Spoedbegeleiding van het HMC Westeinde Den Haag naar het LUMC Leiden.

N.a.v. een geplande verplaatsing van een patiënt in de spits heeft het ambulancepersoneel een aanvraag gedaan voor motorbegeleiding van het HMC Westeinde te Den Haag naar het LUMC in Leiden.
Deze aanvraag doen zij bij de meldkamer ambulance en nadat deze is goedgekeurd komt de aanvraag bij de meldkamer politie binnen. Deze stuurt vervolgens de motorrijders van Team Verkeer aan. Eenmaal ter plaatse maakt de commandant van de motorrijders afspraken met de ambulancechauffeur m.b.t. de route en het soort transport (glijdend/spoed/langzaam/snel etc.)
The paramedics requested a police escort from HMC Westeinde ( The Hague) to the LUMC hospital in Leiden.
After the request is granted by the supervisors three officers respond to the call and provide the escort.

Op de laatste rotonde van de spoedrit in Leiden stonden wij het verkeer te regelen. Van verre hoorden wij al de sirenes aankomen. Hierop hebben direct gereageerd en de weg voor het verkeer vrij gemaakt zodat ze gelijk door konden rijden naar het ziekenhuis. Leuke samenwerking met de politie Denhaag. Verkeersregelaars THS uit Sassenheim.

I've only recently started watching these, and oh boy are these videos addictive and I have to say this is another amazing video. Also is there any chance of subtitles being added to these videos? That way we could all get some more insight in to how you relay information back and forth with regards to traffic and road conditions. You guys are amazing, and so well co-ordinated too. Here with an emergency (life in danger) an ambulance has to be there within 15 minutes, in a 'normal' emergency within 30 minutes.

This was a planned hospital to hospital transfer. However, ambulance response times in the UK are unacceptable indeed. I suspect the funding (or lack thereof) for the NHS is a major problem. What I (as a Dutchman) don't understand though is why a second ambulance goes on scene when it's difficult to get a patient to the ambulance because the patient is too heavy or stairs are causing a problem. In The Netherlands usually the Fire Service is called for assistance. The assistance can be providing extra muscle power, or in cases where a patient needs to me moved in a horizontal position from let's say the first or second floor using the areal platform. Operating in this way more ambulance stay available for their main taks. UK ambulances having to wait for ages before their patient can actually be admitted to the hospital of course doesn't help either.
