As an orthopedic physical therapist for almost 40 years, as well as a certified ergnomic evaluation specialist, I have to say this is one of the best advancements I've seen in wood splitters. I have spent decades assisting engineers in production settings create safer and more ergonomic environments for similar processing machines. The science behind knee control versus foot is very strong. The fact that the operator is standing and has full weight bearing through their leg, delays foot movement off of a treadle during an emergency. This is far safer.

@@thebradleysoncatbirdhill6849 - knee switch is money. The loader in an M1 tank uses a knee switch to open the armored doors where the ammunition is stored. The Army figured out that bit of ergonomics over 40 years ago.

Thanks guys for listening to the folks out there and adding the lip on the log lifter. Though open minded I only used foot controls and thought that was the only option for a log splitter. Boy was I I know there are a lot of non believers out there but the knee control is equal to or better than a foot control. Appreciate the awesome design on the 1165V. 👍TCT

That machine is a wee beaut! Fast, simple and so easy to shift around. Knee operation is something I've used on a horizontal machine years ago,and as a "one man band" it was a winner. With freeing up both hands it made splitting much safer. The 1165 vs would be ideal for even moderate sized firewood operations. And as a old fella (74) with a shot back that working height and log lifter...... Great stuff! Cheers from HB NZ

I hate to say it but as a medical professional, the knee action is not good, the lateral movement is not natural. Second your theory is in question of the foot pedal - they have foot pedals on a vehicle, if in an emergency the natural reaction is to take foot off pedal not apply to the pedal.
@MalamMialechАй бұрын
More studies show that people’s natural reaction and tendency is to plant down and stiffen up and brace themselves. This is why there has been cases of panic where the driver hits the gas not the brakes. As a medical professional you must have seen such incidents happen.
