрын
Yeah, that was some really difficult acting for Hank(?) the guy from Orange is the New Black. I thought the young Casey was actual James McAvoy, so as a kid s/he was abused and developed all of the different personalities to cope. Glad the over thinking didn't put you off :P If you get to the Harry Potter videos, as much as I think Potter is a fool, it turns out ok in the end ;)

The plant is vexing. I'm terribly vexed. Hoping you had a happy reason for time off; glad you're back. ETA: Your take reminds me of why I don't like gimmick directors. If you're watching the entire time trying to guess the gimmick, you can never really relax into the movie. Part of why Sixth Sense worked the first time was that you weren't necessarily looking for it from the start. Not a knock on you, just an observation. A surprise isn't a surprise if you expect one all along.

I hope that one day people will be willing to learn more about DID, even enough to call it DID rather than MPD. It sucks that it's just portrayed as fantasy and horror. As someone with DID, I think James McAvoy did a stellar job in this film. He truly made the character(s) feel real to me as someone with the real-life disorder. Obviously, the ending is totally fantasy, but the majority of it is one of the best depictions of DID I've ever seen in media. I just wish that one day people will be willing to learn more about the thing itself now that we're getting into an era of more mental health awareness and acceptance. It would not "be cool" to have 8 different people in your head, and you would not get "more done" in a day. You get far less done than a typical person because once a different alter takes control, you have no say in what that alter does or doesn't do.

I'm happy Anya's character didn't end up being some other personality. That sort of thing is a tired trope in psychological and horror movies. It's been burned to the ground.
