Do you ever just convert a stereo hi hat or stereo kick loop to a mono file? Like you said it doesn't need to be in stereo. And is there a way to cut the stereo file into 2 mono tracks to be used instead? (instead if using the utility plug-in)

That's helpful to know about the split stereo panning.I never was aware that that mode was available, and I'd always put workarounds in my projects, where are you thought it would particularly matter. It'll be great to clean up my templates and simplify.
