Nice clean up, excited to see it with grass growing again!!!!

Yeah I never liked mowing over there. The grass doesn’t grow well because of the trees and it gets really dusty haha

Nice...staying mechanical for as much as you can is really a labor savings.

Great job on the cleanup, what you just experienced is why I’m sticking with IBC totes. My goal is to have about 100 of them, roughly 30 cords stacked. This year I’m about 1/2 way there. If you can’t move an IBC tote it’s the way to go IMO. Have a great day Matt, glad Sadie will be happy now.😊

Yeah I think you are right ibc Totes are the way to go if you can move them. I’m still against stacking seeing how much more I was able to split last year. I think stacking will allow you to hold way more wood though.

@ You have the conveyor though, so it makes sense not to stack. You’re probably going to need 20-30% more totes. What I found myself doing when I had the 17VS-C was letting it pile up on the totes and then sort of stacking the last rung or so of the tote and giving it the domed up look. I think doming it up help direct the rain and snow off the stack, vs. it falling all the way down to the base.

@ yes you are right. What I’m contemplating is whether I want to double stack these totes or not. I wouldn’t be able to dome them plus I wouldn’t be able to get as much in them unless I stack the bottom ones.

Good work - clean up work is satisfying and I wasn't surprised when you said your wife wanted the yard back! I was just saying in my head, "I wonder if his wife wants to reclaim the yard?" about the time you said the same thing!

Haha yes I agree it’s nicer but wood piles mean money!

Maybe in the future you can create some rows of stacked wood on pallets along the driveway that you just cleaned up. Start the first row closest to the driveway since it will be the first out later. Leave enough space between the rows to drive your truck/tractor and trailer between for subsequent stacking and loading out. I know most of us dislike stacking, but it looks way better which is important when it's in such a visible area. Good video Matt!

Yeah I used to stack and I filled up the whole yard stacking. It looked good full but didn’t look good once the wood started moving. It was actually a bigger mess to clean up than piling believe it or not.

Hi Matt NICE job on the clean up of the yard ! Now what to do with all the crap ! I'm thinking if you try to burn it , it will smoke for a Month ! You'll get sick of smelling it and the neighbors as well !!!! Is there a free recycling place that you can hau it to ???😊
@FirewoodontheHill5 күн бұрын
Yeah I’m gonna have to burn it. It should burn pretty fast as long as I can keep it hot! Thanks for watching!

Looks like a big improvement rather than the eyesore of big piles of wood

Yes my wife is happy. I like big piles of wood better than grass thought haha. One means money and the other means up keep and cost…

Plastic pallets are definitely and idea but I worry about their airflow. All the ones I’ve got access too are solid tops not slatted like the traditional pallets. Thanks for sharing Matt
@FirewoodontheHill5 күн бұрын
Yeah the ones I have do have cut outs in the top. Obviously not as much as a standard pallet but it looks like enough. Thanks for watching!

I'd suggest just bringing up ibc's of wood for self service. Unless you plan on more wood then you can fit out back, in the holler.
