You're gonna love that trailer, Kaufman makes good stuff, I still love mine!!! Thanks for the shout out 😂💪 All we got in this world is each other and you're one of the good one's Matt!🤜🤛 I agree with your choice of ear muffs with Bluetooth capabilities, over just the ear buds. I used to do that too and I'd end up with screaming headaches like I wasn't even wearing any hearing protection.😂😂 Sweet gum is my worst enemy 😂😂 splitter don't really have a problem with it but, yes like you showed its harder to do that oak, but just the way it shreds instead of actually splitting is the hardest part. It doesn't make pretty wood😂😂 I do agree though, it's good burning !!! I think showing that Comercial splitters are the answer to splitting sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua). Much easier than a box store splitter!!!! Stay safe brother, see ya next time

I appreciate that Jack. You are good people too! The splitters don’t have a problem with it the end result is the problem haha. Thanks for watching take care!

Matt, 9 years old I would seriously change out all of the tires before using it with the weight of firewood.

Check those bearings and brakes .. breaks tend to seize up on trailer especially if not used enough.. great find, great addition!!
@FirewoodontheHill3 ай бұрын
The tires are actually in great shape. They have been inside their whole life. No sun or moister issue. Brakes seem to work so far!
@Stihlalive0443 ай бұрын
@FirewoodontheHill once you put some weight on them on the highway they could rip apart. Spare on my camper was like brand new and never used. I replaced it and when on the machine it tore apart like paper, all dried out.

Matt, I felt this video on so many levels. I thought I was so far ahead with the most wood I’ve ever had to sell and people have been blowing me up non stop, feel like all the getting ahead was for nothing! Champagne problems, I know. I also enjoy burning and have customers who enjoy burning sweet gum but man it’s a bear to split. IMO worse than elm or sycamore, but those 3 fight for the crown. Nice trailer, great score!
@FirewoodontheHill3 ай бұрын
Yeah I would rather split elm for sure. I don’t think I’ve had any sycamore before. We got good problems on our hands and we just gotta keep digging! Thanks for watching .

Nice trailer!!👍Sure makes you wonder what kind of business practices the tree service has, if they can't even keep their word to you on picking the gum back up.🙄

If you want you can rotate the cover so you aren't pulling around a corner. Saves on your shoulder and cord.

Hi Matt Good on the sales of your wood !! Wow on nasty Sweet Gum !! Watching you split wood seems it was at regular speed work but the conveyor was going a mile a minute !!!! Seems you're gonna be wearing it out prematurely when its not needing to run that fast for the amount of wood that is entering the conveyor ! Maybe im wrong on what it looks like im seeing !!😊 You have a Good Day ! The trailer looks GOOD...thinking the tires should be OK as long as they aren't going on long trips at 60 or 70 miles per hour !!
@FirewoodontheHill2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The tires look great and I have no worries with them. The conveyor is as slow as I can get without spending a lot more money than what a belt cost haha.
@kendriedger1512 ай бұрын
@FirewoodontheHill LOL on the belt verses the conversion ! You have a Good Day 😁

That sweet gum is old wood and it does shred alot BUT try splitting some Live Oak wood.. Weighs a ton and takes for ever to dry out and will make a splitter groan. Down here in the south the closest we have to that is cottonwood and that is another tough wood but it make the best fence posts because it really doesn't rot.
@FirewoodontheHill3 ай бұрын
I don’t think I’ve split live oak before. I know it’s the heaviest wood when it green because the water content. If what you say is true I hope to never spilt any haha. Thanks for watching!

Hello, there. Good morning, or whatever the case may be mean, my lady are n to your channel? Hey, I was just wondering. We're just getting into the firewood thing, so we're living and learning. Recently, we were able to get hold of actually, a nut store neighbor's tree, which was cut down its box shoulder and that stuff is from funky stuff. It'll burn, but it definitely is not the best quality firewood is box older. Yes, bad is what you had to cut up on this video just wondering.😅
@FirewoodontheHill20 күн бұрын
Sweet gum is the wood I was splitting. It’s the hardest splitting wood here in Nc for sure.
