The North Shore of Lake Superior is one of the most incredible places in nature that I have ever visited. I wanted to return this fall for a long weekend with some camping and day hikes. My girlfriend and I stayed at Lamb's Resort and did some car camping with easy access to some of the best hiking around.
This video was our first hike, the Split Rock River Loop. This moderately difficult hike is about 5.4 miles long and includes some great overlooks of the river valley (if you can call it that), rapids, waterfalls, and has the "Split Rock" itself! It can be done in about 4 hours if you don't stop for too long, but if you stop for lunch and take your time, it might be closer to 5 hours like it was for me. The terrain isn't that tough, but there are some rooty and rocky areas to navigate, and the length combined with that makes it what I choose to call moderately difficult, maybe slightly on the easy side of moderate.
There are three more hikes to come, so please like & subscribe if you enjoyed this and want to see more!
Thank you so much for watching!! Let me know any feedback you have and I'll see you next time.

Thankyou for putting out the fire! Yup, woodpecker holes, I believe.

Thanks Annette! I had no choice... even if there was very little chance of a fire spontaneously igniting from what was left smoldering there, I have been alive long enough to know that low probability, freak of nature type events happen far more than you would expect, and if given the chance to ensure something does or doesn't happen, I should take it. So, that fire got a little more water on it. :)

Great video! What book are you referring to?

Thanks! It's a book called "Hiking the North Shore" by Andrew Slade. It's got 50 day hikes from Duluth to Grand Portage with great descriptions of their difficulty and terrain. I'd say it's a must-have if you're looking for some hikes to do up there!
