This is like that Norm Macdonald joke about Germany: "I don't know if you guys are history buffs, but in the early part of the last century Germany decided to go to war. And who did they go to war with... the World (It had never been tried before). And you'd figure that would take about 5 seconds for the World to win, but no, it was actually close."
@Zachary-Daiquiri Жыл бұрын
Germany was close to taking Europe, but not even close to taking the world. Had they somehow managed to take Britain they still would have needed to conquer the soviets and the entire continental united states. It was always a pipe dream and was proven to be when the allies breezed through Normandy and marched easily into berlin.

I love the ideas that AW played with as a campaign. What happens when a private military company gets way, WAY too powerful? How does the world react to it? It’s such an interesting concept that I’m sad we’ll probably never see again in a mainstream title such as COD. I wanna see more of the world that AW is set in and how a “post-ATLAS” world would look.
@judgejudys3xdungeon94 Жыл бұрын
It was definitely a nice change of pace from Russians/Arabs/communists. The KVA was an interesting concept too, since they were against advanced technology which was so prevalent at that point. Sucks we aren't getting a sequel while MW and BO games are a dime a dozen.

What was it that the great Niccolo Machiavelli wrote... "The Ends Justify The Means" In my opinion, if we were allowed to choose which side to pick, I wouldn't be able to hit that 'Bad Guys' button quick enough. Irons had a grand plan with actual good intentions, he just couldn't stand up to a player character... I honestly think this world, the COD world that is, would've been better off in the long run if Atlas had won. Sure there would be hundreds upon thousands of lives lost within a matter of days, but in a matter of years there would hundreds upon thousands more saved, I guarantee ya that.
@anferneejones70329 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed watching the u.s and the entire free WORld Destroy his diabolical plan to rid the world of countries
@BTML4989 жыл бұрын
anfernee jones Diabolical now is it... Do you honestly think its a good thing to have these arbitrary boundaries between races and culture? Because I don't. ...And all I'm saying is, name one super-futuristic video game/movie/or otherwise, like space-age humanity kind of futuristic where Earth is still divided into countries. In Halo all of Earth is united to fight the covenant, everyone gets to keep their cultural differences and there's no need to fight over who's better because there are aliens to fight. In Mass Effect a single council of 3 people decides how all of the Earth's armed forces are mobilized, they may have their differences, but giving them all that power means that once they do agree there's no delay on the order, they get shit done. In the Mechwarrior Universe no-one bats an eye when an entire world shifts allegiance from Davion to Steiner or vice-versa, because having a divided world means that one of the 2 factions is going to have to send an invasionary force to kill a helluva lotta people and probably ravage the landscape in doing so. It can only hurt a world to be divided. I'll admit what Irons is trying to do is a bit harsh, but how else could he achieve world unity? As a great man once said "You must first bathe the world in blood, before there can be peace."
@anferneejones70329 жыл бұрын
The Dawg He was angered that his son died fighting in Korea, and wanted revenge on the united states.... The way he was going out of seeking unification was bbasically a holocaust.... Besides the UN is basically a world government, with almost every country in it....
@BTML4989 жыл бұрын
anfernee jones Honestly I don't think his son's death meant much to him at all, like I said, to Irons its all just a means to an end. Having his son die was the kickstarter for his personal crusade against the rest of the world, but he didn't even seem to like his son, just like his son didn't like him. The only reason he attacked the US first was because they were the biggest threat to him, being the world's most heavily armed nation. Which isn't even to mention the player-character who he was upset with, now working with the US, against him... ...And also like I said about means and ends, if Irons succeeds then hundreds of thousands die now in his righteous war for dominance. Whereas if Irons fails, not only do several thousand people still die to his war, they continue dying in their own nation's wars against other nations. Sure there'll never be world peace, I believe that much is true, but at least a singular military would keep global conflict to a minimum. As it stands the UN is just a facade, what they decide never seems to matter when someone important enough disagrees with them. The only real power for good on the Earth right now, like I said earlier, is the United States Armed Forces. They have the guns and the manpower to physically remove any threat to the world within days of bombing runs... It's too bad their leaders are a bunch of cowards & morons, otherwise we might actually have a decent setup for world peace...

The best part is if this did happen then all the UN would do is threaten to send scathing letters of reprimand.

The characterisation of this dude was really frustrating. His perspective in laying out his reasoning is interesting setup for an antagonist.....but then one mission later he's set up death camps and is exterminating civilians for absolutely no fucking reason whatsoever.

you know this guy was supposed to represent adolf hitler, right? he did that to consolidate power and strength. it's what all dictators do
@silvershocknicktail6638 Жыл бұрын
@@lucca3113 If he's supposed to represent Hitler, then absolutely nothing about his character suggests that beyond starting a world war. Nothing about his backstory, his societal position, his motivations, etc Irons was pissed off with pointless warfare and wanted to consolidate power in himself. Hitler was raised with Catholic anti-semitism, and used various societal groups as scapegoats for the ills of the country. He built upon the previous war, the Versailles treaty, the depression and hyperinflation - none of which have any parallel in Irons. Irons was directly concerned with institutions and nations, and expressed nor encouraged any hatred for any particular civilian group, so when he's suddenly committing genocide out of nowhere within days it's completely insane and isn't borne out in any way by his character or the rhetoric.

@@silvershocknicktail6638 adolf hitler wanted a world war, "total war", to end all wars and consolidate the aryan race. that is what every politician's policy in war of such a scale is. of course, said politicians are also misguided in their thought: you cannot fight fire with fire, or the whole world goes up aflame. once he realized people are resisting, (because, frankly, no one wants to he under a power-freak CEO) irons also realized the most efficient option was to just liquidate the opposition. parallels can be drawn not only with hitler, but napoleon, mussolini, and even stalin. he is every bit like hitler. different times, same man.

@1LERS19 жыл бұрын
unfortunately, No. If you ask me, I would've joined his forces too, and wiped out all those useless birocrauts, and brainless patriots, whos visions of world, is too narrow, and old fashioned. Irons was the man, that thought of future, not present. Great character, and all respect to Kevin Spacey, for his play.

Wise leaders minimize casualties/damages every chance they get. Even if he manages to conquer everyone, he would still face resistance, which would only increase once he gives his targets time to prepare.
