Joao had the win at 7:41 with Demonic Consultation and Laboratory Maniac. Why didn't he mill his deck for a turn 7 win instead of fetching Wheel of Fortune?
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
This was played long ago, but if we call correctly he pulled Demonic consultation from Lim'dul's vault, so he had drawn the card for turn already (consultation) had Baal not missteped the cast from hand he could have won, but after that, casting if from the Graveyard and milling himself, and hoping for the Labman to survive a turn cycle was too dangerous, as we all could try to remove it, so he went for a safer way to refill his hand since he was out of options.

Aside from the mistakes others in the comments have mentioned, exiling a creature with Scooze when Konrad was on board should have net 0 life for Baal since it's +1 from Ooze and -1 from Konrad. Rest of the video was totally stellar, congratulations to Sequiera for winning with such a unique deck!
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I don't know what errors are you mentioning. After reviewing the only error found is at 16:50, when Baal Exiles Ayara and loses 1 life, as he should have stayed with the same HP. Actually, all the creatures Baal fed to scooze from HIS graveyard DO give him +1 life, because the clause of pinging when leaving the GY from Konrad affects only creatures leaving Sequeira's GY. We knew that and that's why sometimes Baal plays creatures for fodder, like the turn he played Dryad Arbor and Boreal Druid, this way one would be sacced, and he could eat it up for +1 HP. We knew that, and Baal did too, although while editing it skiped him that activation at 16:50

I've considered infect for him a few times, but I'd need to cast it when I'm sure I'll take the table out, and that's not always guaranteed. Maybe permanent infect could work better, like cycling Void Beckoner on someone's turn and milling on your turn
@thenewlollipopjam82484 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's true. Phyresis and grafted exoskeleton seem like dead draws without Konrad as all of the other pingers are life lost instead of damage dealt.

I play Edric and I notice that the Edric player deck is not explosive enough. By turn 5/6, his board should be full and drawing 4-5 cards per turn and then take multiple turns in a row.

How can he build a board state with the fiend in play ? Smh
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
Yeah they couldn't grow because of the Archfiend saying "no"
@BaalRoi4 жыл бұрын
Well, Edric can be explosive, yes, but depending on the pod, it must take on different roles. Sometimes you must play slower and have some interaction up, because you will simply not be able to race the other faster decks. In this case, I had a slower start with lack of landdrops, which I risked in order not to mull to 6, and I rather have Scooze to prevent Kess from going off, and then there was an early Archfiend preventing me from dumping my creatures, and then after the wheel I flooded rly hard, I drew around 6~Lands!

Why Cardoso used Demonic Consultation without having Thassas Oracle ready makes no sense in my head
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
By the time we recorded this Video Cardoso wasn't running Thassas's Oracle yet. By that time his deck's lines were Consultation into Jace, then consultation from Graveyard again, although, at that point in the game he was having problems with the color of mana he could produce so he was mostly digging for a way out and to survive longer.

But why didn't baal cast his commander?
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
Archfiend was allowing only 2 creatures to stay on the board, and as an Edric player you want to cast it when you have more creatures out to take more advantage from him than the other opponents could. In this game everyone else had as many or more creatures than him in the beginning which led him to play a slower grindier game. Having him out early would give more cards to the opponents than to him.
@justjaison11914 жыл бұрын
Not that it influenced the outcome of the game at all but the archfeind should have been exiled upon Luis leaving the game. . 800.4a When a player leaves the game, all objects (see rule 109) owned by that player leave the game and any effects which give that player control of any objects or players end. Then, if that player controlled any objects on the stack not represented by cards, those objects cease to exist. Then, if there are any objects still controlled by that player, those objects are exiled. This is not a state-based action. It happens as soon as the player leaves the game. If the player who left the game had priority at the time they left, priority passes to the next player in turn order who’s still in the game. Example: Alex casts Bribery, which reads, “Search target opponent’s library for a creature card and put that card onto the battlefield under your control. Then that player shuffles their library,” targeting Bianca. Alex puts Serra Angel onto the battlefield from Bianca’s library. If Bianca leaves the game, Serra Angel also leaves the game. If, instead, Alex leaves the game, Serra Angel is exiled.

"AND any effect that give that player control of any object or player end". That's the important part. It wasn't a misplay
@justjaison11914 жыл бұрын
@@cabal. read the example provided by wotc in the rules
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
If you check our video #01 you'll see a similar example, where we exiled a card that had been "gilded draked", as we had the same thought process you have. But we were misinterpreting that specific rule (the comment is pinned on that video). As you read the rule, you'll see "any effects which give that player control of any objects or players end" and I believe this will cease the control of the mentioned card, giving it back to his owner. From our understanding and the judge we asked about it, the card returns to his owner. The "exile" clause is for different cases, we can't recall which, but since you mentioned this we'll ask other judges as well.
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
Been at the judges' chat, just to have a "second opinion", and the control over the creature (gained by gilded drake's triggered ability) ends, so the creature comes to his previous controller! The cases where it is exiled are cases like the one in the rule's example, with Bribery, because it had no previous controller! That's why it is exiled instead.
@justjaison11914 жыл бұрын
@@SplitSecond yeah it only gets exiled if it had no previous controller, through bribery, preator's grasp, (Gonti, Lord of luxury),etc...
@Dadeadlydonut4 жыл бұрын
Aren’t any creatures you own but are under another players control exiled when that player dies?
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
No, that's a common misinterpretation of the rules, if you scroll down to Jaison King's comment you have your answer. It's like a layer that says "creature X is controlled by player 3", then when player 3 leaves the game all "any effects which give that player control of any objects or players end", so that "layer" ceases to exist and the last Controller of that object gains control over it. (only in cases where the object had no previous controller they are exiled (because they were put into play by a different effect).

When a player dies, don’t the permanents they have stolen go into exile?
@SplitSecond4 жыл бұрын
We looked with the judges and if a creature gets stolen, the effect that stole ceases to exist and the creature returns to the previous controller. Only when the creature or spell was directly taken from the player's deck (meaning, he never controlled it) does the creature get exiled (Bribery is an example). We've had this question show up in our first game because we thought everything got exiled and we had to check in afterwards ^^
