Poor StingersSwarm spent the entire segment hugging that tree, getting nearly beheaded by Skitzo's quad over and over, and only 2 seconds of the footage made it in! LOVE these Trick Series videos! More more more!

great video series, short and sweet! Can't wait to see the rest. Like Mr. Steele once said, if you keep changing your gear on your quad (motors, esc, firmware, etc), you will have a hard time to master it, exceptionally the throttle control!

I just started freestyle flight after mostly racing my quads for about 2 years and Im loving it. Im doing most of my freestyle maneuvers high in the air before I feel comfortable enough to freestyle low to the ground and near trees. Thats not to say I havent already attempted this by doing a powerloop near my pinetrees and my fun almost ended abruptly :)

ummagawd Roger that, watched that one yesterday :) Glad your quad survived! I understand because my quads are like my pets. One of my favorite things to do right now is to get the quad way high in the air, do a 180 roll into inverted, cut the motors and freefall for a few seconds. Theres just something I love about that right now.

Awesome episode! Look forward to seeing more from the Trick series with Flight Instructor Skitzo! :-) What do you guys think about buddy boxing with a noob and showing em how it's done in a future episode from the trick series? Although I'm guessing that this series is probably aimed more at advanced pilots rather than new pilots. Could at the very least be entertaining I suppose. :-) There is a particular tree I hope to pull off this maneuver with someday. :-)

Oh man, where were you 4 months ago when I was trying to figure these out?! Thanks for the video, love the tips! Is it me, or have I been hearing so many quads lately that have those oscillations and twitches? Our local group has had a heck of a time with mid-throttle oscillations, and general twitching too. Maybe Blheli_S isn't where it should be?

As this is aimed at newer pilots, you should probably have mentioned that "Airmode" needs to be enabled in order for the PID loop to still be active when at zero throttle. Good video though, intrigued about what you have coming later this week.

How do you make sure your quad is controllable at 0 throttle? I thought it was all about having the "motor stop" feature disabled in Cleanflight, but there are also some tricks with keeping the PID loop running and idle switches and stuff... Could you explain a bit more in a video perhaps? Cause 90% of the tricks won't work if you don't have this set up right.
@ummagawdFPV
@ummagawdFPV 7 жыл бұрын
motor stop doesn't keep gyro's active. "Airmode" as some FC's call it does... as does setting up an idle switch. We'll try to get into that a bit more on upcoming episodes
@Rcdude10tc32
@Rcdude10tc32 7 жыл бұрын
I'm trying this in a flight simulator (FPV Freerider) and having difficulty doing this they way he did. It seems that after I do the initial roll, I have to pitch backwards to get the quad to level out. Is this a result of what you're talking about? In the video I don't see him do anything but pitch forward at the end of the roll. My guess is that the quads gyro is doing the pitch backwards for him because it want's to be level?

I'm just getting into it and got my beater quad, Eachine Wizard X220. Decent build to start with and cheap. Joined a local FPV club too, to meet others with more experience. Keep your Rotor Riot series going! My plan: Watch KZbins, build, fly, crash, repeat many many times. I think the best tip, as mentioned above, use the same gear all the time to learn and get decent with it, and to learn how to fix it. I've hammered my quad down many times so far and now it's jittery in hover, so I have some work to do figuring out if it's vibes (from many sources) and/or FC needs recal, oh the fun. Glad all you gurus are there to give good advice, and Joshua B to get all scientific, which helps too. I'm an older guy, like Mr Steele's dad's age, but I want to learn how to do this fun stuff with half the reflex speed of the young-guns!

Hey RR, I'm still hazy on the different modes, can you explore them in more detail please. I'm nervous about switching to Horizon!!
@florianvanderharten7281
@florianvanderharten7281 7 жыл бұрын
Pat Edwards Horizon is just like the name says, it levels the quad. Whatever you're coming out of, it can't be any easier to control your quad. Acro mode however is the difficult mode, but I would suggest switching to it after you get some experience, because acro allows you to do these moves and fly smoot. Acro is a steep learning curve but a rewarding one ; ) As for angle and rate, they're all kind of variants of horizon. Angle is horizon but extremely limited in terms of turning speed. It will automatically hover if you take your hands off the radio. Rate is the same as acro. Horizon is a mix, which means it stabilizes but it allows for flips. I suggest you get into rate/acro as soon as you can : )

@florianvanderharten7281
@florianvanderharten7281 7 жыл бұрын
Yea, I am wishing you luck, but I hope you're aware of the fact that airmode is already the most difficult one out there? I would suggest staying on it if you're already getting comfortable with it though, it allows for the coolest moves. If your airmode is the same as my airmode, you should have full control at 0 throttle and acro maneuvers. If not, then ignore what I said... : )
