No, the time they filled up that car with gas instead of oil and left it parked next to the pump and tank was beyond sketch and full blown ludicrous. This would have flashed and been out pretty quick. That tank of gasoline would have left a crater the size of his house

Toluene and diesel is what ran on their turbo F1 cars on in the 80s. Toluene for the octane and bang and diesel for a longer burn time on the power stroke.

I genuinely love this type of video, it reminds me of the good old days of Cooper and Cleet with the C7 doing turbo exhaust whistle tomfoolery. I would love to see how a propane conversion would hold up to a race track. There are lots of propane conversions out there, but how would it hold up to the McFarland Science team stress test.

Propane is a great fuel for internal combustion engines. Only real problem is that it has way less energy per given unit of volume than gasoline. And unlike methanol it does not have the same cooling effect. I've seen 10 sec drag cars on propane in the past. This has not really been a thing lately but sure, I wouldn't mind seeing some testing done and a Mcfarland science test. They could use the Shyster for this. It's got a GM 4.3 V6 so if it blows up there are 10 million more out there

The oil would look fine. All of the brake cleaner was igniting (prematurely); it wouldn’t have had a chance to mix.

Once ran a 1998 Ford explorder 2.5 miles on brake cleaner to get to my boys house when his fuel pump went out. I sat on the radiator support while he drove about 10 mph. Full break clean injected through the throttle body did the trick. Replaced the fuel pump, truck ran for years to come.

They do make reusable break clean sprayers where you just buy the fluid, put it in the container, then pressurize it with an air compressor, which might be a more cost effective and less wasteful option. Also might save a few brain cells lol

It's also the best fabric cleaner you'll ever use..ever wonder why the good stuff (non-flammable, carcinogenic, chlorinated brake clean) smells like an old school dry cleaners from pre-1990s? It ain't a coincidence.. Had a ball point pen explode in the pocket of a white uniform shirt when I was working for NAPA in the early eighties, chlorinated brake clean took every last bit of the ink out, no stain, no mess.. Stuff works a treat on car interior stains.. The flammable shite is useless. As one would expect from a "safe" nanny-state mandated version of a product. 😁

I have always wondered what would happen if you spray medical oxygen with regular gas and maybe some nos as well. Would it mean more power with less fuel. Could also use it in higher elevation and duplicate sea level atmosphere or better. I could be wrong but makes sense logically!

Without even watching the video, I do this almost every day. Have a bunch of cars around that usually don't have a fuel system, or a messed up one. Fill the float bowl with brake clean and I can usually get around the building to the shop. I have also done this to cars with vapor lock issues. Although, horrendous spark knock on a hot engine.

You should retry a HP pull with the original octane fuel after the brake clean to see if it cleaned the injectors and created better atomization of fuel, to get more HPs!!

I’ll tell you right now, tip small amounts of distilled water into your throttle body while the engine is idling. Use enough so the engine coughs and farts but doesn’t stall, repeat a few times or until performance improves. Basically steam cleaning your bores and valves so an oil change afterwards is probably not a bad idea.

Once. I was running low on gas (02" Chevy Tahoe stage cam 5.3) but had 3 gallons of tranny fluid (clean) & 5 gallons of diesel.. my truck was on less than a 1/4 tank.. I had over 30milez to the next town 20 miles to nearest truckstop... Ran like ah champ .

You can buy brake clean by the gallon/barrel and fill up pump pressurized spray bottles. Much cheaper than buying cans by the case load.

I would love to see 1/2 brake clean and 1/2 ATF. With both being excellent cleaners, you should have sparkling clean combustion chambers!

that would be one smoky combination. I think it needs brake clean + octane booster. Lead supreme might work really well (tetraethyl lead)

You should go for the 55 gallon drum of brake clean. It is expensive, but overall, way cheaper than many cans of brake clean.

Propane or natural gas could be a good fuel to try next. It’s been used successfully in some production vehicles, but it would be fun to see a regular vehicle ran on it. Or maybe try camp fuel bottles from the sporting good store. 😛

Canada has a ton of current model vehicles that run on NG, and you can get LP or NG conversions for just about any vehicle. Just lower fuel mileage and little lower HP.

Propane/Compressed gas conversions were extremely popular up until the 1970s because it was much cheaper. My family ran their farm equipment originally on compressed butane, then switched to propane for all their tractors and trucks.

You can run a diesel on it. Should add qt oil in with it tho. Done it few times when I ran out of diesel.

@@racecitypatriot66 a lot of guys up here in the north east will carry 5 gallon of kerosene with them in case their diesel truck gels up. If the filters gel up they'll dump in the kerosene.

I ran out of gas once in my old carbed jeep. I had a gallon of bulk brake clean for the shop I worked at… Poured it in the tank and the damn thing ran great about 10 miles to the gas station and never had a problem after that.

Per the MSDS that brake clean is roughly 47% methanol, 42% toluene, 11% acetone. Those all have an octane rating above 100, probably in the 110 to 120 range.

@@TylerDuysen im a diesel trucks only kind of person so I seriously did not know gas vehicles had egr's aswell. I honestly thought it was just diesels. But we delete them asap. We don't have time to deal with Def along with clogged egr's.

@@elkomander3510 they have evap systems the recirculate vapors and unburnt fuel. My 200p shitbox corolla had one cost me $1700 to replace the whole system just to SMOG it. Ran fine but wouldn't pass smog because California is filled with a bunch of liberal commies that wanna save the environment

I've always wanted to see how toulene would work as a stand-alone fuel. You can buy the stuff at your local paint store and it was used back in the 1980's as a component of 104+ octane booster. Give it a whirl!
