Yes, we've done a split stay. The thing you want to do is "communicate" with the front desk. They won't automatically know this just because it's in your My Disney Experience. And when having them move your luggage from one hotel to another, you need to give them a little notice; and expect your luggage to take awhile to get to the next hotel. Yes, same day of course but it could take a few hours. For us, we did NOT have to be in our room or even at the hotel at that time. They put the luggage in our room before we got in there. Now we were also a little late checking in because we were at the parks in the middle of all of this.

My family loves split stays. Never a problem with luggage, guest service always transferred our stuff. One week, 3 locations, like 3 different vacations. We always end our trip at BLT our home resort bc we like the Magical Express bus trip to the airport from there. Plus we get fresh sheets and towels 3x.

Have done a couple of split stays, always driven by lack of availability for the whole vacation. One big advantage is you can do the dining plan for one segment of the vacation and not end up with it dominating all the planning around eating.

Split stays are great and Pete S was correct, they don't bring the bags to the new room until you are in the room. Good discussion.

We did a DVC hop for one October family vacation. OKW, to hit the DS area, BWV, to experience that HS/Epcot area, and Kidani, Savannah view. We had the best time, but the kids said they wish we would have done the whole trip at Kidani.... Now we know...😁

I’m not a DVC owner but we did a split stay at Grand Floridian for 3 nights and 7 nights at the Polynesian. They took our luggage with us on a golf cart and they helped us bring our luggage to our room. They said not many people go from the Grand to the Polynesian.

My family (me, wife, 10 year old daughter, and 7 year old son) are doing a split stay: 8 nights at French Quarter, 3 nights at Animal Kingdom. We REALLY wanted to stay at Animal Kingdom, but no way could we afford 11 nights with a Savannah view. But 3 nights? Absolutely! Can't wait for August 2020!

For Pete and locals contemplating idea of split stay. I would not recommend doing 1 night + 1 night. Reason being is sometimes... well, most of the time, you won’t get your room before 2- then with check out by 11 the next day you’d barely enjoy your room. Just my personal opinion. My thinking is at least 2+2 nights.

I love split stays!!! You do have to be in the room to get your bags, but it's never a big problem. They are usually super fast! I have been able to stay at SO many resorts by doing this. Even been upgraded often too! In March we are doing Bay Lake and Polynesian. So much fun!

I like the idea. I take my mom like Pete does to Disney a lot. My mom is 80 now and she HATES the idea. When she goes to a hotel/resort she makes it home. Unpacks. Sets up the bathroom. Etc. She doesnt want to do this a few times on vacation.

We have been members since 2006. We have three home resorts AKL BLT and VGF. The split stays we have done went seamlessly. We are a family of 6 so we are like a small tribe when moving. I agree it is great to see all the different resorts. There is another benefit as dvc members if you want the dining plan and do a split stay you can split your dining plan. we normally stay longer than 7 days just so everyone has a reference.

I also like that with a split stay I can add the dining plan for just some of the nights of our stay. This works out super well during Epcot festivals for using snack credits at the festival booths. AND my refillable mug works for an entire 2 weeks, so I’m really winning on the beverage front 😆 I’m a mad Disney planner, and doing the DP this way can really stretch a dollar.

I live in Ireland so a trip to Disney World is VERY expensive. I'd love to experience all the resorts but that for me is never going to happen. Split stays for me are a great way to experience more resorts. Also they can be great for saving a bit of money. On my last visit, I stayed at AKL which was my dream resort to stay at. I couldn't afford to stay there for the full visit so I also spent a couple of nights in a Little Mermaid room at AOA

We did a split stay a couple times for another reason. For example: we took 5 nights in a 2 bedroom at Saratoga Springs, so that my cousin's family could join us, then they left, and we moved to a studio at Boardwalk. I've only got 1 child left at home, so when others join us, we take a bigger accommodation for the length that we need and then move to a studio somewhere else. It is like 2 separate vacations that way also.

We did a split stay in October because we could only get one night at BLT. We had a cabin for one night at Fort Wilderness and a Studio at BLT for one night. I think one of the keys to the split stay is playing where you stay!

I am 10 days from my 4th split stay, I love it, experience multiple resorts, I also get a cheaper room off property but close to for the weekends to save the points, weekends are so spendy, cheaper at a hotel stay close and still use the DVC facilities on property. #DVCROCKS

We stay in 2 different resorts for variety and it makes sense to us. Half at moderate when were going to be at the parks from open to close and deluxe when we know were going to spend more time at the resort. But if you have a dining plan, its 2 different ones, so its tricky cause one doesnt start until you check in to the other one and they cant overlap. Them taking the luggage took about 8 hours so it wasnt worth it.

In 2016 we had to do a split stay but it was non DVC. It wasn’t that bad, just didn’t like the hotel that we were put into. In 2016 as we were flying to Florida the cabins were shut down and no one could stay there because of hurricane Matthew. They put us in POP. Asked if we could move when they reopened since we were staying for 10 days. They said sure just ask us. 2 or 3 days later they actually told us it was open and we could move if we wanted to. We said yes. They told us to just pack everything and leave it in our room. I had my tribe plus the hubby, tons of luggage. They had everything in the cabin and for us after we were done at the parks that day. Super easy. Disney didn’t disappoint.

So when we come from the UK we often get free dining. We usually stay for 10 nights and would like to split stay but it's not possible as you need 6 consecutive days at one resort. For me, this is one of the major draws to DVC as we won't be utilising free dining much longer anyway.

Almost always do split stays. Disney does make it easy...but you do have to be in your room to receive your luggage. We usually go for 10 or 11 nights and will do 2 nights at AKV and then 8 at BCV . In May, we will do 2 nights in a GV at BLT and then 8 at BCV. Trying BLT out to see if I want to add there.

We do split-stays often. November we stayed at the Polynesian, Beach Club and Biardwakk. We love it! We use our transition day as a resort day and I personally drop amd pick up our luggage from Bell Services myself most times because I never have to wait for our thimgs. I agree, we typically stay at the resort and go to the close parks. Love it!

Just stayed at Coronado last week. We did one night in the tower and a few nights in the ranchos area of the resort. We were told that our bags would be put into our new room while we were at the park that day. Got to the room and the bags were not there. We were given the wrong information and guests must be in the room in order for the bags to arrive (unless it’s through magical express). Not sure if this is different at each resort, but from now on, I’ll be going off the assumption that someone needs to be in the room in order for the bags to arrive

I've done a few split stays. I don't like doing it. I much prefer to stay in one resort the whole trip (preferably my home resort because I love it!). My Dec. 2019 trip I was at Disney for 3 nights and had to switch resorts every day. Thank goodness I only had one suitcase that trip!

I definitely could see the benefit of a split stay if you wanted to try out to separate resorts. I am someone that if I'm gonna plan a week long vacation to Disney world I'm going to need a rest day in the middle that's not at the parks so that would be a perfect day to switch properties.

Did our first split stay in 2014 at AKK to BWV. The transfer was easy. Even using FLTours towncar service at the time. They dropped off at AK and picked up at BW. My husband didn't love AKK, but I've convinced him to give it another try this May in Jambo House, then moving over to SSR.. Even though we have AP's, I'd really like to take advantage of the dining at both resorts and not focus so much on the parks. We are driving this time, so it should be convenient. It would be nice if I could micro-plan and pack two different suitcases for each resort.. but I'm not sure I'm that talented!
