This video depitcs all cutscenes and audio recordings with Jonathan Irons, the main antagonist in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and is played by Kevin Spacey.
After the death of his son Will Irons, Jonathan Irons had become obsessed with power and vengeance against anyone who he blames or anyone who stands in his way, including the governments that hired his company. Irons' menacing nature is further seen when he executed a man and let thousands of people to die for personal gain and in order to improve Atlas' public image. He defended these acts by stating that he sacrificed those innocent people. Even in his last moments, Irons felt no remorse for the innocent deaths and died a power-hungry madman who believed he could solve the world's problems, and that he could save mankind from inevitable destruction.

I kind of share his mentality. I live in a third world country, and i have seen first hand the ineptitude of the government of my country to solve problems such as violence and poverty for over 3/4 of a century by now. If there would be someone here as determined as him to solve all the problems of my country, with *his* power, i would ally with him inmediately. I dont really agree with the details of this mentality, especially with the part of being obssesed with controlling everything, or with that of that the costs will always outweigh the results, wich is not always true. But i agree with the idea of that governments should be more efficient and organized.

Some of the most successful military campaigns succeeded simply because no one ever imagined it was possible. Probably the best line in the entire game out of the intelligence scenes because its 100% correct. Case in point, Germany's attack on France in 1940. The British and French anticipated the Germans to attack in the same fashion as they did during World War I: An advance via Belgium and Holland. What they didn't anticipate was that the Germans would attack using massed armor as the spearhead of the assault through an area that they believed was impassible for tanks to move through (The Ardennes forest). As a result, it led to a large encirclement of Allied forces in Belgium & Northern France in less than two weeks and the fall of France four weeks later.

In my opinion, Atlas suffered from the same trope of bad writing Shadow Company did in MW2022. When you're with them, they're your brothers in arms, fighting the good fight. Likeable people. He's partially right. Truth is though, the US has installed more dictators than democracies, sadly. It's not like they didn't have the resources needed to vett their candidates. It's that the truly democratic candidates wouldn't sell out to American mega businesses, amongst other things. This guy (Irons) is meant to be a critique and a representation of American mindsets in the modern day, giving up on democracy when under a two-party, mostly unaccountable system it was never allowed to blossom. Yet I see so many in the comments agreeing with him. If you agree with Irons, Thanos, and the like, you're missing the point.

Kevin Spacey is a damn fine actor and had damn fine writers. I’m a libertarian but when I listen to him in this game, I want to believe Irons is the future. When Irons says Michels arm is worth more to him than the entire facility and has a drink with his men, I see an employer that I would ride to hell and back for. It’s all the more crushing when you find out all he’s responsible for. Terrific story.
@ponraul1221
@ponraul1221 Жыл бұрын
I’m a libertarian too, but his plan and actions make no sense financially speaking. Atlas is still a corporation which needs customers, and killing millions of your customers doesn’t seem like something that would help with your brand reputation. It would bring down everything he’s built, even if his goal was no longer profit. He ended the government’s monopoly on force and got paid handsomely for doing so, so his actions are completely illogical. Atlas became a reliable option when your own government failed. But I don’t think anyone wants to publish a story where a corporation is actually the good guy.

@@victuz I never said they couldn't be corrupt. But in a free market where government doesn't pick favorites, there is competition which incentivizes value and accountability. If a company was being corrupt, commiting fraud, etc., people would be able to vote with their wallets and choose a better competitor. But of course, the responsibility lies with the people making good choices. Whether that is actually voting at the ballot box or not paying for worse and worse products (like modern AAA gaming).

DatEraa It's a cod game, it's always been about shooting because it costs the least to develop, and they make MASSIVE profit. I cannot understand how the cod devs are so fucking mentally challenged that they think they should make a mediocre game that releases every year, rather then spend a couple of years on it and make it a GOTY. All the COD franchise knows how to do is make action games, it's all they have ever done. Waste of Spacey's perfect talent to be an amazing villain. This is why I haven't bought a cod game in 5 years.

+Appleorgasm Because a lot of people, including myself, think they're all legitimately good games, ever think of that? The First Modern Warfare had an amazing story, MW3 had the best Multiplayer (in my opinion), and MW2 has earned its spot on one of my 10 All Time Favorite Videogames list amongst Bioshock and Dishonored. The newer ones are while not as good as the Modern Warfare trilogy, still pretty decent. All Cod knows is how to make action games? Uh, yeah. That's kind of the point of First Person Shooters, isn't it? You want it to become a color matching puzzle game like all the Candy Crush Saga ripoffs? About Spacey, while it is kind of a waste of Spacey's talent, Irons is still a really great villain! Just listen to him at 16:30.

Irons tortured the protag just cause. He shot Cormack and left him to bleed when shooting him in the head is more effective, less risky and honestly more humane.
