As a car guy in Utah, I feel your pain. The Young conglomerate bought Rocky Mountain Raceway (the only drag strip in utah) and demolished it for warehouse commercial use. Guess what happened?! Crime from street racing, speeding tickets, and now the #1 state of worst drivers. Tracks are an immediate and safe solution to all of these. Don’t let them encroach on your track. They will take it! If not now, in the near future.

It's not just race tracks either. Small airports & Runways and wildlife spaces often fall victim to endeavors like this. Like the mountain lion P22 who was caught the other day in the HollyWood Hills. He'd been there for many years, was tagged and constantly tracked. But once a few Karens had their Chihuahua's attacked while walking them at dusk.. He gone. The point is: Planes gonna Fly, Mountain lions gonna mountain lion and Race Cars gonna race. Stay in your lane, understand that you're not the main character and live and let live.

Your speech during comment period was very powerful. I don't drag race but I grew up around cars and drag racing because of my father and uncle and I have to say I agree with everything you said. It's the same here in Ohio they shut down tracks like there ain't no tomorrow because they want to put housing developments. There was a drag track in Trumbull County Ohio and Howland Township And I remember before my father passed he always talked about it while my sister and her husband found old video from like the '50s of this drag race track and had it the film put on the VHS and my dad used to watch it all the time till he passed in 1999. Even he said they close that track down for no reason other than to put little stores and homes. I live in a small town called Fowler and have about 70 acres of land we shoot guns on our property never had an issue until the last couple years when the neighbors noticed we shot guns all the time they start shooting guns and then other neighbors started complaining which Is the new neighbors.

The shut down my track due to noise, because they surrounded it with houses. I've personally seen several major street racing accidents in my area since which never was the case before. It's not just about shutting down businesses, it's paying with blood to shut venues down like this and it's not worth the cost.

Gonna need a little more than a 25 foot fence to stop noise. They need a 25 mile radius around the track. That might stop noise complaints. Better yet, don't buy a house beside a race track. I'm sure Florida is the same as everywhere else. Greedy land developers just grease the palms of the right people. All of a sudden you got 4500 homes and a closed race track.

Used to live 4 miles from a track before it got shut down. doesn't matter how far I lived or how high the fencing was, you could always hear the track even with main highways and city noise. Loved every bit of it...trying to distinguish what type of 4cyl, v8s or bikes are ripping from that distance, hearing the sprint cars ripping, the jet cars and crazy semis and diesel truck ..good ole days

Considering how they know this is going to cause problems I bet it opens up some lawsuit potential. Conspiring to try to harm his business even after being aware of obvious problems. They know people will complain about noise and they want people to so they can force the track to close and buy all the land for cheap. They know a wall and a burm isn't good enough to block the sound. Seems like dishonest business practices to me. Racetrack was there first. People shouldn't be allowed to build a house right next door and then complain until the business is forced to close. They're going to cause nothing but both angry racetrack and home owners because of low IQ development management skills

Hell ya, watchin this after kyles video and its kool too see your boat and your view, i would get with JP, get a riva racing kit and maybe upgrade the impeller, supercharger wheel, maybe switch too racing fuel and have him sprinkle so tuning salt on it. without building the engine you can only go so far, and with that style boat/hull you can only get so much out of it before its unstable. I would just upgrade instead of going turbo, you can make good power, without worrying about the boats capabilities.

Superchargers are definitely ideal for your boat Cleet, get a water/air intercooler and either spin the charger faster or get a slightly bigger one. You really want that instant power for jumps. Even a very small amount of turbo lag I'll bet will annoy you.

The developer wants to build houses next to the racetrack. Not like anyone from the development company will live in those houses. They will sell the houses in the hopes that the buyers don't realize there is a racetrack not far away. Then the issues arise for the homeowners , the county, and Cleet, while the developers count their money. It has happened in many other places before. It hurts the tracks, the homeowners, and the people who want to race/see races legally and safely. Not to mention the police force, other locals not interested in racing, etc will have to deal with a large portion of people opting to race on public streets since they don't have a track anymore.

I live in the UK and there's a drag stripe called santa pod about 7 miles away from my house and its amazing place to go and race and watch the shows there. on race day we can tell what cars are running as there's 2 burms each side of the track and it ecos like crazy we love it but I can guarantee not everyone does

Before I got married, I used to go Shakespeare Raceway (also known as Avon Park Raceway many years ago I believe) at Long Marston Airfield with a bunch of mates. Started out racing at 'Run what ya brung' days before just turning up for the weekend in our tents. Shakespeare could not keep away the bulldozers when the land owner sold up to developers and is now a massive housing estate. There is an element of irony that the locals always complained about the noise, but it wont be long before they complain about the increase in traffic, not enough school places and cant get seen by doctors. Towns need money from 'outsiders' to come in, and place like this help. It also seems there is still a strong community out there as the Straight liners group have started Melbourne Raceway in York which is making really good progress in its first few opening years as an 1/8th mile track, but with visions to go full 1/4 mile. I now go Santa Pod 2-3 times a year with my kids who enjoy it immeasurably. Thankfully the CEO/owner last year stated over the PA in one of his track side interviews said they repeatedly turn down offers from house builders and the locals seem to tolerate it which i'm really thankful for - and a good number of us stood up and clapped in appreciation. Cleetus hit the right note - these places are generally built out of the way of others to avoid noise disruption to locals, those thumps from the large V8's not only carry through the air, but also carry through the ground. No thin fence is going to stop that! It seems as though this form of entertainment and hobby is always 'picked on' and always seen as a nuisance - its almost like an anti-social social club who in most cases are very well behaved. Good luck Cleetus with this, our hobby is slowly being eroded and you have built an epic 'playground' that's off the streets and I have enjoyed your content and the development of the FF over the last few years, and enjoyed the stint on Top gear!!

Happened in my town. It's intentional. The developers know they can build and then add value to their new property when the track dies as a result of their actions. Then they can swoop in and buy the parcel the track was on, too - usually for pretty cheap. The days are numbered for people like us. The future is for controllable human drones.
